Chapter 45: Qiao Dai was reported (1)

Lang Xing. At a glance, one could tell it was a pseudonym and it had been chosen because he was a wolf originally. And today, he had been accidentally picked up and taken away by Qiao Dai, which was rather unpleasant.

Thinking about this ridiculous situation, Lang Xing wanted to drag out the reporter who was squatting in front of his house and beat him with his camera. Had it not been for this guy stalking him 24/7 and temporarily being unable to shift back to his human form, he would have snuck back into his home and hid from the world. He would not have ended up wandering in the bad weather, cold and hungry, looking like a stray husky and facing the risk of being caught at any time.

Being picked up by Qiao Dai might have not been fantastic but Lang Xing had felt that he should take the risk. As long as he could get away from the heavy rain, he should be able to control his shifting once more after a few days.

Although he hated obnoxious little girls the most, especially the ones who tried to rub his belly and triggered his anxiety, he was not willing to die this stupidly. As a proud wolf, Lang Xing never allowed anyone to touch his belly; alphas never showed their vulnerable parts unless they lost.

Cheng Su didn’t send Qiao Dai back to the players’ dormitory directly but parked the car nearby instead to avoid senseless gossip. He didn’t care about those but Qiao Dai was just a trainee and a newcomer in the circle; her rise in popularity was wrong but she could not afford any scandal.

Qiao Dai did not realize what was happening, but Lang Xing, who had been in the entertainment industry for a while now, could not have been more sensitive to this matter; whether male or female, love and dating were absolutely forbidden for idols.

Lang Xing stared at Cheng Su for a while, until Qiao Dai called him. He would have never thought someone with eyes as fierce as their boss would like such delicate girls.

What an unexpected combination. Was it something normal when it came to humans? Weak. Unlike Cheng Su, wolves like him were destined to pursue only the strong.

And then it was a little smug that Lang Xing followed Qiao Dai. Watching the girl’s back and the dog on her trail, Cheng Su’s complexion suddenly became sullen and he frowned rather uncomfortably.

Why did it feel like this dog was looking down at him?

“Pupsky, let’s get cleaned up first, okay?”

The rain was gradually decreasing and Qiao Dai took out the umbrella once more. She walked all the way to the dormitory with the dog and as soon as she went inside, she hurried to her room discreetly so as to not disturb the other girls.

She dragged a desperately struggling Lang Xing to the bathroom, who had really not expected such a weak-looking girl would have such great strength.

“Wooooh~”

Despite many objections, Lang Xing was cleaned and wrapped in a soft towel before being carried back to the bedroom. He felt humiliated and fell to the ground while Qiao Dai rubbed his belly trying to get him dry.

“Pupsky, don’t make trouble. You will catch a cold if you don’t get dry.”

Pupsky…

Had he had any eyebrows, Lang Xing would have raised them. First of all, he wasn’t a husky, nor a puppy. Secondly, even if he was, the nickname Pupsky was simply too ugly. Was it really the only name a trainee could come up with?

This was depressing.

But what was even more shocking was that Qiao Dai was manhandling him and rubbing his belly! And yet, while his wolf behavior rose to the surface, as he looked at the beautiful girl with bright round eyes and soft fingers, he actually had an urge to wag his tail.

Such humiliation! Lang Xing saw his subconsciously swaying tail from the glass door and pressed his paw on it.

After giving a bath to the wolf, Qiao Dai went to the kitchen to find some meat for him to eat. As soon as she left, Lang Xing started sneaking around the room but except for the strange children’s pool in the middle of it, it looked rather ordinary.

When Qiao Dai came back with the food, Lang Xing who was now lying lazily on the floor, walked over and sniffed the meat before eating.

As he did, the girl sat on the floor not far from him and hugged her knees. She started talking to herself a little distressed: “What should I do? I haven’t found anyone today, can I find someone tomorrow?”

Lang Xing continued to eat with his head lowered and Qiao Dai sighed and looked at him.

“If I don’t find anyone for the next public performance soon, we won’t have time to rehearse.”

Lang Xing ignored her.

“Pupsky, what do you think I should do?”

But as he was done eating and was finally ready to listen to her, Qiao Dai stood up and went to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for bed.

It was still raining outside and Lang Xing was lying in front of the glass door, watching the scenery. He was feeling a little sleepy when he heard a falling sound from the bathroom.

