The war was won, but at a Great Cost...

(*Viva’s POV*)

These people are crazy… Okay, they weren’t crazy, but they were crazy powerful. Why the hell did mother think that going to war with them would be a good idea?

I was a commander in their military, but my contributions were miniscule compared to the rest of them… In fact, I felt more like a talking head, or a symbol for rebellion, rather than an actual important leader…

This fact is even more evident, as I never invaded any kingdom directly. One of the main commanders would be the one to do the killing of the king. Meanwhile, I just sat back and watched.

It was mind numbing… No matter what tactics I used for bringing a kingdom to its knees would work with flying colors. Even when, purely out of sick boredom, I purposely gave terrible battle plans. Each time, I was victorious.

Not to mention Celia and the rest, but their military was insane. How the hell have they hidden this power for so long? Even then, Celia didn’t get much spotlight, due to the whole getting kidnapped to Hell thing. If she was here, then this war would long be over.

As I launch a full scale war on my own kingdom, I felt bad… Not because I feel remorseful for doing this, but because I enjoy it. Clearly, I had a more sadistic side to myself that I didn’t know about…

Many times I would injure a person in this war, just enough to almost kill them, all with an evil smile on my face. Luckily, we had many healers on our side, so the people I hurt were all quickly saved.

Maybe it’s because I was a different race than them, with them being humans, that I felt like this? The answer to my question shocked me, as I still felt the same even when fighting my own people… I hope… No, I PRAY that I am just a battle junkie, and not some insane evil sadist…

Only time will tell… But as for now, I could tell that my people had no chance against Evaclearian at all. Frankly, it was almost like a game of chess. Much to my relief, very few people died in this huge war.

And it seems that it will be the same for this last push. In fact, the only ones that will die, will be my mother and other high ranking military members. Once she is dead, then I will take over Eloateilian as its new queen.

The Elven forest was just as old as it was beyond confusing to navigate. Luckily, I, being an Elf, was given knowledge at birth, probably by our Goddess, on how to go about navigating it. With my help, getting through the forest was easy.

Being a princess, I also knew all of the hiding spots that my people would use. They knew that I was involved in this war, so why didn’t they change their tactics? Knowing my mother, she probably told them that all of her daughters were still held captive by queen Yona.

Why my mother, who I always believed was a great ruler and tactician, would wage this war so terrible, is beyond my understanding. Amora… My mom must truly have lost her mind. Why else would she do such crazy things?…

Despite my reluctance to figure out the answer to this question, I was now before the capital of our kingdom. With an almost evil smile on my face, I had led my kingdom’s enemy to our front door. And quickly, at that…

My only hope is that they will give Amora a quick and hopefully painless death. Yes, she mind controlled me and my sisters, and sent us to our deaths, but she is still our mother. I just hope that Yona and her family’s kindness will extend to my mother…

(*Lia’s POV*)

This is it… The capital. I’ve barely slept at all these past few days. All I could think about was winning this war in Celia’s honor. Or, I would have barely slept, but Ria would force me to sleep via sleeping magic. Which, I will inform you, doesn’t even fucking exist!

Though, now that I have known her for a while, I think that she has powers similar to a succubus. Which would explain why she could make people fall asleep. Regardless, this was the last step in this war. The last fight that we have to win…

Nia: “Are you ready, Lia?” She asked with a warm tone.

Lia: “Hm…what would Celia say in reply to that, I wonder?” I reply with a thinking pose.

Yona: “Most likely something that would make us laugh. Anyway, this is the last push that we have to do! Let’s not be in the process of ending this war right as Celia comes back!” She said with a loud and serious tone.

All of us roared loudly, which included our soldiers. If we were slaughters, we would have long since won this war, but we still fight while insuring that we do everything in our power to keep casualties to an absolute minimum. And this last fight won’t be an exception.

