Chapter 238: The Son’s Point of View

“Given the nature of your request, we cannot provide an immediate answer. Please take some time to reconsider while the conference continues,” Linos stated, concluding the meeting with King Reborn, and moved to the conference venue with Mei.

“What an absurd proposal, to take care of a reigning king… Such a troublesome father and son,” Linos muttered as he walked, followed by Mei, who could only offer a troubled smile in response.

“I secretly assessed both of them; the Great King is stubborn and serious to a fault, while his son is all about fun. It’s actually more complicated when there’s no apparent dark side to them,” Linos sighed deeply as they walked.

The medical research conference at the Agartha Institute, spanning three days, was intensely engaging. Nations presented their latest research, sparking both widespread agreement and heated debates that continued into the late hours, as researchers engaged in discussions.

Among them, King Reborn was particularly active in the debates. He raised questions immediately on matters of doubt and sought explanations until satisfied. He praised theories he agreed with wholeheartedly, immersing himself in validating the day’s papers and discussions late into the night.

After the conference, Linos engaged in various information exchanges with royals like King Nike of Sundanji, focusing mainly on the affairs of the Crimeana Theocracy, but also touching on military, domestic, and foreign matters.

Some royals and researchers who visited Linos were blatantly after Agartha’s information and technology, resorting to near-threats, but Gon, blending into the room undetected, provided telepathic advice, allowing Linos to decline without causing offense.

Having learned from his recent confrontations with Kassel and Vielle, Linos was extremely cautious in his interactions. However, he was building a cooperative framework with trustworthy kings and nations through the conference.

King Maintia, seemingly distracted during the conference, didn’t hide his disinterest and spent his time writing. Linos occasionally observed this father and son from his seat, finding their contrasting attitudes amusing.

On the final night, Linos visited the room where he first met King Reborn. King Maintia had requested a meeting, which had been delayed due to conflicting schedules.

“I’m exhausted,” Linos said upon entering the room.

King Maintia spoke casually, surprising Linos. The king’s attendants watched nervously, but Maintia, lying on the sofa and propping his head up, smiled at Linos.

“Sorry about my father’s unreasonable request. I wanted to share my thoughts before talking to him tomorrow. I’ve decided to stay in Agartha. How long I’ll stay will depend on my discussion with my father.”

“You’re quick to decide to leave your country. That doesn’t seem like a king’s decision,” Linos responded candidly.

“Don’t worry. I’m not fond of formality. Honestly, I was feeling suffocated in Alison Castle. Staying in Agartha, a place I’ve always been curious about, doesn’t bother me. Of course, that’s if the King of Agartha agrees.”

“But it’s problematic for a king to be absent from his country. Besides, Vladime Kingdom and Agartha aren’t allies or vassals. We can’t just take in another country’s king.”

“Interesting to hear you say that. My country will manage without me. My father thinks a king must handle all politics, but I disagree. It’s fine to leave most of it to capable ministers. He doesn’t trust his servants enough. Our country has capable people; politics can be left to them. A king should enjoy life too.”

“Your view sounds similar to the late king of Juka Kingdom.”

“Haha, don’t compare me to him. He was nothing but a tyrant, obsessed with women and his desires. I’m different. I care about Vladime’s future.”

Stunned, Linos listened as Maintia continued.

“My father is a proud knight, always living as if on a battlefield. That might have been necessary in his time, but not now. His rigid way tires our people. I want to do the opposite, ensuring they live peacefully and happily.”

Seated comfortably, Maintia looked at Linos with a cheerful expression.

“I understand your feelings. However, we also have our considerations. Let us think it over and respond during tomorrow’s meeting with King Reborn.”

“Great, I look forward to a good response,” said the king, his eyes sparkling as if refusal was out of the question. Linos sighed heavily and quickly left the room.
