Ram was facing Shar in the dining room of the Count of Mercure’s mansion.

I liked the potato salad appetizer, but the silence was awkward.

“Hmm, the carrot soup today is very delicious.”

“Want some?”

“Thank you…but, do you have something to tell me?”

I got my soup and waited for him to talk to me.

(I know what this is all about.)

Shar let out a long sigh to calm himself down and turned his red eyes to me.

“I’m honestly at a loss as to where to begin. Mysterious graffiti, magic that removes scars… Who exactly are you to perform these things that even I don’t know about? You said you read a book that was in your parents’ house before, but I’ve never seen or heard of such a book. It’s not something a daughter of a baron with no magical education can do.”

“Uhhh…”

“I’m a collector of literature myself, yet I’ve never seen anything like it. I am the Count of Mercure. I’d like to know what’s really going on here.”

I knew Shar did not fully believe my excuse.

But I didn’t think it was possible to be entirely honest with him.

I didn’t even know why I was reborn.

However, I realized that I would not be troubled if Shar knew the truth.

He’d probably look at me strangely, but on a second thought…it was a matter of no importance.

(If they take advantage of me or persecute me, I’ll just run away with the kids.)

I looked back into Shar’s eyes, thinking I should just say it.

“I’m sorry, but as you’ve thought, the literature from my parents’ house is a lie. I have memories from five hundred years ago, and I was a wizard of that time.”

“What? W-What…”

Shar frowned quizzically.

(I remember that Ram used to tremble whenever he looked at her in a seemingly sullen mood.)

I could see now that this was his true self.

“There was a time when my personality suddenly changed, right? It was because I recovered memories of my previous life. I was really just a sickly baron’s daughter before. I know you’re not going to believe this.”

“I’ve never heard of reincarnation.”

Naturally, Shar was out of his depth.

“I’ve never experienced this before. I’ve never been reincarnated in my previous life, and I don’t know how it happened.”

“That’s strange. If such useful techniques existed, the wizards of the House of Mercure would be immortal.”

“Don’t be ridiculous.”

If I were to fight a magical beast, was crushed, and got revived…It would be nothing but a nuisance to experience it over and over again.

In addition, when you were born, you couldn’t choose where you would be born nor could you have memories.

Even if I were to be resurrected at some point, I would ever return to the Mercure family. It was a rubbish house.

“I also have a question for you. I don’t know anything about the current magical situation.”

“You’ve been living in the present for twenty years. Wouldn’t you have some idea?”

“Normally, yes. But Ram was a severe recluse. She was weak, had no close friends, and had no thirst for knowledge. She didn’t know anything about … magic, let alone the current state of the world.”

“That’s an affliction.”

Believing it or not, Shirl replied and threw his arms out to either side in an ungentlemanly manner.

“If you want to know what’s going on in magic today, I’ll show you to my room. As I said earlier, I have a lot of literature.”

“Okay…?”

“I don’t care. I don’t believe a word you’ve said, but you’re my wife, for one thing. In return, teach me about graffiti and healing magic. It’s too risky to practice while imitating you.”

“Okay. I’ve been thinking of teaching it to the kids at the academy.”

After we had eaten all the food and dessert that had been served to us, I went with Shar to his study. I had never set foot in his study before, as it was his domain.

It was a large study with high ceilings, and the walls were lined with books.

“These are the books collected by the successive Counts of Mercure. I’ve learned many things here since I became the Count.”

“Do you have any books from 500 years ago?”

“Yes, but there are no ancient books on magic.”

“All right, let’s see what we can find.”

My eyes searched through the dated books and found a spine that looked very old.

However, it was placed on an upper shelf.

It was just high enough to reach.

(I can’t pull it out delicately.)

As I was reconsidering using my magic, a shadow suddenly fell behind me.

“This book?”

From behind me, Shar reached out and pulled out the book I was trying to get. His hand brushed my fingertips.

“Yeah, thank you.”

I thanked him as he took the book and flipped through the pages to check it out.

It seemed to be a book about different types of magic, written 200 years ago.

“Hmm…the situation 200 years ago is already as it is now…No Healing or Transference…Geez.”

I put my hand down and leaned on it when a section of the bookshelf clicked and began to move with a gurgling sound.

“Hey, Ram, did you touch the shelf mechanism?”

“I don’t know. I heard a sound coming from the bookshelf.”

Shar was unusually frantic. I’ve never seen him like this before.

Meanwhile, the room continued to move, and a passage appeared between the shelves.

“Oh, a hidden passage. There’s another room in the back.”

“No, stop it…”

Shar was getting impatient, but I ignored him because I was curious about the hidden room.

I opened the small door at the back and went inside…

An amazing space existed there.
