The team had been fighting countless battles with the beasts the past few days and had seen the cruelty of the battlefield. They were all worn out and tired, but none of them had seen anyone coming out of battle looking like Xiang Ning.
What had he gone through to become like this?

Fang Rou hurriedly grabbed a passing doctor. “Doctor! What’s Xiang Ning’s condition?” She pointed at him worryingly.
“Oh, Xiang Ning. The student from Marsh City? He’s safe. I checked his vitals and there doesn’t seem to be much of an issue, it was just that his body consumed a lot of energy, causing some minor damage to his organs and muscles from atrophy. As long as he remains in the recovery capsule, he should be fine.”
“Then when will he wake up?”
“He should’ve woken up long ago, since he’s been absorbing recovery fluid for such a long time. It’s a bit strange that he still hasn’t woken up, but we’ll continue monitoring him for the time being. His vitals are stable, so please rest assured that he’ll be alright,” The doctor reassured Fang Rou. He had been a doctor for a very long time and had seen many deaths. Many martial artists couldn’t pay the fees needed for the usage of the recovery capsule and died. Some of them even had to leave before their bodies had even recovered completely.
Those were the people who would be crippled or die in some way or another. Xiang Ning was just another patient, but the doctor took special note of him since he had been there a few times. The recovery capsule room wasn’t a place where regular people could just walk in.

“Thank you, doctor!” Fang Rou sighed and thanked him.

All of them left the room. When they passed by the observation window, Fang Rou took one last longing gaze at Xiang Ning. Maybe it was because of her prayers, or perhaps Xiang Ning had sensed her gaze, but his eyelids fluttered open and he took a deep breath.

He gently smiled. Even though his body was still absorbing recovery fluid, he slowly opened the door to his capsule and emerged. His speed wasn’t fast, but he soon reached the window and placed his hand on it. Fang Rou did the same on the opposite side. The glass was cold, but for some reason, they could feel each others’ warmth through it.
The other three slowly backed away without a sound. The pair’s feelings for each other had been laid bare. The doctor gave them some time, but after a while, he felt suffocated and couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Sir, your wounds still aren’t fully healed. Please go back to the recovery capsule.” It was the same doctor Fang Rou had talked to just moments ago. “Also, please ask your girlfriend to go back and rest. She’s been standing there for two days and two nights.”
Xiang Ning's eyes widened when he heard that. He glared at her but she avoided his gaze. He walked toward the changing room and put on a white gown. The doctor was confused, but Xiang Ning ignored him as he headed out and finally stood in front of Fang Rou. Before she could say anything, he placed her over his lap and spanked her like a child.
The doctor was too stunned to speak.
“Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow! I know I’m in the wrong, I’ll go back and rest. Really! Please believe me! Spare me! It’s too embarrassing! Everyone’s watching!” Fang Rou was embarrassed and desperately wanted to hide her face.
Xiang Ning scoffed and carried her.
Fang Hao was waiting for Fang Rou outside, but when he only saw Li Zimo, Liu Ruoxue, and Lu Shiyu coming out, he was confused. “Where’s my sister?”
“She’s still in there.”
Fang Hao felt uneasy. After another three minutes or so, he saw Xiang Ning walking out with Fang Rou in his hands. He was carrying her like a princess! One look at her blushing face and Fang Hao almost kicked the brat away.
He forced a smile as he walked up to Xiang Ning. “Hey Xiang Ning, your body’s still in pretty bad shape and Fang Rou’s already tired. Come, put her down. I’ll carry her back to rest. She’s been standing for too long”
Fang Rou wanted to agree. She felt restricted. It wasn’t that she hated it, but the attention they were getting was embarrassing. She just wanted to hide in a hole.
But Xiang Ning only held her tighter and chuckled, “No need, you’re wounded too. In fact, your wounds are more serious. Look! Your hand is even in a cast. Don’t worry, Fang Rou’s very light, there will be no problems.”
“No no, I insist. My sister is a lazy ass that’s been putting on weight. I was thinking of letting her do more exercise. There’s no problem with that.”
“No, no, I think she’s fine just the way she is. I like a little meat on her, that’s why she’s so cute. Or are you stuck in the previous generation where they all think a girl should be skinny to be attractive?”

Everyone just stood there thinking about how childish the two siscons were to be bickering like this.
Old Zhou could finally stand it no longer and walked over. “Young master, there’s a message for you.”
Fang Hao lamented the timing of the message.
Xiang Ning used the chance to walk away, leaving behind a grumpy Fang Hao.

Xiang Ning was silent the entire time as he briskly walked. Fang Rou looked at how fast her surroundings were passing by as she felt safe in his arms. But then she realized something was wrong. He wasn’t heading to her dorm, but his own room instead!
Fang Rou thought that he had accidentally gone the wrong way, but when they arrived she finally realized that he’d intended to come here from the start! He lightly placed her on the bed as she tried to fake sleeping. She curled up like a cat, letting out small sighs as if she was sleeping.
Xiang Ning smiled as he saw how hard she was trying to fake it.
The morning sun shone through the slits of the curtains and bathed them in its warm glow. Xiang Ning stood in front of her as she wondered what he was doing.
She suddenly felt something warm on her head and she almost screamed. Soon she found that her legs had intertwined with his as Xiang Ning embraced her, his body sticking close to hers.
She slowly raised her head to look at him. His face was still thin, but strangely enough, she felt very safe with him.
Xiang Ning felt her gaze and softly whispered. “Close your eyes and sleep or I’ll pinch your cheeks again.”
Fang Rou heard him loud and clear. She cuddled closer and softly whispered under her breath, “Idiot.”
She soon drifted to sleep.
