Instinctively, Bai Qi took a step back to look at the door.
No matter how many times he blinked, the number stayed the same.
This was his apartment. But, what was Zhang Li Xue doing here?
Before Bai Qi could figure out what was going on, his sister called his name.
“Brother Bai Qi!” Bai Xi Xi called his name joyously. “You’re back!”
Bai Qi spared a glance at his sister before he turned to Zhang Li Xue again.
The little girl quickly noticed that her brother was not paying attention to her. She followed his gaze and finally saw what her brother was looking at.
“Brother Bai Qi, I called Pretty Sister to come here,” Bai Xi Xi explained. There was a trace of guilt on her face when her brother turned to look at her. She shifted her weight between her feet and spoke, “I wouldn’t call her if it was an emergency.”
Bai Qi frowned. It was then that he recalled seeing his sister’s missed calls after he came out of the operation theatre. After speaking to his mentor, Bai Qi decided to head home as fast as he could to find his sister.

What he did not expect was for him to find Zhang Li Xue in his apartment.
His eyes shifted to his sister again.
What emergency?
As the thought come to his mind, Bai Qi could not help but to worry about his sister. He gave her a look over and finally breathed in relief upon seeing that she was without injury.
“You see,” Bai Xi Xi spoke again. “The sink in the bathroom broke and the water continued to pour everywhere. I tried to call you, but you did not answer. I did not know what I should do. Then, I called Pretty Sister to help me.”
Bai Xi Xi still remembered that her brother had warned her not to invite just anyone to their apartment.
The situation was indeed an emergency and Pretty Sister isn’t just anyone. She was a friend of her brother. Therefore, Bai Xi Xi thought that her brother wouldn’t mind it when she called the Pretty Sister for help. But... looking at her brother’s expression now, Bai Xi Xi wondered if she had made the right decision.
Could it be that she had misread her brother’s opinion towards the Pretty Sister?
Bai Qi was worried when he heard what had happened. “How are you now?” From where he stood, Bai Qi looked at the bathroom. A breath of relief escaped him once he saw that the situation in the bathroom was not as bad as he had thought.
“Fortunately, Pretty Sister helped to turn off the water and cleaned up the mess.” Bai Xi Xi hoped that with her words, her brother would not be furious.
His gaze turned to Zhang Li Xue again. His gaze turned a bit complicated as he looked at the girl.
Zhang Li Xue naturally noticed the look in his eyes before it disappeared. She lowered her gaze and frowned.
Although she came to help his sister, perhaps, the young doctor was uncomfortable to find her in his apartment unannounced.
“Miss Zhang, thank you.” Bai Qi flashed a smile.
Zhang Li Xue gathered her thoughts as she looked at the man again. “Doctor Bai, please don’t be angry at your sister,” she spoke. “She was scared and did not know what she should do. If she didn’t call for help, you might not be able to sleep in your apartment tonight.”
“I wasn’t angry.” Bai Qi heaved a sigh. He shut the door behind him and tossed his keys on the rack beside the table. “I was just worried. And surprised... I didn’t think that Xi Xi would call you. But, you are right. Fortunately, Xi Xi called for your help.”

Zhang Li Xue flashed him a smile. “Then, let me talk to you for a bit.”
Bai Qi was still wondering just what would the girl wanted to talk to him about. He watched as she stood up and walked over to the bathroom.
“I’ve switched off the main source,” Zhang Li Xue pointed at the valve. “I don’t know much about the sink. But I think you will need to call someone to fix it.”
Bai Qi looked at the sink and noticed that the tap was broken.
He only knew how to use scalpels. He did not know how to fix a broken sink. Zhang Li Xue was right. He needed to talk to the landlord about this broken sink.
“Alright, since you’re already home, perhaps I should leave,” Zhang Li Xue said. She recalled the siblings’ conversation and thought that perhaps, Bai Qi did not like having her around.
She only stayed around because she was worried about Xi Xi. If Bai Qi did not like having her around, then, she did not have a reason to stay.
Anyway, her relationship with Doctor Bai was nothing more than friends.
“Doctor Bai, then, I will see you again.” Zhang Li Xue grabbed her purse and her jacket, intending to leave. However, before she could walk to the door, Bai Qi had spoken again.
“Miss Zhang, wait.”
Zhang Li Xue turned around and saw Bai Qi looking at her.
“You already helped me and my sister,” Bai Qi said. Why don’t you stay and have a little something to eat before you leave?”
Bai Qi was quick to notice that there was something wrong with Zhang Li Xue’s gaze. When he recalled his lukewarm reception, Bai Qi began to worry that the little fairy would misunderstand him.
“Doctor Bai, I wasn’t expecting any sorts of rewards when I decided to come over and help.”
“I know.” His little fairy was one of the kindest people he met. He knew that she would not have such intention. Moreover, what can she expect to get from him, the person who has nothing?
“But I don’t feel right to let you leave just like this,” Bai Qi said. “Miss Zhang, please stay.”
Zhang Li Xue forced a smile. “Are you going to treat me to a meal?”
Bai Qi pursed his lips. “If you don’t mind, I will cook something for you. Although they might not look that good, I can assure you that the taste would be good.”
Bai Xi Xi’s eyes lit up. She held Zhang Li Xue’s hand and spoke, “Pretty Sister. Just stay for a while. Eat something. Then, you can leave. Brother Bai Qi’s cooking is really good.”
Zhang Li Xue shifted her gaze between the two siblings. They were both staring at her expectantly. However, it was Bai Xi Xi’s pleading look that melted her heart. “Alright.”
