"Daniel, how are the preparations from your side?"

Li Xiqing could hear rhythmical taps coming from the other side of the line, as if a pen was knocked on the table multiple times. He opened his calendar on his computer and started to skim through the schedules in front of him, "All set. Ido Kanagawa will arrive at noon, and Martin and I will meet him for dinner."

The tapping sound stopped and then another sound of a chair being pushed to the back was heard.

Axel was walking towards the window to look at the view outside of his hotel room.

"Alright, I will leave everything to you then," He placed his palm on the window glass and watched the idle traffic below his view.

"Don't worry about us here. How is Singapore?"

Axel was looking down from his room on the 38th floor; in front of his hotel was the view of Singapore's central business district. Concrete jungle spread in front of him with no mercy.

"Very humid and very busy," Axel raised his eyes and looked further to the skyline, "Such a small country but everything is very advanced."

His palm slowly moved away and Axel turned to walk back to the writing desk; his eyebrow slightly furrowed.

"Daniel, I think the deal this time will not be as easy as I thought it will be," he sighed as he sat down on the white velvet chair, "the asshole involved in this company has hurt my sister. I won't be able to be neutral during discussion."

Slightly rubbing his fingertips on his forehead, Axel contemplated, "You may have to take a trip down here sometime next month. I'll let you know when."

Li Xiqing twisted around the pen in his fingers as his mind thought of different options that they had.

"Alright, just let me know," he said absentmindedly, while pursing his lips in deep thoughts, "My parents will be here, we will have to take turns on this trip so Mandy won't have to be alone."

Upon the mention of his wife, Axel gradually relaxed his tensed jaw, and his lips slowly curved into a smile, "Yes, you are right," his head slightly bowed down.

"I think I am more afraid of her wrath than failing on this deal," Axel said before his throaty laugh roared in the empty hotel room.

...….

Mandy put down her cappuccino and smiled, "You don't have to be ashamed, Vivi," she gave a little shrug, "It was already past and everyone has moved on now."

She paused and looked straight into her eyes, Mandy caught a glimpse of the ring that she wore as her necklace, and her expression shifted slightly.

"You know," Mandy quickly brought back her gaze down to her cup before saying, "Sometimes, letting go is better than prisoning yourself to the past," she paused again to sip on her coffee.

"Even if you want to return to what you had before, just remember, everyone is no longer standing in their same spot."

Vivian clenched her fist before releasing it slowly, "Sis, I believe you're wrong."

She paused before stuttering, "W-what is so wrong with chasing our dream? It's called a dream for a reason. Haven't you heard a saying Go Big or Go Home? I believe we should at least try."

Mandy looked at her, and sighed softly, the corner of her lips twitched in irritation but she took a deep breath before saying, "What you thought to be a beautiful dream, well, you are not wrong, my dear. It is just a dream, so wake up and face the reality now."

She glanced at her and found that Vivian was blinking anxiously, her fingers were playing with the ring now.

She let out a nervous laugh, "Sis, I don't mean any harm. I was just missing Shanghai, that's why I came back."

Mandy let out an amicable smile, her eyebrows raised in a skeptical look, "Of course, you are. And I can see you are much happier now, Vivi, so let's move on and enjoy our lives moving forward."

She put down her mug again, "By the way," and then she leaned back to her seat, "Amy is opening her new boutique soon. Would you like to attend the Grand Opening ceremony?"

Vivian slowly licked her pale lips, before a small smile appeared on her flustered face. She knew Mandy had closed the topic and wanted to shift the topic.

Vivian slipped the necklace back inside her blouse; clearing her throat, she said, "Sure, Sis, it has been a while for me to see Amy too, please extend her invitation to me."

....

Shao Yan raised her hand to adjust the glasses by her nose bridge. Her eyes were still focusing on reading the schedule for Valentine's Day even tomorrow. She gently bit her lower lip as she concentrated on imagining the whole flow.

When she was done, her hand over the mouse hovered around the top corner to save the file.

She got up from her chair and closed her notebook. Just as she was about to shut down her laptop, her mobile phone started to ring.

Shao Yan glanced to her left and right to look for her phone. Her eyes went around, scanning her desk for it. And then she slapped her palm on her forehead; just remembering that she had been leaving her phone inside the purse the whole time.

Shao Yan quickly opened the drawer and took out her purse. Her fingers went inside the bag and finally grabbed around it; she hurriedly pulled it out.

She glanced at the screen and saw an unfamiliar number was calling her. Her thumb was tapping the side of the phone. Shao Yan tilted her head as she was considering if she should pick it up. Marketing companies usually picked this hour to start their cold calling because most people were just knocking off from work and had their phone in their hands.

The call was hung up when she was about to pick it up. Shao Yan was about to put the phone back into her purse, but a text message came in. She quickly unlocked it and saw it was from the same number.

"Hello, we met each other a few weeks ago, I hope you still remember me. I am Vivian, a friend of Danny."

....

Shao Yan paused as she read her text.

'Finally you are here,' She thought to herself and sighed, 'I wonder what you want now.'

She bit her inner cheek and thought if she needed to continue reading.

"I would like to invite you for lunch. I know you're a very busy person. Afternoon tea is also fine. I will let you decide."

She read the message again for a few times; her fingers hovered above the 'reply' button, but she did not click it. After debating for a while, she finally decided not to reply right away.

Nodding to herself after reaching her decision, Shao Yan continued to power down her computer and tidy up her desk. She got up from her chair and turned off the desk lamp before starting to walk out.

The whole time, her forehead was furrowed and she kept forgetting things. As if she had a lot of things in her mind.

Shao Yan shifted her feet while waiting for the elevator to arrive on her floor. After working for a long day, she just wanted to go home and let Li Xiqing give her a tight, warm hug and snuggles.

And maybe another bubble bath, too?

Upon the comforting and warm images, Shao Yan heard the elevator arrive and briskly walked in. She could not wait to go home.
