“I’ll have to here,” he said. “This is Berserker Armor,” he announced. “It has a Painless Enchant so I can’t feel pain. My HP gain per hour is pretty high, so it shouldn’t be too bad. But also we have lots of people that can heal here. Yes, I could use this to keep going when I shouldn’t be able to. But it’s not as bad as you expect, Keera. With healers, I should never be in any danger.”
There were a few grumbles. “I’ll take it off if it becomes a problem. But you’ll see it's needed soon.” No more complaints, he walked them into the gem land. They were on the East side. Heading straight West he stepped forward and knocked hard on the first giant pillar they came across. Nothing happened. They continued walking. Tree size gems fell as people touched them, but Asher ignored it.

But with 10 people focusing on attacking a single point they were able to knock it down and kill it without casualties. They didn’t like it when Asher moved them onto the next one. Not super great on experience, it was still worth it. They got the Mana Hearts and moved onto a new crystal pylon. They decided to go round robin with them.
This became great training. As they circulated mana throughout their body they were able to test how it affected their strength and skills. Asher was able to keep aggro most of the time, so they simply attacked.
Tiff used her new Emotion Control to keep everyone level headed and practiced throwing stuff with her Telekinesis. It didn’t do a lot of damage but it was great experience. Abby was able to expel all of her mana, then would start attacking as it recharged. Her Destructo Disc wasn’t strong enough to do a bunch of damage, but now it had leveled up to leave gouges in the diamond golems.

They had killed almost 20 and were able to down one in 10 minutes by the time they came to the valley. It was wide, perhaps half a mile in diameter. It looked like a giant crater that went down about 100 feet. There were no tree size gems, or any of the giant 40 story tall ones. There was simply a giant golem at the center of the valley.

“Means an outlier,” Asher admitted. “Like an Elite Boss.” He looked around. No one spoke. They knew what they were there for. “Same tactic as before,” he said. “This one will probably be smarter. Gonna hit harder too. Don’t be surprised if I go flying.” Without further ado Asher cast Intimidation. Yelling into the valley his roar echoed. The Crystal Deth shifted and looked up at him. Slowly it stood. Now 60 feet tall it was quite bulky. Asher noticed the blue glow of the Mana Branch underneath it. The Branch was much thicker, and he guessed it was close to the Leyline.
The Earth shook violently as the Deth stared at them. Crystal covered Earth shifted and crunched together. “Yep, there’s the Corruption,” Asher said. The Deth roared and started running at them. Heavy stomps crushed crystal underneath its feet with each footfall. Asher lifted his sword.
He took 2 steps then leapt into the valley. Focusing mana into his sword it glowed white as Justice was cast. The blade extended an extra 10 feet from his sword as he brought it down at the golem. It lifted its arms. His blade cut right through them and a large gash appeared in the Deth’s chest.
Asher landed and jumped back. The giant golem stared at him but already its arms were regrowing. Crystal Mana surrounded it like an aura. “This is gonna take a while,” Asher said as the beast ran at him again.

They were all tired of course, but there were 11 of them. Together they were doing way more damage than they would alone. This was the perfect time to train, and he needed to keep pushing them. Besides, Tiff told him to cure the Corruption. This thing was leeching off the mana of the planet like an addict. Everytime it started or stopped absorbing mana the area shook.
“New plan,” Asher yelled. Keera was next to him so she made his voice carry. “Pulling this bad boy out of here. No stopping till it’s dead. You all catch up. Nadir and Keera distract it if it tries to run back.” He cast Intimidation again. His roar echoed. The Deth finally finished with its meal and was now larger.
*Tiint Crystal Deth**

