Chapter 60: Can I grow kelp for you? (2-in1)

Hearing Cheng Su’s answer, Qiao Dai looked a little worried for a second. She raised her head slightly to look at the man standing in front of her and said: “I heard this island was private. Won’t you get in trouble?”

The staff member who was standing on the shore held his breath.

Employee: It can’t be.

He felt a little panicked and really wanted to tell Qiao Dai that the uninvited guest in front of her was actually the owner of the island. However, his employee seemed to want to conceal his identity and answered without the slightest change of expression: “He is not that cheap.”

Yes, definitely. The island had been lent to Qiao Dai just for her birthday, the staff member really couldn’t find any connection between the word “cheap” and President Cheng.

It was just that he couldn’t understand why he would not tell the truth to Miss Qiao? Wouldn’t it make her even happier?

Cheng Su had many private islands all over the world but he did not go to any of them very often. This way, in the eyes of the employee, Cheng Su had always been a rather irritable employer. Yet, everybody couldn’t help but respect and almost worship him at the same time but today’s situation that was happening just in front of him was obviously beyond his imagination.

It seemed that President Cheng wasn’t so unkind after all.

But even though he was very curious, the staff member upheld his professionalism and conscientiously kept Cheng Su’s privacy. He smiled at Qiao Dai to dispel her worries and said: “It doesn’t matter since this gentleman is Miss Qiao’s friend, he is also welcome. I wish you a happy time.”

Cheng Su’s eyebrows raised slightly and he glanced at his employee before looking at Qiao Dai again.

“Shall we go now?”

Qiao Dai was relieved and she grabbed the rail under Cheng Su’s urging. Accompanied by the roar of the motor, the yacht left quickly in a big wave. Bubbles appeared around them; the white disturbances on the blue water and the sea breeze instantly made Qiao Dai feel very happy.

Cheng Su drove the yacht into the sea, at a far away distance from the island. Only a vague shape could be seen from where they were and the bright sun in the blue sky outlined the island just like a postcard.

Qiao Dai’s eyes brightened and she sat on the deck, letting the wind blow her hair. The sun made her a little lazy and she felt her body go soft. She wanted to lie down on the side and watch the little fishes leap out of the water and the seagulls hovering on the surface.

As soon as Cheng Su came out, he noticed Qiao Dai’s position and walked over to sit beside her.

“What are looking at?”

Following Qiao Dai’s line of sight, only the sparkling water was visible. Cheng Su couldn’t help but frown and wonder what was so great about it.

Perhaps because she was too comfortable, Qiao Dai’s voice was soft and she answered: “Nothing, just sleepy dazing.”

Sleepy dazing.

It was the first time Cheng Su had heard anyone use those words together but when he saw Qiao Dai’s relaxed expression, he only felt his heart soften. It turned out that there was someone so easy to please, because that someone was so simple.

For sure, a little sea otter was the most comfortable basking in the sun in the safe ocean.

Qiao Dai and Cheng Su sat on the edge of the boat together. The tall Cheng Su sat beside Qiao Dai and every time he lowered his head, he could see the girl’s beautiful back. Qiao Dai was lying sideways, her slender waist was exposed to the warm sun, and her fair skin was tinted with a hint of honey.

Cheng Su silently shifted his gaze and whispered: “I thought you would want to sleep in the water.”

So close to Qiao Dai, from another perspective, it looked like Cheng Su was hugging her. The boat moved slightly over the waves and when a bigger one hit, Qiao Dai lost her balance and fell into Cheng Su’s arm.

Qiao Dai wanted to sit up straight in a panic and she quickly turned around. She wanted to keep looking casually at the sea’s scenery but the wind and waves seemed to be much bigger than before. The boat started to shake more violently and the petite figure of Qiao Dai started dangling with it.

“You are too light.”

Cheng Su’s voice came from behind her and before she could react, his left hand grabbed her right shoulder and his strong arm embraced her. In an instant, she was tightly locked between his limbs and chest. Qiao Dai couldn’t see Cheng Su’s face but she could feel his warm breath on her neck and she shrank.

As soon as he lowered his head, Cheng Su noticed Qiao Dai’s red ears and realized what he had just done. His eyes flashed but he didn’t immediately let go of her, and a subtle feeling rose in his heart, making him feel that this was how things were supposed to be.

The two of them enjoyed the view and Qiao Dai said with emotion: “If only there was a kelp forest around here, it would be warm and safe and I could move there.”

Hearing her, Cheng Su’s eyebrows instinctively rose and he asked: “There are so many beautiful coral reefs nearby, why would anyone add kelp?”

The kelp forest was what sea otters relied on to live; there would always be shellfish and crabs there and those were all essential for her kind’s survival.

It was just that this was a private island. Which owner would run to plant a kelp forest when there were so many more beautiful things around?

Qiao Dai knew her idea was stupid and she felt a little embarrassed. She would never ask her fan to grow kelp for her!

Seeing she stopped talking, Cheng Su felt a little flustered and suddenly didn’t know what to say. He looked at the water and was silent for a moment before suddenly remembering that Qiao Dai had said she was going to travel to the Pacific Ocean. This made him a little irritated; if Qiao Dai was so unhappy she would run back to the Pacific, how would he keep seeing her?

“You said you wanted to go back to the Pacific Ocean, what about now?”

He had to find out her thoughts first. Among a group of chubby little sea otters sleeping on the water, would he be able to recognize Qiao Dai?

Qiao Dai didn’t answer immediately; she looked a little distressed and Cheng Su couldn’t guess what she was thinking.

But as she was about to speak, Cheng Su’s slightly hesitant voice sounded: “Would you consider moving here?”

Qiao Dai: …?

Cheng Su: …

Qiao Dai turned around and looked at Cheng Su with some doubts. The man’s eyes were a little erratic and he lifted his chin to look over Qiao Dai’s head at the sea behind her. His lips tightened and after a long time, he added: “If there was a kelp forest here.”

Cheng Su felt he was going crazy. That could be the only explanation, how would he say such unbelievable things otherwise? He also had a faint hunch that if Qiao Dai’s answer was positive, he would really let people grow kelp on his island.

Really, he was going crazy.

Qiao Dai’s eyes widened and she stared at Cheng Su. Her bright eyes were filled with surprise while Cheng Su’s expression was indifferent.

The bright sun enveloped him and his expression was very serious like he was anxiously waiting for her answer.

“Of course it does.”

Cheng Su held his breath and after a while, he whispered in Qiao Dai’s ear: “Me too.”

TL note: I apologize, I really thought I would manage to post this chapter this weekend but obviously I can’t because that’s twice in a row. I need to stop procrastinating but it also means there will be one more chapter this week!

TL second note: Sooooooo does that mean that she had not invited Cheng Su to begin with? To her birthday? What the heck! That makes no sense! Then again, most of it makes no sense ahah.
