Chapter seventy three: War all out
Jamie thought of what to do. She had a symbol of the house of Namura. The necklace she always wore.
She took it out of her neck and threw it at Sir Craig.
"Why do you have the symbol of an eastern kingdom?" Craig asked her.
"Because I am princess Janessa of Namura. My father is King Jared"
"That is a lie, the last I heard, princess Janessa was in exile!" Sir Craig yelled like she committed blasphemy.
Sir Craig let go of the arrow and it went straight for max but Jamie caught it with her hand before it could do any damage. She pulled out one of her ankle blade and threw it and it landed on Craig's shoulder. Jamie wanted to yell bull's eye.
Jamie's jubilation was caught short when one of Craig's men aimed an arrow at her. Before Jamie could react, Max already sank his teeth into the culprit's arm.
Jamie wanted to help. He was clearly out numbered. She took out her remaining ankle blade and went to fight one of the knights.
She aimed for his collar bone but the knight easily deflected it and came after her.
Max left the man that pointed an arrow at his Luna for the one aiming a sword at her and left himself completely exposed.
He ignored the pain that went through his back as he sank his teeth into lunatic's thigh. More knights were beginning to appear out of nowhere until four turned into nine and all of them looked willing to kill Max.
Jamie stood beside him as he howled. Everyone had their blades out and the more Jamie and the wolf took a step back the closer they came.
One of the knights came closer and Jamie went for his sword but he retreated and it was out of her reach once again. She knew they were going to die but she wasn't afraid. Max was bleeding from his back and Jamie's feet had bruises.
Sir Craig pulled out the blade Jamie had impaled on his shoulder and went after her with vengeance. Jamie wanted to fight back but she had no weapon with her and Max was fending off the rest of them. She thought she was going to die when out of nowhere another wolf jumped on Craig.
Semeen! Max yelled as their mind linked almost immediately.
"I am here, Alpha Max…Just a little bit occupied!" Semeen refused to let go of Sir Craig's leg and took a pound of flesh when she finally did.
"Protect the Luna with your life, Semeen" Max ordered.
I know my duty. Semeen wanted to yell. She didn't need any other remainder that she had to protect the human girl. It was an insult but she had willingly surrendered her authority to the Alpha King.
"Don't kill. We don't want to start a war" Alexander ordered too.
"Your highness?" Semeen sounded confused.
"Long story, Alpha Luna… Long story!"
Semeen stopped with Craig's leg. He was almost unconscious due to blood lost.
"Thank you" Jamie muttered to her new friend.
Semeen howled at the air. Few minutes later, four more wolves joined the winning team and the knights started to retreat.
"Where did you all come from?" Jamie asked no one in particular. Some of the knights were starting to retreat. Two picked up the almost lifeless body of Sir Craig and took off.
Jamie almost took a breath of relief when suddenly an arrow flew towards Semeen. She tried to catch it but she slipped and it went through her open palm instead.
Jamie screamed as the pain went through her.
Semeen froze. The human girl had saved her life. Jamie tried to stop herself from screaming but the pain was unbearable. Max and Alexander howled louder than they have ever done before.
"Your highness, run!" Semeen told him.
"Why?" Alexander asked.
"Because you are becoming human again"
Alexander took off deeper into the forest before he fully changed to his human form.
Jamie pulled herself to rest her frame against the tree. Semeen refused to leave her even after she ordered the rest to leave.
"Go away, now" Jamie spoke softly to the brown wolf "You have to go with your family. They will be back and they will kill you. Go! Run, okay?"
Semeen stared at her one more time before she took off. She knew Alexander would be there with her soon and he had the ability to stop the attack.
Jamie tried to pull out the arrow but the more she pulled, the more she bled until she was at the edge of passing out.
Her eyes felt heavy and consciousness was fleeting. She slightly made out the frame of a man running towards her when she finally passed out.
Alexander rushed to her side. She wasn't awake anymore. Bollocks! He was late and she was unconscious. Finding the bag he hid in the forest was more difficult than he thought it would be and he was a few minutes late.
"Janessa! Wake up. Come on, sweetheart.... Keep your eyes open" Alexander touched her forehead first. He didn't know why he did that. The first thing he should have done was to check for a pulse. Was she breathing?
"Janessa, stay with me darling... stay with me" he tried to carry her when he heard people coming towards them.
Just like predicted, the knights came back with more people including some of King Alexander's knights.
"They were here...." The man pointed towards the place Alexander's body crouched over Jamie.
Alexander stood up with Jamie in his arms.
"Your highness?" His knight had a surprise look on their faces.
"Seize them!" Alexander barked at them.
Suddenly every spear was pointed at the man that threatened Jamie and his cohorts. Alexander watched as blood drained from their faces when they saw him holding the woman they tried to kill.
"I will wipe out your entire linage if she doesn't survive.. Do you believe me?" Alexander asked the man that said he wanted his wife for a million and one thing.
