"I'll send you home," Jeremy told Ryn once they were done with their dinner. The couple was actually walking behind the group, trying not to attract attention to them. He even helped to dispose of the evidence of what she did to the vegetable behind their back too, which she was grateful about.
"Hmm…" she nodded. She was getting tired from the journey as well as from the dinner. She just wanted to go home and sleep. She could not hold it anymore.
"Ryn, my dear," suddenly another voice broke the couple's conversation and both Ryn and Jeremy almost freeze. Their eyes widened as they watched Mrs. Long approached them with a huge smile on her face. She was alone, though, as her husband was helping her mother-in-law walking to the car that was waiting outside.
Unconsciously, Ryn reached for Jeremy's hand for strength.
"Why don't you spend the night at our house?" Mrs. Long suggested. "You must be exhausted from the flight. If you go home, you have to deal with all the dust and everything. Just come with us and rest."
Jeremy was happy with the plan. He wished they were alone so he could go and hug and kiss his mother's cheeks for having such a brilliant idea. He approved it immediately. No need to think anymore.
He turned to look at Ryn, full of expectation and hope.
Ryn gave the dowager a shocked look, but she managed to cover it with a weak smile. She took a deep breath, aware that every pair of eyes were looking at her, waiting for her answer. Unconsciously, she reached for Jeremy's hand for strength. She felt a bit strange when Jason's parents did not seem unhappy with the way Long's family was treating her. Shouldn't tonight's dinner be about them? About the union of these two families? Why none of them commented how the Long kept including her?
She felt so awkward on behalf of them.
"Just spend the night with us. Tomorrow morning, we will send you home," Mrs. Long said as she wrapped her arm around Ryn, neatly pushing Jeremy aside.
Jeremy looked at his mother, trying not to show his displeasure. What was going on right now?
Why did it feel like his mother was trying to 'steal' Ryn from him?
"You must be tired from the journey," Mrs. Long said with a motherly smile. She did not go to her own daughter because she saw how her daughter was being tended lovingly by Jason. She did not want to disturb her daughter. Ryn, on the other hand, seemed to be too sleepy to care about the loving look of her son. Hence, she decided to 'protect' Ryn.
"I can go home, aunty," Ryn replied slowly. She was afraid to hurt the older woman but at the same time, she did not want to sleep in another place but hers. She did not think she could handle more drama after the dinner.
Even if she had to take a taxi, she would. As long as she could sleep on her own bed, she did not mind spending money on the fare.
"Nonsense. You're a young lady and it's late at night. You just come with us. You can take the guest room so don't worry," Mrs. Long assured. She did not want to put pressure on the young lady to carry the family's heir. Knowing that her son and young Ryn were destined to be together, she did not mind it would take some time before she could see her future grandchildren. Of course, with Mika's wedding date getting closer, she had no doubt her daughter would carry a child pretty soon, seeing how much in love Jason was toward her. She was not worried at all.
But at the same time, she just wished to have a little bun to carry the family's name. Jason and Mika's children would carry the Wu's name so those children 'belong' to them, not the Long. Despite them being modern parents, they still needed to make sure their family line did not end during their time.
And for the first baby, either from Mika's w.o.m.b or Ryn's, she was hoping for a little princess so she could spoil the baby to her heart's content. So many cute little princesses' dresses to choose from and even headdresses... so many styles and designs to choose from. And she could use the little bun for her model. She would create a small studio just to take pictures of the baby.
Oooh... she could not wait for the day she could spoil the baby with pretty little dresses and accessories.
Her sparkled eyes actually made Ryn a bit worried. Why would Jeremy's mother give her that weird look? Was she being kept dark of something? Did the elder woman have another plan for her at the mansion and hence, insisted for her to go with them back to the mansion?
She glanced at Jeremy worriedly but her boyfriend was actually making the same puppy-eyed look at her. He did not even look at his own mother. Her lips twitched at the sight.
Why did she feel like she was facing two 'Mika's? The childish Mikas?
She glanced at the real Mika and found her best friend was leaning sleepily against Jason as the man holding her carefully so she would not fall. He chatted with his parents but never once let Mika go.
Ryn's eyes softened at the sight. She felt happy for Mika and wanted nothing more than for Mika to be happy forever. She did not want to see her best friend sad.
Her eyes landed on her boyfriend, Jeremy, and sighed a bit. She could guess what he wanted and it was not the same as his mother. Obviously, he wanted her to follow him back to the condo, contrary to what she and his mother wanted.
Oh, she felt a headache coming. She was sleepy and did not wish to face this kind of problem. Was it that hard to just send her home?
She stole glances at Mr. Long instead, hoping the elder man could help her. Surely he would understand what she wanted and would support her. She was only the girlfriend, not the fiancee or a wife. It would not seem appropriate for her to go to either Jeremy's condo or the mansion.

Maybe it was coincident or fate but Mr. Long suddenly turned to look at the trio. With a smile, he actually retracted his steps to approach his wife. His long arm casually wrapped around her waist.
"Love, aren't you cold standing outside like this?" he asked his wife after smiling at Ryn. He did not even glance at his own son. His entire attention was on his lovely wife. Hmm... maybe he could coax her for another trip around the world for their fourth honeymoon. Hmm... right after their youngest's wedding he would start his plan.
Mr. Long hid his cheeky grin as he bent down to look at his petite wife.
He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her.

"She can stay at the condo. Mika will return to Jason's," Jeremy suddenly spoke out. He held Ryn's hand, refused to let go.
