Xia Zhijun’s room was larger than she had expected. It was divided into two areas, rest and entertainment. The bookshelf next to the computer desk was filled with books, as well as various trinkets, manuals, and models.
Gu Siyi glanced at them roughly. The books covered a wide range of topics, ranging from astronomy to geography, as well as various historical collections. She once again felt the chasm-like gap between her and the study god.
Gu Siyi turned around and saw Xia Zhijun typing something in front of the computer, the screen was full of rapidly pulsing characters.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
Xia Zhijun: “Programming.”
She asked again: “What does a programmer do?”
Xia Zhijun: “Make money.”
Gu Siyi: “Uh… Awesome.”
Xia Zhijun passed her an iPad. “I will be busy for a while, you play games or watch videos by yourself.”
“Okay.” Gu Siyi happily took it. “Are there any headsets? I don’t want to bother you.”
Xia Zhijun gave her a headset. Gu Siyi leaned on the sofa and sat on the carpet, put on a headset, and opened up some anime on the iPad.
Xia Zhijun devoted himself to the code, moving his fingers on the keyboard as if they were flying. He did the rest in one go, and after the test was successful, he sent it to his partner.
He sighed, after pulling away from the procedure, he turned to look at Gu Siyi. The girl leaned back on the sofa lazily, watching something with relish, sometimes shaking with laughter, and trying to cover her mouth with her hand to prevent herself from making a sound.
Xia Zhijun got up, walked to her, and sat down.
Gu Siyi took off the headset clumsily after noticing him. “Are you finished?”
“Yeah.” He nodded and scanned the screen. She was watching ‘Slam Dunk’. “Have you not seen it?”
“I’ve seen it, I got into basketball because of this anime. This is so interesting, it’s worth a second watch.”
“Well, let’s watch it together.”
“Sure.” Gu Siyi moved the iPad a bit so Xia Zhijun could also see it.
She folded her legs and put the iPad on her knees. Whenever she accidentally moved the device, the two inadvertently moved closer to each other.
Xia Zhijun put one hand on her leg and one hand on the sofa behind her. He was taller than her when standing and taller than her when sitting. He could not only look at the screen but also look down at her face.
He could see her curled eyelashes, her pretty nose, and her cherry-like red lips. Gu Siyi stayed focused on the anime gleefully, not noticing his glance. He then switched to the characters on the screen and thought that they were nowhere near as good-looking as her.
She had no obvious flaws in her looks. The more he noticed the better she looked. He raised his hand on the sofa behind her and gently pinched her earlobe.
“Huh? What are you doing?” Gu Siyi tilted her head to one side.
Xia Zhijun looked at her and smiled. “Gu Siyi, I think you look pretty.”
“…” While Xia Zhijun’s deep black eyes were focused on watching her reaction. Gu Siyi blushed uncontrollably.
She felt her flushed face and became even more embarrassed, she quickly turned her back to him and fumbled for something to say. “I-I’m pretty good-looking, I know.”
She has had at least one truckload of uncles, aunts, classmates, and friends since she was young that said was good looking. But when other people said it, she just laughed it off and didn’t take it seriously. So why was it that when he said it, she felt uneasy?
It must have been because his personality made the compliment too out of place. It wasn’t usual of him to say such a sentence abruptly.
As Xia Zhijun looked at the girl’s back, the smile on his face grew wider. The unhappiness and the past incidents that have been pressed in his heart before have almost disappeared like a cloud of smoke.
Gu Siyi heard the housemaid calling from downstairs. She immediately got up and ran towards the dining room, escaping the atmosphere of inexplicable embarrassment. Xia Zhijun got up lazily and followed her without any hurry, his expression was usual.
