It means that Cedric was also kidnapped while chasing me. I nodded.

“I don’t know who they are, but when it gets a little brighter, and they realize we’re missing, the search will start.”

“Yes, yes.”

If we can hold out until morning, we survive.

“I think those people did something to my eyes.”

Something flashed in front of my eyes.

After listening to my explanation, Cedric tensed his shoulders.

“It seems they used something like a magic tool to temporarily blind you. Have you heard of it?”

My body was trembling.

‘What if I can’t see from now on?’

Will this get better?

“I’m scared…”

It was the first time I said such a thing to someone.

Cedric immediately started comforting me.

“Calm down. I’m next to you. If it really is a magic tool, the Duke will do something. If not, I will call the royal magician to treat you.”

Cedric whispered. He touched my shoulder. I felt the trembling gradually subsiding.

“Slowly, keep breathing.”

At Cedric’s very small voice, my breath began to calm down.

“Thank you…”

It was cold. My body was trembling. I leaned against Cedric.

“I’m cold.”

“Hold on a little longer.”

My head started to hurt again. Suddenly, my eyes closed. Was it fear? Or a feeling beyond that?

My heart was pounding with a strange feeling. It didn’t calm down. I felt nauseous.

“You can close your eyes.”

Cedric whispered. I buried my face in my knees.

Slowly, my consciousness faded away.

* * *

Cedric, looking at the unconscious Leticia, held his breath.

He didn’t know who they were, or what kind of scent they used, but Cedric’s consciousness was also becoming blurry.

‘I have to protect her.’

This little child in his arms had no one else to rely on but him.

Cedric barely held onto his consciousness. Then.

“Found them.”

The inside of the tree stump suddenly lit up.

Someone had put a lamp inside. What caught his eye was a grotesque face with a sly smile.

A man was looking at Cedric.

Cedric instinctively realized that the man was the one with the crow mask.

“Don’t scream and come out. Or I’ll kill the girl first.”

Cedric clenched his teeth. The cold knife was around their hearts.

Cedric slowly raised his hands and came out. The man put the lamp down in front of the tree stump.

“Please release the girl. I don’t know what you’ve done, but it seems she can’t even see properly. She probably didn’t see anyone’s face today.”

“That’s not for your kind of commoner to decide.”

“If you make a loud noise, people will wake up.”

Cedric spoke with a seemingly leisurely voice.

“Ah, and… My mom may be a commoner, but I’m not. And beyond that, she was a very precious person. She gave all this talent to her son.”

“What?”

Cedric thought.

He didn’t want to use this power. But he had no choice. Cedric took a deep breath.

His hand slowly raised.

The people who saw Cedric’s form widened their eyes.

“You… who are you?”

Cedric smirked, smiling. It was the honey smile that Leticia named.

“Don’t be scared. After all, I’m only fifteen years old, how much can I hurt adults?”

It might sting a little, but – Cedric decided to omit that part.