It had apparently leveled just by absorbing pure mana. Asher began to sweat, but he had already made his decision. Staring at one another Asher flipped the monster off. His body still covered in armor he felt pretty badass at the moment. The Deth sensed his intent and started running for him. Asher let it come. As it ran up the slope of the valley he poured his mana into his legs and jumped at it. His momentum carried them both to the ground.
Asher jumped off of it and back outside the valley as crystals were formed on his skin from the dense mana of the beast. The Deth roared again as its crystals morphed. The golem changed it’s form to that of a bull. Thick legs, and horns on its head Asher said, “I hope this is it’s final form,” as he began to jump away.
It took them half an hour to escape the crystal zone. Asher jumped from spot to spot as the Deth stampeded toward him. No worry about the giant crystals Asher tried to think of where to take it. The others would need time to catch up to them. He couldn’t stay too close because the golem would be able to get back in time.
Could he get to the horse island? Or maybe the ape’s trees and his people could attack from above? No, he needed to trust in Nadir and Keera’s illusions to keep it from going back. He couldn’t spend a day running to somewhere when that could be time his team was attacking.
Asher picked the peak of a sand dune and made his stand. The crystal bull morphed back into a golem as it walked toward him confidently. Focusing, Asher brought his blade up and blocked a crystal thrown at him. Covered from head to foot he didn’t have any pain at the moment.
They started their attack of one another again. The Deth extended its arm into a long line of crystals and whipped it at him. Asher blocked it only to jump and slash at the arm. Crystal Mana was thrown at him causing him to be encased in it, Asher flexed breaking it apart. Tiny crystals were forced inside his armor with the crystal tomb. Only taking a few damage he jumped at it again.
It took his team hours to get back to him. By the time they arrived the golem and he had worn a path in the sand. They continuously attacked one another. So many tiny crystals leaking through into his gear Asher was bleeding profusely. He was able to ignore it mostly, but when he stumbled it became obvious he was getting low on health.
Then a blinding white light covered him and he saw his father leaving the crystal zone running at him. His staff in hand Asher felt refreshed and ready to keep going. He poured mana into his body and dodged a punch down from the golem. He jumped and hit the thing so hard it stumbled back. The section he hit cracked, but then healed.
The others taking up positions they began to bombard it with magic. After 12 hours the golem had deep craters in it’s body. Since they moved around so much it was hard to focus on one part. The Deth didn’t like this. It made a run for the crystal zone, but Nadir and Keera worked together. Nadir made a giant wall, and Keera cast her projection of Asher on it. He used his Intimidation and brought it back to him.
Crystal Deth was not happy when it ran back. Crystal Mana poured out of it once more, causing large shards to shoot out of its body. It then charged at Asher. The sharp chunks tried to stab into him, but they were much weaker. A simple swipe caused them to break off. The casters soon had all the new crystal broken off and were focusing on the craters in its body.
Asher wasn’t sure how long it took, he was fighting for all he had. He had been dropped down in health and healed so many times he wasn’t sure if he was fine or not. Asher continued to pour mana into his body and attacks and waited for his MP to replenish. At some point the Deth stumbled. They were able to focus on a hole in its side with that. Soon chunks began falling off of it from the hole as it was pelted with mana and rocks. Everyone took a turn using all they had.
When it got back up the monster finally focused on someone besides Asher. Going for Tiff it stupidly ran at her but she flew away and started kiting and taunting it. Asher used this chance. He chugged a mana potion and began to focus Justice. His sword glowing white hot he chased after the golem and with all he had sunk his blade deep into the biggest crater. The Deth roared knocking him away.
Asher landed in a sand dune but watched as his sword glowed white. Still embedded in the monster, Deth tried to pull it out as crystals broke off from it. Soon it’s arm fell off, then the other. Then a leg broke off causing it to teeter over. As it hit the sand the boss burst into a million pieces.
Catching his breath Asher willed his gear away as he got up. Feeling wind on him for the first time in days he let it dry the sweat from his skin. He heard cheers all around as people came over dunes to see the pile of Crystal Deth.

“Are there monsters?” Abby asked.
“Only giant ones,” he said. “Took me a long time to kill one, but with 11 of us I think we can do it faster.” He changed his clothes to the Berserker armor. Black metal on every inch of his body. Metal layered upon each other. The helm met at a point where his face was. Sharp protrusions like teeth separated the top and bottom of the helm. He looked at them through the holes in the eyes.
“Hey, you said you wouldn’t use that,” Tiff said pouting.
“I’ll have to here,” he said. “This is Berserker Armor,” he announced. “It has a Painless Enchant so I can’t feel pain. My HP gain per hour is pretty high, so it shouldn’t be too bad. But also we have lots of people that can heal here. Yes, I could use this to keep going when I shouldn’t be able to. But it’s not as bad as you expect, Keera. With healers, I should never be in any danger.”
There were a few grumbles. “I’ll take it off if it becomes a problem. But you’ll see it's needed soon.” No more complaints, he walked them into the gem land. They were on the East side. Heading straight West he stepped forward and knocked hard on the first giant pillar they came across. Nothing happened. They continued walking. Tree size gems fell as people touched them, but Asher ignored it.
A heavy Earthquake shook them as they came up to the next pillar. They had only gotten worse as they headed West. When Asher came up to another pillar he hit it, and this time it began to shed the outer layer.
“Step back,” Asher ordered as chunk after chunk fell off. “I will tank it alone,” he said, his voice echoing in his helm. “Group 1 to it’s right, Group 2 to its left. Focus on dealing damage. If I lose aggro Keera and Nadir hide everyone.”