*Many Hours Later.*

Standing before a huge door, which Viva says is queen Amora’s audience chamber, we all braced ourselves. This entire war was far too fishy… There has to be some odd power at play that caused all of this to happen.

As for what it is, that is what we’re trying to brace for. For all we know, we could be walking into a trap that will end with our deaths…

Yona, being the strongest, and the queen, opened the door first. Unfortunately, Ria couldn’t interfere with this event either, so she had to stay back. Losing our strongest fighter was truly concerning. What was more concerning, was that the will of this world considered this event to be so historical that Ria couldn’t help us with it…

The door opened, and we were all shocked… Viva, she acted like her mother was there, and even spoke to her… Why is she acting like this?…

Viva: “Mother! I demand answer for this war!” She exclaimed.

But we heard no answer… Viva seemed to have heard an answer, though… A spell… that was what it was. Yona and Amora weren’t friends, but they were on good terms. Which is why, up until now, Yona was confused about why this war even happened.

The answer, laid before us, and was very obvious… Queen Amora was dead, and a still rotting corpse was on her throne. We found a spell catalyst within the room, said spell that this thing powered, clearly made the people of this kingdom believe that Amora was still alive, and would talk to them.

Smashing the catalyst, the spell was broken, Viva fell flat on her butt from the true sight that was before her. And we couldn’t blame her for it…

Viva: “M-Mother?” She said with years running down her face.

Yona: “I’m sorry, Viva, but Amora is dead.” She said after giving Viva a hug.

From the rotten corpse appeared a Goddess of Rot. Clearly, the one mastermind behind this entire war. Of course, this was all according to Nia.

Nia: “A Rot Goddess killed your mother, and took over your kingdom, Viva.” She informed.

Even without much of her power, this Rot Goddess was able to trick all of the Elves, and even the spies, that Yona sent here. From what Ria told us about her mother, it seems that this Goddess even tricked her as well. This being is dangerous…

Viva: “…”

Rot Goddess: “H-how!?” She yelled.

Yona: “How what? Foul being.” She said with a raised eyebrow.

Rot Goddess: “It wasn’t enough! Not enough deaths! I didn’t gain enough from this war… How did you win with so little amount of deaths!?” She asked with a confused tone.

Yona: “We were powerful enough to deal with the war, with only killing a few people. Though, a thousand is a lot, it isn’t the much in the grand scheme of things.” She explained.

Rot Goddess: “With my remaining power, I swear that I will kill at least one of you!” She said with a furious tone.

Lia: “Enough explaining, Yona. We need to end this being now! It is far too evil to let go on living any longer!” I exclaim with a serious tone.

My body acted before my mind did, and perhaps due to the anger I bottled up for what happened to Celia, to which I blamed this horrible Goddess, I rushed head first toward the Goddess. Without even thinking if I could defeat her…

This is a something that I will regret for the rest of my life… The Goddess was too much for me to handle, and before it could send a killing bow at me, Yona hugged me and blocked the attack with her body. The attack was the last resort of a dying Goddess, so it had immense power held within it.

While still hugging me to protect me, Yona fell into a deep sleep. And while I sat on the ground, holding the unconscious Yona, the rest of our group finished off the Goddess…

This… this was fated to happen!? That’s bullshit! Ria could have easily prevented this! No matter how many times we tried healing Yona, the wound wouldn’t go away, and she was still asleep. Even Ria was shocked, saying that she didn’t even see a small chance of such a future… Neither did Nia see such a future either…

*Many Days Later.*

From what Ria can tell, Celia will be home soon. Even weeks after we won the war, none of us were happy at all. All because of the second horrible and rash decision of my life...

Yona still sleeps to this day, and I feel the worse kind of pain imaginable when I have to tell Celia that this is all my fault. That her dear mother will not wake up from her deep slumber…

What will Celia say when she hears that it is because of me? Will she hate me for this? I hope that she does… If she just goes ahead with life, and tries to find a solution to this problem, all without getting angry at me, I might just go insane from the guilt alone…
