Chapter 48: Jealousy?

After Lin Lang’s repeated frame-ups were exposed, the program team and COCO Entertainment quickly responded and terminated the contract. At the same time, Lin Lang was forced to withdraw from and had to see all of her fans turn their backs on her. She had fallen from her fairy image to a vicious one.

But this matter did not last too long. As soon as Lin Lang left the program, netizens turned all their attention to the official preview of the next public performance. The players were looking for guests to sing with them and the production released a few videos of the different teams’ training, including silhouettes of some of the guests. Soon enough, the comment area was full of various speculations.

The biggest question was the guest Qiao Dai’s team had invited. In the video, not only the players but also Jiang Fengchi had been unexpectedly surprised. They had all voiced their shock and while their name had not been shared, the audience’s curiosity had raised to its peak, heating the program’s Weibo at once.

But fans and netizens were not the only ones actively speculating. In a bar, among roaring electronic music, a group of young people was gathered. One of them suddenly opened his mouth and asked: “Cheng Su, aren’t you close to Shengshi? Tell me, which guest our Daidai found?”

The young man was drunk and had recently started chasing stars. Excitement could be heard in his voice and his friends quickly joked: “So that’s why you haven’t gone out to play with us recently! It turns out you have been chasing after a little girl! What is it, with the two of you, does it mean we are going to start chasing stars now?”

Hearing this, the man who had spoken first suddenly sobered up. He pulled his friend’s arm, his voice even louder than before: “What are you talking about? Who else is chasing stars? Which star?”

“Isn’t Kun’er a fan of Qiao Dai? She’s the Daidai you’re talking about, isn’t she?”

The drunk man cursed and quickly said: “Damn, I’m going to blacklist him!”

Cheng Su sighed looking at this idiot. He took the phone from Gu Yan’s hand and glanced at the screen which was a picture of Qiao Dai’s autograph. This kid had actually taken a photo of it and used it as a screensaver?

Seeing Cheng Su’s movement freeze mid-way, Gu Yan forgot what he was doing and exclaimed happily: “Daidai wrote it specially for me! This is very precious!”

Cheng Su looked at him and couldn’t help but feel sympathetic when he thought that if Qiao Dai’s male fans were all like that. He put Gu Yan’s phone on the farthest end of the table and said: “The show is on Friday night, you can wait a little longer. Why bother me about it?”

Yet he was a little curious as to whether Qiao Dai had found a guest and his finger started tapping unconsciously.

Cheng Su was just talking casually but Gu Yan smiled broadly like he had discovered some great secret.

“What? How do you know when will be broadcast? Don’t you not care about the entertainment circle?”

As soon as he asked that, the rest of the group realized what Cheng Su had said: yes, when had he become interested in a women’s team talent show? It wasn’t that surprising that Gu Yan was, but they would have never guessed Cheng Su would be! He would rather watch documentaries than , unless…

“Cheng Su, are you…”

Cheng Su was a smart person and he could guess what these guys were thinking. He immediately sat up straight and interrupted without hesitation: “No.”

Really?

The men looked at each other, not believing him in their hearts. They were not married but they all had dated. Unlike them, Cheng Su never seemed to show any interest in love or women and they were all anxiously waiting for a Mrs. Cheng.

Cheng Su’s parents had passed away early and as the only grandson of the Cheng group, he was greatly cherished. Everybody hoped he would get married soon and have another person to take care of him. But Cheng Su seemed to be everything but fond of marriage and had rejected all the arrangements his family had tried to make these last few years.

But Cheng Su’s mother had been just like him in her youth. When Grandpa Cheng had stopped hoping to hold a grandson in his life, Miss Cheng had brought a man home after a vacation. The two had met during their respective travels and had fallen in love at first sight, and this man had become Cheng Su’s father.

Therefore, Grandpa Cheng kind of expected Cheng Su to be just like his mother. One day, he would bring a granddaughter-in-law home and make his elders very happy.

But was it possible that the Mrs. Cheng was finally coming?

Realizing that the discussion was developing in an inexplicable direction, Cheng Su quickly put an end to this topic. Gu Yan proposed to go to another place and everyone got up to leave.

The area they were at was very famous for its bars. The streets were full of them, of all kinds and sizes, and it was very popular for young people. Many people liked to go bar hopping and have a couple of drinks at each.

The scene was very noisy and amidst the crowd, Cheng Su noticed a familiar figure from the corner of his eyes and instinctively stopped. Gu Yan didn’t notice right away and ran into his back. He held his painful nose and asked: “Why are you stopping?”

“I saw an acquaintance.”

Gu Yan was always noisy and was seriously curious this time; he wanted to know what other acquaintances Cheng Su had. But as soon as he poked his head out, he was pushed back by his friend.

“Go first.”

Cheng Su unceremoniously blocked Gu Yan’s sight and before the younger man could say anything, he was pushed out mercilessly. The others had long started to think he had already drunk too much and hurriedly dragged him out, lest he continued to make trouble.

When Cheng Su turned around, he saw another figure appear beside the petite girl. This person was not a stranger but someone he knew—

Lang Xing.

Not far away from him, Qiao Dai and Lang Xing stood face to face, deep in conversation. Upon seeing this, Cheng Su frowned slightly.
