Patterson, returning to the room, was greeted by the sight of Mei laughing heartily and Linos glaring at King Maintia. Despite the situation, the king himself was looking steadily at the two with his usual smile.
Hesitantly, Patterson conveyed King Roscano’s words.
“Um… if I may say so, King Roscano has agreed to hear King Agartha’s proposal. However, he admits he lacks the discernment to judge a clever woman. He suggests recruiting from within the castle, but if no one volunteers, he asks to search in Agartha.”
“Hmm… hahaha. That’s so like my father. Saying he can’t discern women, especially since he only ever knew my mother. So, we’re recruiting women from within the castle… I wonder who will come. This should be interesting.”
“Um… is there any woman in Alison Castle willing to serve under the king?”

Linos, overwhelmed by Patterson’s politeness, shook his head and replied.
“Ah, I’ll think about it. But your king… he’s something else.”
“What do you mean? Has our king done something…?”
“He asked for an interesting story. He said if it amused him, he would grant any one command, even if it was to die.”
“Your Majesty!”
Patterson looked at King Maintia in surprise, but the king remained unfazed, speaking lightly.
“I really wanted to hear a story from King Agartha. I thought he must have something interesting to say. And I wasn’t wrong; he did tell an interesting story. Don’t worry. King Agartha wouldn’t take my life. He knows better. And King Agartha, as per your command, I won’t speak of what I heard to anyone. This fulfills your command, right?”
Smiling, King Maintia looked at Linos, then turned his gaze to Patterson and the other attendants.
“Let everyone know, from now on, I am a student of Agartha. My attendants, three in number, are the same. Obey King Agartha’s orders as if they were mine, or rather, King Roscano’s.”
“…Your Majesty, what do you plan to do now?”
One attendant asked anxiously. The king, still smiling, replied.
“Now that I’m in Agartha, I’ll visit Queen Meirias for a health check, then tour the city’s sights and treasures. It’ll be busy.”
Laughing, the king turned the room light. Linos, watching all this, was approached by Patterson.
“King Agartha, I know our king may be difficult, but he’s not a bad man. In fact, when King Roscano retired and he ascended the throne, the whole country was relieved. He handles everything calmly and… serving him is a joy, despite his whims and lack of discipline with women.”
“That’s the worst part, isn’t it? …Well, fine. Out of respect for you, Patterson, I won’t make a fuss. Use the guest house for a while. We’ll send someone to assist you. If you need anything, ask them. But they’re skilled, so don’t think of taking advantage of them. And if the king misbehaves or does something I find disagreeable… you know what will happen.”
Patterson bowed respectfully. Linos, after casting a stern look at King Maintia and his attendants, left the room with Mei.

That evening, back at his residence in the imperial city, Linos was lost in thought at the dining table, troubled over how to handle King Maintia.
The delicious smell of Peyris’s cooking wafted through the air. The house grew noisy as family members returned home.
“Linos, what’s wrong?”
Rico, holding Eril, sat next to Linos. He shared the day’s events and the problem with King Maintia. Rico, while preparing Eril’s meal, listened intently.
“I’m home!”
Gon returned during their conversation.
“Master, what happened?”
“Aah, Gon, actually…”
As dishes continued to arrive, Linos explained everything to Gon.
“I see! Leave it to me!”
Gon, now in his white fox form, snapped his paws and nodded as if struck by an idea.
“Simple. We disguise King Maintia’s identity and take him to the pleasure district. It’s crowded, so he’ll blend in. The king will pay, so it won’t hurt our finances, and the establishments there ensure their clients’ safety. I’ll lay down a barrier for extra security. As a king, he won’t be stingy with money, and if we inform them early, they might even make special arrangements. If this is his first time, we could start with a softer experience. There are various types of women, and he can enjoy… Wait, what?”
Gon realized too late the disapproving stares from the women and the children being shielded from his words.
“Uh… I mean… just something I heard… Hahaha.”
Gon, sweating profusely, was met with a cold gaze from Rico. She nodded silently at Ferris and Luala, who stood behind Gon without expression.
“What? Ferris? Luala? What are you doing? Wait, where are we going? Hey, not there! Anything but that! Please!”
“Let’s eat while it’s hot,” Rico said, smiling but not with her eyes.
“Fool… No need to show your true colors here…”
Linos, amused and exasperated by Gon’s antics, decided to leave the king’s handling to him.
That night, Gon did not return to the residence.
