"Oh? You're home?"

Shao Yan peeked from the kitchen and saw Li Xiqing was taking off his shoes.

"Dinner's ready, come to the dining room, alright?" And as she finished saying that, Shao Yan quickly turned around and went back inside the kitchen. She started to scoop a chicken thigh from the pot into a blue and white ceramic bowl.

As they were seated down at the dining table, Shao Yan passed a pair of chopsticks to Li Xiqing, "Mandy was here just now."

"Oh?" He picked up his bowl of rice, "Did she need anything?"

Shao Yan shook her head, "No, she was just asking about Grandma's favorite color."

She picked up some vegetables and put them into her bowl, "We had a long meeting today, and I felt so tired. Let's watch that Korean drama that I have been wanting to watch for a while now?"

Li Xiqing was about to pick up his spoon and scooped some of the herbal chicken soup. His hands paused when he heard Shao Yan mentioned about watching some Korean TV drama.

"Sure," he cleared his throat, "uh, which one is it?"

Shao Yan giddily started to describe the drama series.

"It's a Fantasy Romance drama about two gods who are always against each other. One is cursed to live a long life, while the other is actually a grim reaper."

She paused, before continuing, "Fan jie and Li Na have been talking about this for days now, so I got curious. Let's try watching the first two episodes tonight, alright?"

Li Xiqing nodded his head, "Sure, let's do that."

But in his mind, he could have guessed that Shao Yan will soon or later want to watch this series. When he went out for lunch with his coworkers today, some of the females were already discussing the 'friendship bromance' between the two male characters.

Shao Yan continued to talk about her day as they ate and Li Xiqing listened to her; sometimes he would throw comments here and there.

A quiet night like this, a simple dinner at home with a wife accompanying him, was all he could ask for.

....

It was a cloudy day today. The time was only around eleven in the morning, but dark clouds had been hanging around the whole day; making the air so gloomy. Some parts of the roads were filled with patches of water due to the sprinkles they had this morning.

A shiny, black sedan stopped in front of the classic colonial building. The valet boy briskly walked to the passenger seat and opened the door.

An old elegant woman was sitting elegantly in the back seat of the car. She was wearing dark blue cheongsam. The velvet material gave off a warm feeling on this cold and rainy day.

At the front of her dress, motifs of flowers, clouds and water were sown in red threads and red sequins. Three mandarin collar buttons were decorating the side of her shoulder, making her look as gentle as the morning dew.

The valet boy offered one of his hands so he could help the middle aged woman to step out of the car. Grandma Wu reached one hand out and placed it on the valet boy while saying, "Thank you, young man."

The valet boy blushed at the gratitude shown by the grandmother. He had just started the job a week ago, and most of his customers had barely even spared him a glance. But this simple 'thank you' for this customer made him feel so grateful; his heart swell with pride.

As he was about to walk further to enter the building, another woman had approached them.

"Let me," She said, while taking the elderly woman's hand into her own, "our reservation is room 818. Please note that on the car. Thank you."

The two women gave him a polite smile before continuing to walk away. Valet boy quickly walked to the driver side and drove the car away.

....

Grandma Wu and Risa had just walked into the restaurant when Shao Yan and Li Xiqing had also just arrived.

When they walked inside the room, Shao Yan noticed that they were the last to arrive.

Mandy and Axel were already sitting inside, and they were laughing amicably with Grandma Wu and also Risa.

"Oh!" Risa exclaimed, "Yan Yan, you finally arrived."

Shao Yan nodded, "En," and then she entered the room and went up to the remaining empty chairs next to Risa, "The other exit was closed, so we have to turn around and exit the other way."

Risa waved her hand in front of her, "It's fine, we also have just arrived," she said and then she tilted her head to the side, "maybe ten minutes before you?"

"Oh," Shao Yan was standing in front of Grandma Wu, "That's good then, I thought we were already so late."

She bent down and squeezed Grandma Wu into a hug, "Grandma!"

Looking at her spoiled granddaughter, Grandma Wu felt so happy, all she had on her face was all smiles. She patted Yan Yan on her back, "En, let's sit now." Shao Yan slowly eased her hug, and stepped to the side to let Li Xiqing approach Grandma.

"Grandma," Li Xiqing who was walking behind Shao Yan had approached Grandma Wu to give her a hug, "How have you been doing?"

Grandma Wu nodded multiple times, "En, I'm fine, all good. Sit down now."

Seeing that they were now a complete party, Axel raised his hand to signal the server to come over. Once the waitress was standing next to him, he glanced at Mandy, "You can start to order now, I think everyone is hungry."

Mandy smiled and nodded back at him, "I have called ahead yesterday and ordered the dishes," and then she tilted her head to look at the server, "you can serve the food now. We are ready. Thank you."

The server nodded her acknowledgment, before she excused herself and walked out of the private room.

Soft erhu music was playing in the background.

The six people in the room started to talk with each other over cups of fragrant flower tea while snacking on some appetizers while waiting for the main dishes to arrive.

....

"That room over there..."

A server who was showing the way suddenly paused her track when she heard the customer asking her a question.

The server glanced to the private room 818, and then back to her customer with a questioning look; urging the customer to say more.

The server was not able to take his eyes away over the breathtaking look of this customer in front of her. Her long, wavy ash blonde hair was swaying as she turned her head and looked at the people inside the room.

The woman stared through the glass window by the door; she was looking at the joyous moment inside the room. All six people were laughing with each other. If no one knew, they would easily assume they were all one big happy family.

Her soft perfume filled this narrow alley where the two of them were standing. For a moment, the waitress was lost in a valley of flowers surrounding her smell senses; before she gradually remembered that she was supposed to show this customer into her own private room.

"Yes, mam? Your room is over there," The server finally asked her a question, "What about this room?"

She did not say anything for a long while, before she opened her beautiful tinted lips and said, "Do you mind, checking a small thing for me."

She turned her head and stared into the server's eyes, "Can you please find out if the person who booked this room is Daniel Li?"
