Chapter 189: Preparation Complete

Leave a Comment / Reincarnation into a barrier master / By IX

On the second day of the public questioning session, it started with a completely different atmosphere of tension compared to the previous day.

As soon as the Pope arrived and took his seat, Linos handed him a bundle of papers. The Pope looked puzzled as he glanced through the documents.

“These are the minutes from yesterday’s discussions.”

“What is this? Evidence?”

“Yesterday, all the discussions between the Crimeana Church and us were recorded here. Well, it’s been a while since I did this, so please forgive any typos or mistakes. And also… apologize for my messy handwriting.”

“King Agarta… What is the meaning of this?”

“Oh, don’t worry. It’s for good intentions. I’ll give it to you.”

Linos blushed and waved his hands.

“King Agarta!”

Assistant Director Darina called out in a stern tone.

“What on earth do you intend to do?”

“What do you mean? Isn’t it necessary?”

“Why would it be?”

“Because we discussed quite important matters yesterday, like the procedures for the experiments. If the steps are wrong, we could get weird results, right? So, I decided to put it in writing. See? This way, we won’t get into pointless debates about what was said and what wasn’t. It’s better to have a mutual understanding of what was discussed.”

“But even without doing that, I remember everything discussed in yesterday’s meeting!”

“Well, you might, but I’m not that smart. I don’t remember everything from yesterday’s meeting. So, what then?”

“This is truly amazing. King Agarta, thank you very much. I’m grateful.”

Interjected Director Imani. He carefully looked through the minutes and nodded frequently.

“I see. You’ve managed to recreate our conversation to this extent. Yes, I had forgotten about this part as well… I should have explained it a bit more thoroughly. The same goes for you, Darina. I can’t quite agree with this statement. Look here; we should explain it in more detail…”

“Di… Director…”

Darina’s face stiffened as she looked at Imani. Imani, with his ever-intelligent gaze and gentle demeanor, offered a warm look to Darina. Unable to resist that gaze, Darina reluctantly took her seat. Sitting quietly beside her was Clarina.

Clarina had an appealing face with her jet-black, curly eyes and a sense of elegance that befit a talented woman in the sciences. Her aura transmitted to Linos and the others, even from a distance.

“Well, please review the minutes from yesterday, and if there are any additional points or corrections, let’s discuss them. We will create a revised version of the minutes. Clarina, please take a look as well.”

Linos nodded politely to Clarina. In response, Clarina also smiled and nodded slightly. Then, Linos turned his gaze alternately between the Pope and Imani before speaking up again.

“There are three more parts to the minutes. One will be for Crimeana, and the other part… would the Sandardi Kingdom like to receive it, which will conduct the reenactment experiments?”

Imani returned the smile. Linos turned away from them and raised his voice.

“Is there a delegation from the Sandardi Kingdom present? Please take yesterday’s minutes.”

A tanned man stood up from the audience and walked confidently to the stage.

“Here are the minutes from yesterday. Please take them.”

The man received the documents in silence, flipping through the pages and starting to read the minutes. As he read, a smirk and wry smile appeared on his face.

“My remarks are also written here. This is impressive. It’s very detailed and easy to understand. With this, there should be no discrepancies in the points or the way the experiments are conducted. I am Nic from the Sandardi Kingdom. It seems there are no corrections needed. King Agarta, I thank you for your efforts.”

“No, you’re welcome.”

“King Agarta, let’s receive the final booklet!”

Next to Linos, a delegate from the Kingdom of Yomuan approached boldly.

“Your Holiness the Pope! Good morning! We humbly present ourselves to admire your beautiful countenance today!”

The man gave a formal greeting and immediately saluted the Pope. The Pope responded with a gentle voice, offering words of appreciation.

“Oh, good morning. Thank you for your hard work today as well. And what is your name?”

“Yes! I am Galice, the Medical Director of Yomuan Royal University!”