It took them 3 hours to kill the first one. Everyone had been stabbed by the Crystal Mana at least once, and admitted the need for his armor. But with 10 people focusing on attacking a single point they were able to knock it down and kill it without casualties. They didn’t like it when Asher moved them onto the next one. In a Raid Group they were able to gain about half the experience they would from a normal group. They were all averaging about 2,000 experience per giant golem. Not super great on experience, it was still worth it. They got the Mana Hearts and moved onto a new crystal pylon. They decided to go round robin with them.
This became great training. As they circulated mana throughout their body they were able to test how it affected their strength and skills. Asher was able to keep aggro most of the time, so they simply attacked.
Tiff used her new Emotion Control to keep everyone level headed and practiced throwing stuff with her Telekinesis. It didn’t do a lot of damage but it was great experience. Abby was able to expel all of her mana, then would start attacking as it recharged. Her Destructo Disc wasn’t strong enough to do a bunch of damage, but now it had leveled up to leave gouges in the diamond golems.
His mother attacked it with her holy charged sword. His dad stayed close to him, always healing. Nadir and Keera were able to practice Illusions. Keera used her mana pistol. Nadir attacked now and then. Ming and Khan moved from attacking to magic. Alice got some new lightning attack and was able to use it as well.
They had killed almost 20 and were able to down one in 10 minutes by the time they came to the valley. It was wide, perhaps half a mile in diameter. It looked like a giant crater that went down about 100 feet. There were no tree size gems, or any of the giant 40 story tall ones. There was simply a giant golem at the center of the valley.
The huge form still resembled a humanoid, but Asher noticed many gems poking out of the body that weren’t on the other golems. They littered it’s crystalline form like tumors. Asher used Identification on the golem.
**Tiint Crystal Deth**
Level 45
Asher rolled his eyes at the System’s naming scheme. “What’s the double asterisk?” Abby asked. Apparently they had all been raising Identification enough to see the level.
“Means an outlier,” Asher admitted. “Like an Elite Boss.” He looked around. No one spoke. They knew what they were there for. “Same tactic as before,” he said. “This one will probably be smarter. Gonna hit harder too. Don’t be surprised if I go flying.” Without further ado Asher cast Intimidation. Yelling into the valley his roar echoed. The Crystal Deth shifted and looked up at him. Slowly it stood. Now 60 feet tall it was quite bulky. Asher noticed the blue glow of the Mana Branch underneath it. The Branch was much thicker, and he guessed it was close to the Leyline.
The Earth shook violently as the Deth stared at them. Crystal covered Earth shifted and crunched together. “Yep, there’s the Corruption,” Asher said. The Deth roared and started running at them. Heavy stomps crushed crystal underneath its feet with each footfall. Asher lifted his sword.
He took 2 steps then leapt into the valley. Focusing mana into his sword it glowed white as Justice was cast. The blade extended an extra 10 feet from his sword as he brought it down at the golem. It lifted its arms. His blade cut right through them and a large gash appeared in the Deth’s chest.
Asher landed and jumped back. The giant golem stared at him but already its arms were regrowing. Crystal Mana surrounded it like an aura. “This is gonna take a while,” Asher said as the beast ran at him again.

