“Here it is again. Did you hear it?” Flavia suddenly exclaimed.

“Huh?” everyone else had confused expressions on their faces.

Flavia on the other hand, was confused about her friends not being able to hear anything.

“What? Are you saying you couldn’t hear it? It sounded like someone or something was scratching a rock,” the bunny girl tried to explain.

“Where did the sound come from, Flavia?” asked Narias.

“From over there,” the girl with the bunny ears pointed at the wall on the other side of the cave room.

“Ok, let’s go check it out,” said Narias.

Unfortunately, as thorough as the students were, they couldn’t find anything unusual.

“That’s strange. I honestly thought I’ve heard something,” Flavia was getting confused.

Right at the same time, a few pebbles fell on the ground next to the wall not far from where they were.

“That’s it. That’s the same sound I heard earlier,” the excited bunny girl exclaimed.

The group quickly rushed to check what it was.

“Ghm…” Growly was inspecting the surroundings.

“Is it a monster?” Emilia asked.

“No. Dirt and rocks,” was the bear boy’s answer.

“So…” Narias was looking around.

“Huh? Over there,” suddenly, Flavia pointed with her hand to the left from where she was this time.

“Where? Huh?” everyone looked towards that direction, but all they could see was another wall staring at them.

“I’m sorry Flavia, but… are you sure you’re not hearing things?” Narias asked, not able to see anything unusual.

“What? I know I have heard something. You’re so mean by not believing me, partner,” the charming bunny girl crossed her arms in front of her with an added frown.

“No, no. I believe you. It’s just…” he didn’t know what to say.

At the same time, Growly was inspecting the wall. The bear boy scratched the hard rock with his furry paw and had some pebble drop on the ground.

“Hey, that’s it,” Flavia turned to him, pointing with her finger.

“Huh?” Growly was confused about it. “Pebble fell.”

“Maybe you’ve heard some small stones or dirt fall from the wall or the ceiling, Flavia?” Narias asked, realizing that could be it.

“Aaargh… it sounded… different, ok?” the bunny girl started getting slightly upset.

“Sorry,” said Growly.

“Don’t be upset, Flavia. We’re not mad at you,” Emilia spoke to her kindly.

“I know. It’s just that… Baaah,” Flavia grabbed her head with both hands, then shook it frantically.

“Maybe… it’s just the dungeon? We’ve been here for quite a while now. Things could get… confusing,” Narias tried to calm her down.

“But… well…” Flavia stared at the wall for a brief moment, trying to figure out whether what she heard was real or not. “Maybe… ghm… maybe you’re right, partner. I’m sorry everyone. I must be hearing things.”

“That’s ok. We can’t be too careful,” Emilia gave her a kind smile.

“Yeah. We are to trust each other,” added Lilna.

“Shall we go now?” Growly asked before scratching his cheek with a finger.

“Yeah,” Narias gave a wall one extra glance, but then turned to go.

“Right, let’s go,” Flavia was about to follow her team. “Huh?”

But just when everyone turned to leave, Flavia’s ears caught the same sound she was hearing all this time. She turned around to try and pinpoint where the sound was coming from.

“Will you… stop annoying me!” the annoyed bunny girl jumped forward towards the wall, where she thought the sound was coming from. “Hah!”

Flavia was about to punch at what it seemed to be just another piece of a rock on the wall.

“Wha- eek!” but she freaked out and jumped back in an instant when the rock she was aiming to smash, grew legs and ran up the wall, evading her hit.

“What happened?” the other students quickly turned around to see what the commotion was all about.

“That rock has legs!” Flavia pointed at the rock, which looked like any other rock again. Only now it was out of her reach.

“What?” Lilna was shocked to hear something like that.

“Strange rock,” Growly commented, not knowing what to think.

“Strange? It totally freaked me out!” Flavia was beside herself. “How can a rock move?”

“Where is it?” Emilia asked, trying to see it.

“It’s over there,” the girl with the bunny ears pointed at the wall, as high as almost reaching the ceiling.

“Huh?” but Emilia couldn’t see the moving rock. “Sorry Flavia, but… I don’t see any moving rocks.”

“It’s that rock up there. It stopped moving now, but it is next to that slim stalactite right where the ceiling starts,” Flavia tried to explain.

“But… it looks like a simple rock to me,” said Emilia, trying not to sound rude.

“Yes, exactly. But that rock grew legs and ran up the wall right before I was about to punch it,” Flavia told her with a burning passion.

“You were about to punch a rock?” Lilna was a little surprised about Flavia’s explanation.