Qiao Dai cried out in surprise and the wolf stood up and rushed to the other room. But as soon as he reached the door, he saw a small furry head emerge from the bathtub.

For a while, a wolf and a sea otter looked at each other in silence.

Wait.

Sea otter?

This was the first time he had ever met another shifter in the city after he had left the forest with the other wolves and an unfamiliar intimacy suddenly spread in his heart.

Although he had met Qiao Dai only today, he felt that the two of them were very similar; they were both idols and neither of them was really human. They never really belonged to this world and their secrets couldn’t be told to anyone, even their closest friends. No matter what they did, there would always be an invisible wall between them and ordinary people.

Discovering that Qiao Dai was actually a sea otter, Lang Xing felt full of excitement. Perhaps they could become good friends if they shared the same secret.

Chapter 45: Qiao Dai was reported (2)

The next day, early in the morning, Qiao Dai was about to head to the classroom to discuss with her teammates about the second public performance when a staff member came to look for her and stopped her when she turned around a corner.

Making sure no one was around, the woman approached her and asked in a low voice: “Qiao Dai, are you keeping a pet in the dormitory?”

Qiao Dai had come back last night and there had been no one in the dormitory at that time. She was sure no one had seen her and after hearing this question, she couldn’t help but be a little surprised. The woman could clearly see the answer was positive on her face and hurriedly said:

“Qiao Dai, you are not in trouble. Nothing was said about pets in the rules and we are aware some of the contestants brought their hamsters or turtles with them. But you have a large dog with you and we have received notice from some players. We are afraid this would affect them,  you need to find a way to bring your pet back so there won’t be any issue with the other girls.”

Qiao Dai had not planned to raise the dog herself but had also not expected the husky would be discovered so quickly. But while she wasn’t happy about it, dormitories had multiple people living in them and she couldn’t just do as she wanted. And now that someone had already reported her to the program team, she could only nod her head and entrust the direction to help with Pupsky, to either find his family or a new one that would adopt him.

She led the staff to her room. Pupsky seemed to understand humans and when he saw the staff come over, he didn’t bark or make any noise. He looked at Qiao Dai one last time and obediently followed the others. Qiao Dai watched all of them boast about his beautiful fur and his behavior as they put him in the car and Qiao Dai could only sigh and head once more to the classroom.

She thought this incident would come to an end but it didn’t take long for the staff to come to look for Qiao Dai once again. They admitted the dog had disappeared as soon as they hadn’t paid attention, and while Qiao Dai worried a little bit about him, she couldn’t do anything else and hoped the husky would find a kind family to look after him soon.

Right now, most teams had already found strong guests for the upcoming performance and her team was in a hurry. She couldn’t put her mind on the missing dog any longer; her team depended on her and she couldn’t let down all of her friends.

However, as each team was practicing hard on their own, some players unexpectedly started to hear about someone reporting Qiao Dai to the program group. Although they heard about the husky she had brought back to the dormitory, the fact that someone had reported her was far more important than the actual issue; thinking that someone had actually complained about her for such a trivial matter, the other girls couldn’t help but be scared too.

Why couldn’t they have discussed it with Qiao Dai first? Why did they have to directly snitch to the program group? Today it was about a pet, what would be the reason tomorrow? Could they be the next ones?

Everybody could see everybody’s moves in the show; they shared dormitories, common spaces, practice rooms and spent all their time together. Any girl could make any mistake inadvertently at any moment and knowing someone around them was willing to stab them in the back without a second thought made them panic. It felt as if a silent ghost was lurking among them, ready to take them out at any second, monitoring their every movement and trying to find their weaknesses to give them a fatal blow.

And so as soon as everybody heard about this matter, the atmosphere between the girls became tense and strained. Who was the traitor among them?

When Qiao Dai walked to her practice room the next day, she saw her teammates standing in a stalemate with ugly expressions. She was about to ask what had happened when she heard one of the girls ask in a very serious and accusing tone: “Are you the one who reported Qiao Dai?”

As the words fell, Qiao Dai noticed that although everyone was standing and looking at each other, only one person was isolated by the rest of the group and the sole subject of suspicious gazes. She could clearly see the dividing line between them and her gaze fell on someone she could not be more familiar with; her friend Shi Qing was standing in front of everyone with red eyes and a pale face.