It took them 26 hours to break through and make a large cavity on its back. Asher kept its focus the entire time, and they never strayed from the valley. So close to the Leyline their mana refilled almost instantly. Asher should have realized this was bad sooner, but he was a little busy.
When the Deth noticed that they were getting close to it’s Mana Heart he threw Asher out of the valley hard. Landing against one of the pillars he didn’t wait and ran back only to find the golem back on it’s seat. The Earth shook as mana poured out of the Leyline into the Deth. He watched as all the damage they had done to its exterior was healed. Others looked to him for guidance, but Asher bit his lip as he thought.
They were all tired of course, but there were 11 of them. Together they were doing way more damage than they would alone. This was the perfect time to train, and he needed to keep pushing them. Besides, Tiff told him to cure the Corruption. This thing was leeching off the mana of the planet like an addict. Everytime it started or stopped absorbing mana the area shook.
“New plan,” Asher yelled. Keera was next to him so she made his voice carry. “Pulling this bad boy out of here. No stopping till it’s dead. You all catch up. Nadir and Keera distract it if it tries to run back.” He cast Intimidation again. His roar echoed. The Deth finally finished with its meal and was now larger.
*Tiint Crystal Deth**
Level 46
It had apparently leveled just by absorbing pure mana. Asher began to sweat, but he had already made his decision. Staring at one another Asher flipped the monster off. His body still covered in armor he felt pretty badass at the moment. The Deth sensed his intent and started running for him. Asher let it come. As it ran up the slope of the valley he poured his mana into his legs and jumped at it. His momentum carried them both to the ground.
Asher jumped off of it and back outside the valley as crystals were formed on his skin from the dense mana of the beast. The Deth roared again as its crystals morphed. The golem changed it’s form to that of a bull. Thick legs, and horns on its head Asher said, “I hope this is it’s final form,” as he began to jump away.
It took them half an hour to escape the crystal zone. Asher jumped from spot to spot as the Deth stampeded toward him. No worry about the giant crystals Asher tried to think of where to take it. The others would need time to catch up to them. He couldn’t stay too close because the golem would be able to get back in time.
Could he get to the horse island? Or maybe the ape’s trees and his people could attack from above? No, he needed to trust in Nadir and Keera’s illusions to keep it from going back. He couldn’t spend a day running to somewhere when that could be time his team was attacking.
Asher picked the peak of a sand dune and made his stand. The crystal bull morphed back into a golem as it walked toward him confidently. Focusing, Asher brought his blade up and blocked a crystal thrown at him. Covered from head to foot he didn’t have any pain at the moment.
They started their attack of one another again. The Deth extended its arm into a long line of crystals and whipped it at him. Asher blocked it only to jump and slash at the arm. Crystal Mana was thrown at him causing him to be encased in it, Asher flexed breaking it apart. Tiny crystals were forced inside his armor with the crystal tomb. Only taking a few damage he jumped at it again.
It took his team hours to get back to him. By the time they arrived the golem and he had worn a path in the sand. They continuously attacked one another. So many tiny crystals leaking through into his gear Asher was bleeding profusely. He was able to ignore it mostly, but when he stumbled it became obvious he was getting low on health.
Then a blinding white light covered him and he saw his father leaving the crystal zone running at him. His staff in hand Asher felt refreshed and ready to keep going. He poured mana into his body and dodged a punch down from the golem. He jumped and hit the thing so hard it stumbled back. The section he hit cracked, but then healed.
The others taking up positions they began to bombard it with magic. After 12 hours the golem had deep craters in it’s body. Since they moved around so much it was hard to focus on one part. The Deth didn’t like this. It made a run for the crystal zone, but Nadir and Keera worked together. Nadir made a giant wall, and Keera cast her projection of Asher on it. He used his Intimidation and brought it back to him.
Crystal Deth was not happy when it ran back. Crystal Mana poured out of it once more, causing large shards to shoot out of its body. It then charged at Asher. The sharp chunks tried to stab into him, but they were much weaker. A simple swipe caused them to break off. The casters soon had all the new crystal broken off and were focusing on the craters in its body.
Asher wasn’t sure how long it took, he was fighting for all he had. He had been dropped down in health and healed so many times he wasn’t sure if he was fine or not. Asher continued to pour mana into his body and attacks and waited for his MP to replenish. At some point the Deth stumbled. They were able to focus on a hole in its side with that. Soon chunks began falling off of it from the hole as it was pelted with mana and rocks. Everyone took a turn using all they had.
When it got back up the monster finally focused on someone besides Asher. Going for Tiff it stupidly ran at her but she flew away and started kiting and taunting it. Asher used this chance. He chugged a mana potion and began to focus Justice. His sword glowing white hot he chased after the golem and with all he had sunk his blade deep into the biggest crater. The Deth roared knocking him away.
Asher landed in a sand dune but watched as his sword glowed white. Still embedded in the monster, Deth tried to pull it out as crystals broke off from it. Soon it’s arm fell off, then the other. Then a leg broke off causing it to teeter over. As it hit the sand the boss burst into a million pieces.
Catching his breath Asher willed his gear away as he got up. Feeling wind on him for the first time in days he let it dry the sweat from his skin. He heard cheers all around as people came over dunes to see the pile of Crystal Deth.
“We did it!” Tiff yelled slamming into him. She knocked them both over as they landed in the sand.
Too tired to do much else he wrapped his arms around her and laid there. “We did,” he said. “Great job kiting my little tweety bird.”
“Of course. Couldn’t have done this without me,” she said resting her head on his arm. She didn’t mind the smell of the cherry flavored sweat.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” he said as he pushed them up. He set her on his shoulders as they walked to the others. She made him lean over far as they stared at the giant purple Mana Heart. It was about 4 feet in diameter. Not the biggest he had seen, but still pretty big. The fact it was evolving was no surprise to him.
“What now?” His mother asked as she too got rid of her armor.
“Well, we have 20 hours left,” His father said. Asher hadn’t realized how long they had been fighting. So focused on attacking and defending it may have been a new record for him, it definitely was for the rest of them.
“I’d like to cover the Leyline hole,” Asher said.
“I want to see the horsies,” Tiff said. Asher focused on the Leyline, he didn’t want a stray thought to reach her.
“I want to sleep,” Abby said. They all agreed.
Asher checked the contribution points and they were all in the top 11 spots. A far lead from the others he hoped the other challengers sweated until the end. They spent the next 20 hours doing what they wanted. Asher said he thought he saw horses to the Northwest. Tiff and Atalanta flew off in that direction. Asher and the others broke off crystals and sealed up the large hole in the ground where the Leyline was poking out. Ming and Vincent had leveled their fire skill enough to melt the weak diamonds around it.
The patch wouldn’t last forever, but maybe long enough for it to recover and strengthen. After that they rested. Sleeping and eating until everything turned white and they disappeared.