“Yes, well… I thought the sound that I was hearing was coming from that rock. I was getting annoyed about it, so I…” Flavia made an innocent facial expression while rubbing her cheek with one finger. But then quickly snapped out of it. “Hey, that’s not the point. That rock literally grew legs and ran up the wall.”

“Well…” Lilna tried to procure a genuine smile.

As much as everyone tried to see, everyone else saw only rocks which were part of the wall and ceiling. Even Growly couldn’t tell the difference between the rocks on the ceilings.

“Don’t tell me you don’t believe me again?” Flavia threw her hands to the sides.

“We do, but…” Emilia tried to see the moving rock again, but with no luck.

I can’t see any moving rocks, but Flavia is definitely not the type of a person who would make things up. Narias tried to see something as well. Hold on, what if…

“Can you point to the rock that grew legs and ran up the wall again, Flavia?” Narias asked.

“It’s that one,” she pointed with her finger. “The one, with a small spike on it.”

“Ok,” Narias aimed his finger at the rock Flavia was pointing at. “Wind… Bullet.”

As soon as he shot his Wind Bullet spell, the same rock instantly grew legs and almost slid to the side on the wall to avoid getting hit by it.

“Whaaat!?” the other girls exclaimed in surprise.

“See? I told you so,” Flavia was finally happy that the others saw the rock move.

“What is that rock?” Lilna couldn’t believe her eyes.

“A moving rock,” Growly answered her question calmly.

“That’s…” Lilna didn’t know if Growly was actually serious with his answer or was trying to be funny.

“But how can it move?” Emilia asked after the initial surprise moment faded.

“That’s what I want to know. It completely freaked me out,” Flavia was waving her hands.

“It’s not a rock. It’s a Crystal Snatcher Bug,” Narias told everyone.

“Huh? You mean, the rare monster you told us about? Really?” Flavia became excited after hearing it.

“Yes. That’s the only monster that could fit the description. It builds a shell around its body that resembles a rock, so it could hide from its enemies,” Narias reminded his teammates.

“That’s right. I remember reading about it in one of the books too,” Emilia confirmed it.

“Good disguise,” Growly sounded like he was complimenting the bug.

In reality, it was a real compliment. If even Growly couldn’t tell the difference between a normal rock and the bug monster’s shell, it told a lot about how good its shell was.

“Hey, if that’s really a Crystal Snatcher Bug… that means it can drop some amazing loot,” Flavia almost jumped from excitement. “We need to defeat it.”

“Ghm… it’s high up,” Growly looked up at the ceiling.

“Let us take care of it,” Narias stepped forward, then raised his hand up in the air. “Wind Bullet.”

However, just like the last time, as soon as Narias released his spell, the Crystal Snatcher Bug quickly moved to the side to avoid getting hit by it. There was some distance from the ground to the ceiling, so it took a second or two for Narias’ spell to reach its target. But even so, the bug monster had amazing reflexes. It almost knew where the spell would hit, so it moved out of the way to avoid it.

“Wow, it’s so fast,” Flavia exclaimed.

“Ice Shards,” Emilia cast her spell next. But just like with Narias’ spell, it didn’t hit its target. “What?”

“How about we attack it all together?” Lilna suggested after witnessing it.

“Good idea. Let’s do it,” Narias agreed.

Narias, Emilia and Lilna chanted a spell each, but right when they were about to release it, the bug monster run through the ceiling, moving left and right to confuse the students. Neither of their spells hit the creature. The Crystal Snatcher Bug was running up the ceiling just as easy as anyone else would move on the ground.

“Wow, it’s so fast,” Lilna exclaimed after her spell didn’t hit the bug monster.

“It almost seems like it knows where our spells would hit,” Emilia pointed out.

Hey, Emilia is right. It starts moving as soon as we chant to cast our spells. Does it have a way to predict our spellcasting? Narias furrowed his eyebrows to try and get a better view of the Crystal Snatcher Bug. Huh?

Narias suddenly noticed that the creature had not only legs, but also a head and two or even three antennas peeking out of one side of its shell. It was very brief. The bug monster would stick its head out just for a brief moment before pulling it back in.

“I think it uses its antennas to predict the direction of our spells,” Narias shared his observation with the others.

“Wow. It can do that?” Lilna exclaimed with surprise.

“But then how do we defeat it?” Emilia asked.

“Smash it,” Growly slammed his fist into his other hand’s palm.

“Yeah. If we could reach it, me and Growly could definitely beat it,” Flavia was ready to fight too.

“But if it evades our spells, how will we get it down?” Lilna wondered.

