Chapter 245: An Unexpected Development

Leave a Comment / Reincarnation into a barrier master / By IX

“Master… what should we do…”

“Who would have thought it would come to this…”

In Linos’ office, Luala stood fidgeting nervously, her hands clasped tightly in front of her chest. Meanwhile, Linos sat in his chair, inadvertently looking up to the heavens. A tense atmosphere flowed between them.

“I should go alone…”

“No, that might not work.”

“Just stay quiet… If we stay quiet, no one will find out. I can make any excuse, I will handle it.”

“Luala… I understand your thinking, but… it’s only a matter of time before we’re discovered, isn’t it?”

“…”

“First, we need to talk to Rico.”

“Master…”

“Luala, stay here. I’ll go alone.”

“…”

Leaving a silently brooding Luala behind, Linos teleported to the imperial residence.

When he returned to the office after some time, Rico was with him. Seeing her, Luala’s eyes widened in shock, and she began to tremble slightly.

“Sister Rico…”

“Luala… I’ve heard everything from Linos. Leave the rest to me, I’ll handle it. Don’t worry.”

“But, sister…”

“Luala, aren’t you part of our family? Don’t worry about it.”

“Sister… I’m sorry.”

Luala remained downcast. Linos watched the conversation between the two with an indescribable expression. There was no room for him to interject. Sensing this, Rico turned to Linos.

“Leave the rest to me.”

“Rico… I’m sorry.”

Saying this, Linos left the office with Luala.

The whole situation began with a letter Luala sent to her father, King Poseidon. She expressed a desire to meet him directly, mentioning that she could only see him in two years. She wanted to introduce King Agartha, who she was indebted to, and asked for a specific date for a meeting. In the letter, she also mentioned King Maintia of Vladime, who was staying in Agartha and eager to learn from her father about handling women, as her father’s fame was well-known in their world.

Luala wrote this sarcastically, but unexpectedly, King Poseidon replied promptly, expressing a desire to meet King Maintia and setting the meeting date for the night of the full moon this month, or alternatively, in two years.

With only three days left until the full moon, Linos and his group hurriedly informed King Maintia and told King Poseidon they would visit in three days.

Traveling from Agartha to King Poseidon’s palace would take a week by normal means. They planned to use teleportation, but Linos’s teleportation barrier was a secret, so they decided to seek the help of the Pousehai, Chiwan, and Roni. The adjustment was difficult, but they managed to get their help.

The most challenging part was adjusting Linos and Luala’s schedules. They planned to return in three days, but it was extremely hard to find even this short period. Linos managed to adjust his schedule, but Luala’s was so packed that they couldn’t find a solution even the day before departure. Luala suggested staying in Agartha and sending a body double, but Linos rejected the idea as it would be easily exposed.

Linos then thought to involve Rico, who was in her stable period of pregnancy and would welcome a change of scenery. Rico eagerly agreed, and Linos was grateful, but government officials like Ferris and Luala dreaded Rico’s rigorous checks and numerous improvement directives.

While Luala was spared from direct hits, it was clear that Rico’s involvement would lead to a lot of rework. And the work would only pile up in Luala’s absence, which she would have to deal with upon her return.

Linos and Luala arrived at the guesthouse, where Pousehai, Maintia, and others were ready. Surprisingly, General Layfence was also there. Linos was astonished, as the general should have been busy training soldiers.

“It was I who invited him,” said King Maintia, smiling at Linos. “While talking to the general, he expressed a desire to meet King Poseidon, who I’m sure will like him.”

“But remember, our main purpose of visiting King Poseidon is negotiation. The matter of women is just a bonus,” Linos reminded.

King Maintia seemed to understand King Poseidon’s feelings well and was confident that the negotiations would go smoothly with their presence.

With this, Linos and his group, somewhat reluctantly, teleported to the city of Kairik in the Heideta Empire with the Pousehai.

After thanking the Pousehai and asking them to pick them up in three days, Linos cast a barrier around everyone except Luala, and they entered the sea. Luala’s movements in the water were swift, probably holding back to check on the others. Surprisingly, King Maintia was also skilled at swimming, having been rigorously trained by his father, King Roscano.

In the end, Linos was the slowest swimmer, dragging behind the others, much to Luala’s frustration.

Finally, they reached King Poseidon’s palace, reminding Linos of his bitter experience on his first visit.

“Be prepared; we had to wait a long time to enter the castle last time,” Linos warned General Layfence and King Maintia as they swam towards the castle gate.

The gatekeeper immediately recognized Luala and opened the gate, inviting them in. An attendant was ready to guide them, allowing them to move smoothly through the palace without any stops.

“This is much smoother than last time, isn’t it?” Linos noted.

Luala apologized for some reason, and they reached the audience hall without delay. Kaljat, the king’s aide, was waiting and quickly directed them towards the king without pausing for formalities.

After walking for a few minutes, they arrived at a large garden-like area surrounded by colorful coral reefs. King Poseidon sat at a large round table, smiling warmly at them. His handsome appearance was as impressive as ever.

“Please, have a seat,” King Poseidon said kindly. Mermen appeared, arranging chairs for them. Linos and his companions were guided to their seats without any pause.

“King Poseidon, it’s been a while since we’ve met. From the Kingdom of Agartha…”

“No need for formal greetings. Let’s skip the formalities. You’re here to learn about handling women? You all seem quite skilled already. My intuition was right to call you here. Let’s spend today discussing women, love, and romance to our heart’s content.”

General Layfence and King Maintia seemed impressed by King Poseidon’s understanding. The general looked ready to start the discussion. King Poseidon radiated great anticipation.

It felt like a boy’s school trip. Wait, am I also involved in this unsavory discussion?

Can’t we have this talk after I’m done with my part?
