It was time to take a break and tidy up their clothes.

Nina was caught in both arms and entered the lounge. They flashed their eyes and asked questions about the knight missions and Bellac, and Nina answered with a smile.

She was often asked how to become a knight, and she replied that if they had the skills, they were welcomed to take the entrance exam.

As the hot topic of conversation shifted elsewhere, Nina sneaked up from her seat.

When leaving the rest area, there was a corridor directly connected to the garden, and the ballroom was connected to the end of the corridor.

As she quietly stepped into the garden, she saw it had a different feel at night.

Through the dark shrubs and the splendid shade of the fountain, Nina could find Jean lying with his legs stretched out on the floor.

Nina’s mouth opened wide and she let out laughter.

“Jean? what are you doing?”

“I’m tired, so I’m taking a break.”

At his answer, Nina looked at the bottle next to Jean and asked, “Are you drunk?”

“No, I’m not.”

Jean answered in a calm voice and Nina sat down next to him.

“Then why are you lying down?”

“I’m too lazy to stand or sit.”

“Are you okay?”

Nina asked as she leaned her torso over him. Jean looked back at Nina.

“Is there anything you would like to have?”

“All of a sudden?”

Nina pondered and shook her head.

“No, not really.”

“What about a precious person?”

“There’s one. It’s right in front of my eyes.”

At Nina’s words, he smirked and stretched out his hand for her cheek. In an instant, his expression became very serious. His green eyes shone distinctly in the darkness.

The silence grew longer.

Nina softly called, “Jean?” and he took his hand off plopping it back to the floor.

“Then it’s all right.”

“What? What is it? Does it have anything to do with the conversation with that Saint earlier?”

“Oh, there is. But it’s not something I’m going to say to you.”

“Did you talk behind my back?”

Jean burst out laughing at Nina’s words. He reached out and pulled Nina.

Nina fell over and raised her voice, “Jean!”

“You know, why don’t you get rid of the idea that everything in the world revolves around you?”

“Why? I am so cute.”

He sighed deeply as Nina blinked her eyes, then he pulled Nina’s cheek once and let it go.

“How did my life become like this because I got entangled with you?”

“Does it look like a star or a moon?”

“Okay, go, go.”

“No. I’m not going to leave you here lying down and getting drunk.”

“I’m not drunk.”

Nina grabbed the talking Jean’s arm and lifted him up. As she held him up without much difficulty, Jean took a deep breath and ruffled his red hair.

It smelled like alcohol every time he moved.

“Oh, the smell of alcohol. Who says they are not drunk! You are drunk!”

“I’m really fine. When I get angry, people…”

Mumbling, Jean shut his mouth. Nina was now worried.

“Are you really okay? What did you talk about with the Saint? She didn’t say anything weird, did she?”

“She said strange things and I got angry.”

He grinned at Nina.

“Don’t worry. Because I’m fine.”

And folded his arms

“More than that, let’s have a serious talk with me later.”

“About?”

“After the ball, later. Tomorrow.”

“All right.”

Nina replied calmly and Jean pushed her back.

“Go in. I’ll stay a little longer.”

“Okay.”

Jean beckoned her to go quickly when Nina looked at him worriedly, and he folded his arms when she was on her way back.

“Do you have anything precious?”

“Then I’ll let you have it.”

“Don’t you want to get your hands on it?”

“Make it your own.”

I can still hear that eerie, sticky whisper.

“I must have been really drunk.”

He looked at his wrist and whispered to the spirit.

“Is there any way to sober up? Like cold water pouring out? No. Hold on–.”

Coldwater instantly splashed down on him and he got wet. It was cold-icy water that made anyone spontaneously scream out.

“Nuhuhuhga!”

Without realizing it, a strange noise came out of his mouth as he jumped in place.

His drunken mind ran away at once. Jean, who stood silently, dripping water, ruffled his wet hair.

“Uh, yeah. I’m really awake, I’m awake. It’s a good reminder that people shouldn’t get wrong words out for nothing.”

Jean, who complained, sighed, wondering how to explain his actual appearance.

Lucrezia was in a bad mood.

-If something happens to me, she’ll cry.

-She says she’s really afraid she’ll cry until her eyes melt.

-And that’s enough for me.

What did he even say after all that?

-You don’t know how to value precious things.

There’s no such a thing.

Where in the world could there be such a thing?

Talking like a coward or something like that.

Saying that they will pay any price for something precious and talking likes cowards who can’t get their hands on it.

Such bullshit.

Lucrezia looked down at her hands.

As a child, Fiona and she were abandoned in the same orphanage. She swore that one day she would leave the damned place.

Fiona was always cheering for her when Lucrezia said so.

-I can’t help it, I’ll take you with me, too.

Lucrezia said so.

‘But you betrayed me!’

Fiona has always been so stupid that she always lost her share of things. It was Lucrezia’s role to bring it back.

Then Fiona always said, ‘It’s okay not to do this.’. She didn’t like it

What’s wrong with you? Why do you keep losing what is yours?

Why don’t you take care of yourself??

‘Then give it all to me.’

If you don’t need it, it’s going to be thrown away anyway.

Why don’t you give it all to me?

I was determined to take everything from her, whatever Fiona had. I wondered to what extent I could take things away until her normal face cracked up.

‘She cried. Uglily, with a face contorted, in pain and despair.’

Lucrezia was the only one who knows that face of Fiona. It gave her a strange feeling of satisfaction.

The Highpriest also acknowledged this feeling and it was then that she knew it.

I thought of Fiona as special to me, but to her, I was no different from a lot of people. So I could tell right away by looking at Jean’s gaze, that he valued Viscountess Dell.

‘I thought he would come over.’

Far from coming over, I was offended at being refuted. I wanted to dismiss it as an excuse of a coward, but that’s not the case either.

He’s not making any cowardly excuses. It is not that he has no power to take it into his hands. In another way she doesn’t know, he was cherishing something precious…

‘In a way, I don’t know?’

Lucrezia bit her thumbnail, then lowered her hand with a fast movement. She thought she had given up on this kind of habit a long time ago.

She held her hands together, clasped them tightly, and lifted her head with an elegant smile. As she glided back and forth among the people, everyone seemed to bow their heads to say hello.

“Saint, would you like to come to our manor as well? I want you to meet my my wife.”

At their polite words, Lucrezia smiled brightly and looked at the opponent.

“Okay, Duke Brevan. I’d be happy to do so.”

“Thank you.”

As the Duke greeted her, Lucrezia felt a thrill rising up her spine.

Look!

Even the Duke bows his head!

Look at this gorgeous ballroom.

The Emperor greets me too.

People were eager to receive the blessings of a saint, and the nobles bowed their heads.

‘That idiot would have been taken advantage of.’

Thinking of Fiona, Lucrezia smiled broadly.

“Saint, it is time to go back.”

The Templar’s leader whispered from behind and Lucrezia looked at her spoil. The dark eyes he had suited him to a tee.

“Then we must go back, Brother Edgar.”

Lucrezia threw her bewitching smile at him and Edgar bowed his head silently.