“I have an idea. I will need your help, Emilia,” Narias turned to her.

“What do you want me to do, Narias?” she turned to him.

“I need you to freeze the ceiling,” he said.

“Freeze the ceiling?” Emilia was slightly puzzled.

“Yes. The Crystal Snatcher Bug uses its rock-like legs to attach itself to the ceiling. But if it was covered with ice, it would be too slippery for the creature to hold on to,” Narias explained to her.

“Oh, I see,” Emilia realized it could work. “Let me try.”

It wasn’t too difficult for Emilia to cover the ceiling with ice. Of course, the Crystal Snatcher Bug, sensing where her spells might hit, ran in the opposite direction. So, in order to trap the bug monster, Emilia started casting her spells around the ceiling area where the bug monster was. Soon enough, the Crystal Snatcher Bug had nowhere to run due to the ice covering the ceiling all around it. After Emilia cast one more spell, the Crystal Snatcher Bug tried to evade it by quickly dashing to the side. As it was to be expected, the creature jumped on the ice-covered area, couldn’t hold on to it, and fell to the ground. That’s when Growly and Flavia rushed forward.

The Crystal Snatcher Bug didn’t get hurt when it fell on the ground from the ceiling, however. It curled inside of its rock-hard shell and fell on the ground just like any other stone would. As soon as it dropped, it quickly extended its rocky legs to try and get away. Fortunately, Flavia was fast on her feet.

Since neither Flavia nor Growly could use any magic, the Crystal Snatcher Bug couldn’t predict their attacks. It simply tried to run away from them. Flavia jumped forward to block the creatures escape route and kicked it with her foot towards where Growly was.

To her biggest surprise, the monster quickly curled back inside its shell to protect itself. The bug’s rock-hard shell was really hard. All Flavia’s kick did was to toss the monster up in the air. But that’s where Growly came in. Flavia’s aim was perfect to have the bug monster end up right in front of the chubby bear boy, who had his paw in half swing already.

- ‘Smash!’ – the Crystal Snatcher Bug was blown to the ground.

Growly’s attack was so strong, it smashed the creature’s shell into bits after it hit the ground. That didn’t kill the monster, but the Crystal Snatcher Bug lost its shell. It had nowhere to hide anymore.

“Blue,” was the next thing the chubby bear boy said.

He was about to finish the bug monster off, but it quickly leaped to the side, then back and away from Growly. Unfortunately, he was too slow to land another hit on it.

“Why you!” fortunately, Flavia was faster than the monster.

- ‘Smack!’ –

One direct kick was enough to kill it on the spot. The monster’s body vanished right after, leaving a strangely shaped, blue color crystal behind.

“Yeah!” Flavia flexed victoriously, feeling totally on fire. “That’s how you do it!”

“Well done, Flavia,” Narias was quick to congratulate her.

“Nice kick,” Growly complimented her too.

“Ghee~” Flavia was grinning wide.

“That was… a great plan, Narias,” Emilia said, after coming closer.

“It was all thanks to you, Emilia. Your spellcasting was amazing. You trapped the Crystal Snatcher Bug in no time,” Narias complimented her instead.

“Oh, I… thank you,” that was enough to make Emilia catch a blush.

“Hey, this crystal is different from the other Magic Crystals we have found. ‘Water… Stone’. Huh? Water stone?” Flavia was confused about the name.

“That’s right. Rare monsters drop different types of items than the regular monsters. This Water Stone must be one of them,” Narias shared his thoughts.

“But it’s called a ‘water’ stone. How can a stone be called ‘water’?” the girl with the bunny ears and tail was puzzled.

“Water Stone. Contains Water Magic element. Good for crafting Water Magic items,” Growly explained in short sentences.

“Oh, so that’s how it is. Cool,” Flavia stared at the shiny, blue color stone. “Your dad could probably craft something out of it?”

“I think so,” Growly was short with his answer.

“Great. You can have it,” she extended the Water Stone to him.

“Huh?” but for some reason Growly was hesitant to take it.

“What’s wrong?” Flavia was puzzled.

“I think you should keep it, Flavia,” Narias joined in.

“What? Me? Why?” the girl with the bunny ears was even more confused.

“Neither of us could hear anything, but you noticed it was here. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have even found it. So, I believe it would be fair if you keep it,” he explained his point of view.

“I agree,” added Growly.

“But I wouldn’t know what to do with it,” Flavia threw her argument.

“You could… sell it. Or ask my dad to make something out of it,” the chubby bear boy suggested.

“Wow, really? Thanks,” Flavia had the widest smile on her face.
