A ruffian who was a crony of Mr. Jude's took us through a hidden passage to Mr. Blast's house. After treating Mr. Blast's battered body and his men in another room, Mr. Blast came back to life. He is getting ready to go in for a quick hit. It looks like it's time for a sermon.

I run to Mr. Blast's room with Jude. When we enter the room without knocking, we find Mr. Blast trying to put on his tattered armor, and Ellen arguing with him to stop him.

"Dad!"

"Oh, Jude! Now's your chance to beat the crap out of them!"

With a belligerent smile, Mr. Blast says to Ms. Jude. He is clearly a different kind of person from me, this cheerful guy, even though he has been beaten up so badly that his whole body is bandaged.

"Mr. Blast!"

"Oh, sir. Thanks again. I'll pay you back. Thank you so much.

Mr. Blast comes up to me and takes both my hands in his and thanks me. I guess he's really grateful, but he doesn't seem to want to go quietly. I also have a feeling that if I were to say I owe these kinds of people a favor, they would beat me to a pulp. Well, that's not the case here.

"Mr. Blast, last time you told me to stay quiet for a few days, didn't you?"

"Hmm? Yeah, I was trying to stay quiet too, but Nello's guys were coming at me, and I was in danger if I didn't answer. I'm sorry I didn't keep your word."

Oh, it's hard to get momentum for a sermon when you apologize so honestly. ....... No, I have to tell her something anyway, and it's bad for Vita too. Don't give up.

"But you're still trying to fight, even though I told you to rest, right?"

"M...... that's true, but if I don't answer, my boys are going to get hit. ......"

"Then there is a way to cooperate with Jude and the others to fight, instead of just going in there, isn't there? I'm not saying don't fight because of the situation. But have you thought of a way to fight without being reckless? It's unpleasant for the person who treated you to be injured so easily after you've gone to the trouble of healing."

I honestly don't care if Mr. Blast gets hurt, but Vita doesn't like it, so I have to tell her. I don't want to see the gentle Vita get angry or anything like that.

"I'm sorry, doctor. But if I don't become a target, the former adventurers Nello hired will be scattered. I don't know how many will die if that happens."

Mr. Blast looks frustrated. Are you in such a state?

"Are the other adventurers that strong? Mr. Blast took them on and beat one of them, didn't he?"

"They said they were a party of former B-rank adventurers. They were bragging that they couldn't get up there because of their bad behavior, but that they were A-ranked. It pissed me off, but they were good enough to say so. Even Jude could have handled one of them.

...... Huh? Mr. Blast stands alone against such an opponent and defeats one of them while being seriously injured. ...... Could it be that Mr. Blast is super strong?

"That means that when a conflict starts, you can't win without Mr. Blast, right? You said that the other side is confused, but we know that Mr. Blast is badly hurt, so it's strange that they don't attack us."

Don't you think they know they can do whatever they want now?

"I only managed to kill one of the ex-adventurer's helpers, but I wounded at least one of them. I don't think they'll be able to attack this house we're holed up in so easily. So now is our chance. We'll beat them while they're still tired!"

...... Hmmm, not the air for a sermon. If you're saying that more people are going to die if Mr. Blast doesn't get out, then it's going to be very hard to stop him. What can I do? He glances at Sylphy and Vita.

"Yuta, it will be easier if I make a move. Would you like that?"

Sylphy offers a quick and easy solution, but I have a feeling that's not quite right. To be honest, I don't have the obligation to go that far, and even if I did, I don't think Mr. Blast and the others would be happy because of their reputation. But that doesn't mean I should just go home. It's difficult.

After thinking about it, I shake my head toward Sylphy. Hmmm...maybe we can get Mr. Blast to hang a wall of wind on Sylphy's head...? Then Mr. Blast's warriors would start and he would win easily.

"Mr. Blast, for example, if you had a defensive magic that would never hurt us, we could win, right?"

"Of course you could win, but it wouldn't be a battle, it would be a slaughter."

Mr. Blast says disgustedly. What an idea! Why don't you just play it safe! Let's just be happy! You don't need aesthetics to fight. ...... No, I tried to fight as much as possible without the help of the Great Spirit, so are we in the same boat? No, it's not. I would have cried to Sylphy the moment I got hurt. I don't have a better idea. I think I'll take a break.

I see. I need to think about something. Can I take a break by myself? And during that time, please don't answer the attack from Mr. Blast."

"But, doctor, the longer it takes, the more energy they'll have."

"Don't worry, it won't be that long of a break. I may be able to help you a little once you get your thoughts together. Please be patient. Ellen, please keep an eye on Mr. Blast so he doesn't go off to fight.

Leaving a slightly disgruntled Mr. Blast, I ask Jude to show me to an unused room. Somehow we'll find a good way to support them and end this war quickly. Otherwise, we'll miss our visit to Beryl's Jewel.

