Chapter 198

Dana, Fie, Tio, Adnan and I take a walk around town. The purpose of the walk is to lift Tio's spirits. She's already showing signs of recovery according to Randy, but it wouldn't hurt to give her one more push.

We walk to the next market. Maybe it's because Amleth and Gastrium are neighboring countries, so there's not much difference in the market content, but Emas is definitely different because it's a mining country. Of the neighboring countries, I guess I haven't been to the other two, technically three, although I can argue that I'm originally from the village of Aru, which is in the Empire.

The fruits and vegetables here are something you can find in Amleth, though Tio still makes a note of it. In my eyes, it's just food, but maybe she's comparing value and quality. Who knows, but it looks like she's having fun.

Adnan and Dana also seem to be interested in the weapon shop here. Again, for me it's just a different color and shape of spear, sword and the like, but for them they appreciate the differences, no matter how small it is.

As for me, I like to see the clothes and the street. The umbrellas they use to cover the streets are definitely bright in color and will make good music when it rains. I wanted to hear it when it rains, so much so that I'm tempted to ask Aqua, the water fairy blessing, for help, but, it will definitely cause inconvenience, so, let's wait for a natural rain.

As for the clothing, it's almost the same as in Amleth. Unlike Emas, which emphasizes on the color of the minerals, here it's more towards whatever you can find. The quality of the clothes doesn't differ much from that of Amleth, but unlike Amleth, which has every race from Angel to Demon, here the size is more towards beastman and human.

Since neither of us has any money, we can only window shop, so maybe that's why our ears are sharper.

"Did you hear? The two heroes of Amleth are here!"

"Why?"

"Are they just here to brag about their exploits?"

"Exactly! Because of them, we're not one of the empire's territories"

"It will be better that way! The Cardinal here has already smoothed everything over, even the Pope wanted to minimize the bloodshed"

"Either we become independent or we become part of the rich empire, which is better..."

"I am grateful to the heroes!"

"The war dragged on because of the heroes! My son could survive if only the king didn't side with Queen Amleth!"

"Now even the Church is suffering a backlash!"

"They have to raise the price of their treatment just because of the two heroes!"

"I heard that someone died because he couldn't afford the treatment!

"I heard that there's a black market for organs just to save some patient the church is treating."

"Whatever it is, it is probably because of the heroes!"

"Stop talking nonsense!"

"Long live the empire!

"What, you wanted to be a slave for them!?

"The beast friend of ours is definitely not welcome! Have some common sense!"

There are more people who are thankful for Nar and Sas, but the loud ones are the ones who don't agree with them. They keep slandering my two brothers, which I really hate to hear. I have to put up with it or else I will make things worse for Nar and Sas. I'm sure Dana is thinking the same thing.

Still, what they just mentioned caught my attention. Black market for the organ? Is that one of the reasons why Tio was kidnapped? Raising the price of the treatment along with the black market? That's scary. They are currently facing problems from the Church, having a defect in their barrier and the unknown monsters roaming around, though the citizens are blissfully unaware of the last two problems.

Maybe I should just ask one of them. That lady seems nice.

"About the church's treatment fee? It's true, they raised their treatment price, although I don't know why. Some say it's because they have to pay for the mistake they made during the war, others say it's a conspiracy to make the king listen to them. I just hope my family didn't get sick...".

Even Tio seems to understand why she's being kidnapped. Maybe for ransom? Maybe to be sold on the black market? Whatever it is, it's definitely something to do with money, and what does a B-rank adventure need money for right now, besides treatment? Maybe, since we haven't heard anything from Valdrid yet.

"Hey, should we visit the church and see for ourselves?" [Tio]

"Are you sure?" [Dana]

"Absolutely. If that's the reason why I was kidnapped, then at least I can complain to Saintess Rumia during our club activity and she can do something about it" [Tio].

"Maybe, but it is better than doing nothing" [Adnan].

"Alright, let's go, go, go" [Diana]