“Galice, thank you for your hard work, everyone from the Kingdom of Yomuan. I hope you all receive the blessings of Crimeana.”

The Pope extended his right hand toward the Yomuan delegation, gesturing as if to bestow a blessing. In response, all members of the delegation stood up and saluted the Pope.

“Th-thank you for the gracious blessing!”

Galice, the self-proclaimed representative, couldn’t hold back tears of joy. The sight of a middle-aged man with a balding head crying had enough impact to surprise Linos and his group.

“Cough, well then, King Agarta, shall we also receive those documents?”

“Oh, how about getting them to the people from Crimeana?”

“W-what?! What are you saying?”

“Well, it seems like you’re on good terms with the Crimeanan folks, so maybe they can show it to you, or let you make copies of it?”

“What?! That’s nonsense! Why would I do that?”

“But I already gave two copies to the Crimeanan Church, right? So, they can show it to you?”

“Then what about the extra copies of the documents?”

“We have a place to keep them, so don’t worry.”

Prince Vairus raised his voice.

“We, the Hideita Empire, will take them.”

“Why?! This is absurd!”

“We will make copies of these documents. If your country is fine with copies of copies, we will prepare and deliver them to you soon. Of course, if there are any corrections needed, we will make the changes and provide you with the revised version. It won’t take more than a month or two until the reenactment experiments are completed. During this time, we will stay here in Aphrodite. We have plenty of free time until the results are out. We will proceed with copying these minutes, together with the Niza Kingdom delegation and the Dwarves who are aboard the same ship. If you have any preferences, please let us know, and we will make the copies for you.”

Prince Vairus received the minutes from me and returned to his seat with grace. At that moment, we received news that Chiwang and Roni had arrived. I went outside to set up barriers for the transferred patients. The patients were lying on beds and had arrived while asleep. Several Pousehai, who must have assisted in the transfer, were waiting by the beds. Additionally, the cursed beastmen that I had captured were also transferred.

“Linos-sama, here are the patients. And, this…”

“Ah, thank you for your efforts. As expected of the Pousehai, the work is well done. The barriers are already in place for the patients. Let’s move these people in first. The rest can wait; we’ll put them to sleep for now.”

Seeing the patients being brought in one by one, the venue became noisy. I explained that sterilization barriers were in place, but the murmurs in the hall continued. Meanwhile, the delegations responsible for the reenactment experiments went up to the stage and began carefully examining the conditions of the beastmen. Crimeana’s representatives took the longest time, but eventually, they all finished their investigations, confirming that the patients were infected with Kirisurei, Gaisha, and Luroans.

Afterward, the beastmen who were put to sleep were brought in, and the test subjects, the ogres, were provided by Crimeana and would be taken back by each country. Crimeana requested that they mutually confirm whether there were any abnormalities in the beastmen and ogres, which took some time for this verification process.

Eventually, that also came to an end. Chiwang and the others provided the bile of the sheep beastmen, and finally, Crimeana handed over documents detailing the flow of previous experiments and the necessary acid and its composition ratio required to create the antidote. With that, the preparations for the experiments were finally complete.

“Now, is a two-week experiment period acceptable? We will announce the results of the reenactment experiment on the 16th of September, at noon, back in this cathedral. Is that all right?”

The Pope confirmed the date and time for the reenactment experiment, and everyone nodded. The delegates from Yomuan, in particular, performed an impeccable salute.

Then, I channeled magic and cast a barrier within a one-kilometer radius. I handed over sterilization stones, which would disinfect anyone passing through the barrier. Each delegation received them, accompanied by Pousehai, and teleported back to their respective countries. On the stage, only our group and the representatives from Crimeana remained.

“Well, let’s see what the results will be… I’m looking forward to it. I am confident that our claims will be proven by all of you. Moreover, there might be new discoveries. When that time comes, please share them with us on the next occasion!”

Imani said as he shook hands with me, Mei, Chiwang, and Roni one by one. The Pope observed the scene, maintaining his usual gentle smile.
