Chapter 63: You like me more than I thought (1)

This was a love story full of betrayal, lies, and destruction.

A lying lover, a well-planned deception, lovers caught in a twisted romance as the puppet-master hid behind the scenes and manipulated the direction of the story, leading the one who had betrayed her towards his abyssal end.

If Cheng Su was the character of this story, how would she kill him?

His deep voice had inexplicable magic and made Qiao Dai start thinking wildly.

In a trance, the world around her switched to the scene from her song. The sky instantly dimmed and a beam of strong light suddenly hit the center of the stage as the play began.

Golden candles faintly illuminated the room and the soft carpet was covered in candies and all kinds of dolls randomly scattered on the red velvet.

A girl sat quietly on a western chair, her eyes closed and leaning gently on the back of the chair, motionless.

Suddenly, her thick eyelashes trembled and the girl opened her eyes.

As she awakened, the dolls on the ground also regained life. She raised her hand gently and the dolls stood up obediently, their angles and their appearances were eerie yet beautiful.

From a closer look, one could see thin threads of silk controlling the dolls’ every move and the direction of the story. People were her marionettes, all puppets of her manipulation and she guided her lover into an elaborate deception.

This play was carefully constructed. She hid in the darkness of the stage and quietly watched the absurd performance. Her hands were full of silk threads and every actor in front of her were hers to play with, even her beloved man.

If it was Cheng Su, how would Qiao Dai kill him?

A handsome man sat quietly in the other chair and Cheng Su’s stern face gradually overlapped with his. Qiao Dai watched Cheng Su eventually fall into the trap his lover had created, swallowing poison as sweet as honey and becoming her perfect toy.

She had “killed” him.

From now on, she was his only wife.

The girl shyly grabbed the man’s arm. Her other hand reached out to hold Cheng Su’s face and she gave him a deep kiss on the corner of his lips. Her actions were crazy and desperate but Qiao Dai didn’t doubt for a second that this was a kiss between lovers.

He was hers.

The image froze on this scene. The darkness was so thick it could not be dissolved and slowly enveloped everything else. In this terrifying space, the girl sat happily on the man’s lap, her head on his chest and a creepy smile on her face.

When Cheng Su’s face had overlapped with the protagonist’s, Qiao Dai had suddenly understood how morbid this song was.

All he needed was her.

All she needed was him.

This was how it went from a sweet love story to insanity.

It wasn’t until Cheng Su’s applause sounded that Qiao Dai broke out of her trance and was pulled away from the story. As soon as she looked up, she saw Cheng Su sitting where he had just been and clapping his hand with an appreciative expression on his face.

Qiao Dai looked around. The stage, the dolls, and the velvet carpet had all disappeared. Everything just now had been her interpretation of the story, the picture she had created in her mind.

As Cheng Su kept clapping, Qiao Dai suddenly rushed towards him. Cheng Su instinctively walked to her and strode across the seats, both of their speed always increasing. Cheng Su jumped the last row, took another step forward, and instinctively embraced Qiao Dai.

“What’s wrong?”

Cheng Su was stunned by the situation and his heart was beating wildly. He could feel Qiao Dai’s soft body trembling gently and the blood in his body seemed to boil. His heart seemed to tear at his flesh and his hands tightened around Qiao Dai.

“I won’t kill you.”

Qiao Dai wouldn’t be able to kill his spirit in the end, if Cheng Su was the male lead. Killing Cheng Su would be killing part of herself.

When the song had ended and the world had gone back to normal, Qiao Dai had felt a huge sense of relief when she had seen Cheng Su.

Cheng Su was alive. He was not a numb puppet. And she realized she wanted to stay by his side.

Cheng Su hugged Qiao Dai quietly until the girl finished pulling away from the atmosphere the song had created. He slowly loosened his embrace and said: “It seems that you like me more than I thought.”

He looked at Qiao Dai and realized she wasn’t reacting yet. He patted her on the shoulder and whispered: “People are coming, let’s go.”

“Cheng Su.”

Just as Cheng Su was turning around to get ready to leave the theater, Qiao Dai’s soft voice sounded behind him. He turned his head and saw her watch him intently. Her bright eyes seemed to shine and she looked at Cheng Su with some uncertainty in her gaze.

After a little while, she asked in a low voice: “What about you? Do you like me more than I thought?”

Qiao Dai was looking straight at Cheng Su but her voice trembled a little. They didn’t break eye contact and their footsteps paused.

“I do. I like you more than you think.”

His words reached her ears. Cheng Su didn’t know where he stood in Qiao Dai’s heart but he was certain of his feelings for her.

He liked her more than she thought. He liked her more than she could imagine.

Hearing his answer, Qiao Dai breathed a sigh of relief and smiled softly. Her eyes sparkled and she said earnestly: “I also like you more than you think.”

She walked briskly to his side and raised her chin to the man: “Let’s go.”

Cheng Su narrowed his eyes but said nothing and honestly followed Qiao Dai back to the car.