*****

"So, what do you want to do, Yuta?"

After we entered the rented room and took a break, Sylphy asked me a question.

(I know it would be easy with Sylphy's help, but that seems to be a problem. I thought about asking Mr. Blast to put Sylphy's wind wall over it, but he doesn't seem to like it, so what should I do?)

"There's nothing wrong with having pride, but it's troublesome when you get involved. As for Yuta, he can't abandon you, can he?"

Mr. Sylphy, you know exactly what you're talking about.

(Even if I only heard your story briefly, Mr. Blast is a few steps better than you. (I've asked for eels, and I'd feel better if Mr. Blast was in charge of the slum, if possible.)

Even if Nello is in charge, we can just go to Lake Beryl with Belle and the others to get the eels after a night out. But I don't like the idea that all our efforts would be in vain.

"But we're going to lose if we don't do something, aren't we?"

(Yes. If Mr. Blast loses, it's the end of the world, and if Vita doesn't get treated in time, it's a deadlock at that point. The question is how much help we can give him to turn things around from here.)

Even if you don't think about it, you're at a disadvantage. It may be no wonder that Mr. Blast is pushing himself too hard.

"Why don't you just let Blast go in? If he gets hurt, Vita can take care of him.

Sylphy, perhaps feeling annoyed, said something frightening. Vita will get angry if I say such a thing. I fearfully ask Vita how she is doing.

"Ha-ha, Yuta. I'm not a child either, so I won't get angry over something like this. People fighting is the same as it's always been. It's not fun, but it can't be helped. I'll cooperate if Yuta's involved. Well, I'd prefer if as few people died as possible."

You're not as nervous about life as I am. I'm sure it's not pleasant, but you've lived long enough to experience a lot. You know that people die in conflicts when you say "as much as possible". In a way, you know the reality much better than I do.

When I hear the word "conflict", I always think of it as a fight somewhere. Even though Mr. Blast is being poisoned and beaten to a pulp. Anyway, I'll try my best to keep Mr. Blast and his men alive. I can't take care of them ...... that much.

Sylphy's wind wall doesn't seem to fit Mr. Blast's personality, so I think it's better to boil down what Sylphy said and formulate it. I guess the feeling of working hard or risking one's life is important to the Blastos. It's a world I don't understand at all.

(Well, as long as we can manage a party of ex-adventurers, it seems to be all right... I'll ask Mr. Blast to do his best like Sylphy said. Vita will have to treat the same people over and over again, is that OK with you?)

"Yeah, okay."

Thank you. Let's go back."

We leave the room we have been lent for the break and return to Mr. Blast's room. Mr. Blast is wandering around the room like a bear. I'm scared.

"Anyway, I've heard about the situation and I've come up with an idea that may help you. Do you want to hear it?"

"Oh, doctor, let's hear it!"

Mr. Blast moves his face closer to mine. His eyes are bloodshot and scary.

"Well, as Mr. Blast said, I'm going to ask you to be the target. The rest of the team will not be on the offensive, but rather on the defensive. Organize a rescue team behind him. If he gets hurt, bring him to me as soon as possible. I will treat all of them. Your first priority is not to die. And the skilled men are to stall for time in case Mr. Blast is wounded. Please buy time against the ex-adventurer party so that you do not die until Mr. Blast comes back after healing. If Mr. Blast finally defeats the ex-adventurer party, the rest will be fine, right?"

"Doctor, does that mean I have to keep fighting and healing until my father wins?"

Ms. Ellen's face is pale. He is about to perform a zombie attack on his father. No wonder he looks pale. At first I thought of placing Vita by Mr. Blast's side and have her heal him on the spot whenever he gets hurt, but that would be too much.

"Right. I don't know about you, but this way is the best way to win with the least amount of deaths. As long as Mr. Blast doesn't die instantly, we'll win.

"Funny, as long as I don't die, it means the doctor will heal me, right?"

"That's what I mean. If you don't die, I'll fix everything. However, you cannot be cured if you die, and your health will not be completely restored after the treatment. Don't be too reckless and come back for treatment as soon as possible.

"Oh, doctor, I'm in your debt. All right, call Jude. Let's get in position and beat Nello to a pulp!"

Dad, are you okay?

"Oh, I'm not weak enough to be killed instantly by those guys. You're a good teacher. If you don't die, you'll be cured. You've already won.

Mr. Blast confidently answers Ms. Ellen's worried question. I don't understand the nerve to be pleased with this wild plan. Well, it doesn't matter. At any rate, if we win quickly, we can go to the Beryl's Jewel. No problem. Mr. Jude, who was apparently leading the mission outside, is brought in and the strategy meeting begins.
