Yu Ling discovered that before she managed to finish a TV episode, her husband had already betrayed her. Watching Lu Chonghua give Cai Youyang some vegetables again, Yu Ling pulled him with great force. But to think that he even shook off her hand and asked what the matter was!

Yu Ling was so angry with him that after eating dinner and waiting for Lu Feng and Cai Youyang to go upstairs, she pinched Lu Chonghua’s arm and asked, “Have you now accepted Xiao Cai as your daughter-in-law? Why are you so affectionate to him?”

Lu Chonghua replied, “Xiao Cai’s very good. Don’t give him too much of a hard time in the future.”

Yu Ling loosened her grip and gazed at Lu Chonghua in shock.

Upstairs, Cai Youyang was seated on the bedside blow-drying his hair, while Lu Feng laid in bed reading a book. When Cai Youyang was halfway done drying his hair, as he thought about Lu Chonghua’s change in attitude toward him, he turned off the hairdryer and asked Lu Feng, “Hey, do you think Dad’s beginning to accept me?”

Lu Feng hummed in response, gaze not straying from the book. Cai Youyang snatched the book and said, “I’m talking serious business here.”

All of a sudden, Lu Feng’s two hands only held air. He had no other option but to raise his head to look at him. “What’re you talking about? That isn’t something that’s bound to happen sometime in the future.”

“Then how do you explain this sudden change?” Cai Youyang still couldn’t figure it out. He kicked off his slippers, squeezed right beside Lu Feng, and pulled himself up to Lu Feng’s shoulders. “What did you do? You told Dad that I cured your unmentionable illness?”

Lu Feng responded, “Nope, I still haven’t told either of them.”

Cai Youyang hurriedly said, “Then don’t say it first. Let’s wait until they become really worried before we… we tell them. After my persistent efforts, you can… finally do it. Do you think they’ll be overjoyed?”

Lu Feng stared at him in surprise, not knowing how to respond. What unmentionable illness? In fact, he never had it from the very beginning.

When Cai Youyang saw his peculiar expression, his excitement turned into melancholy. “But I don’t want to deceive Mom and Dad either,” he said, turning his head to the side and pouting in dissatisfaction. When he turned his head back again, his original expression was restored. “Lu Feng, I’m a bit worried, but this can’t be blamed on me, ok?”

I don’t blame you.“ Lu Feng pinched his cheek. “I think that’s a good idea.”

Cai Youyang’s worries turned into joy instead. He nodded his head multiple times. “Really?”

Lu Feng hummed in agreement. He placed a hand on the back of Cai Youyang’s neck, pushed his head forward, and kissed him. Cai Youyang was in a good mood, so he wrapped his arms around Lu Feng’s neck and deepened the kiss. The initially light kiss became wet and sticky. Soon, the warm room heated up.

Lu Feng was only given a short vacation, so he left for home on the third day of the new year. Naturally, Cai Youyang returned with him as well. The two had a house near the municipal bureau. But before they left, Cai Youyang was held back by Yu Ling, who taught him quite a lot of local prescriptions that act as a tonic for the kidneys.

Once they were back at their small home, Cai Youyang’s entire body relaxed, and he bonelessly plopped onto the bed. Lu Feng bent down, threw him a stool, and made him sit on the balcony and bask in the sunlight. Thus, Cai Youyang sat in the corner and watched Lu Feng take out a quilt and a pillow to let them dry. He went to help, but Lu Feng felt that he was just in the way, so he could only return to his little stool.

Bored, he lazily checked his friend circle online. There, he was Yu Xisheng post a short video. Da Huang had given birth to a litter of puppies. Altogether, there were… one, two, three, four, five; there were five in total. The little native puppies still couldn’t open their eyes. Wiggling in their mother’s embrace, they relied on their intuition to search for their mother’s mammary glands to drink milk.

Cai Youyang watched the video several times. There was a little native dog puppy whose eyes were slightly open like it was squinting, making it look like it was smiling. Its nose was wet, a section of its pink tongue was exposed, with the puppy seeming unable to withdraw its tongue again.

Lu Feng came over and said, “What are you looking at?”

Cai Youyang quickly showed him the video. It was less than ten seconds. Very short. He pointed at the earthy-yellow-colored puppy and told Lu Feng, “Isn’t it very cute?”

Lu Feng had been with him for seven to eight years. As soon as he raised his butt, he already knew what was on his mind. “Want to raise one?” Then Lu Feng gave him a cold dose of reality, saying, “Our house is only 80 square meters big, Do you think we can raise a dog here?”

Cai Youyang shot glances around their house that hardly had much free space. Reluctant, he said, “You don’t need a big place to raise a dog.” He walked toward a wall and drew a circle with his finger. “We can build a kennel here and place a dog bowl. Should be fine.”

Lu Feng added, “You’ll have to give the dog a bath and also teach it to poop at the same place. Then as the season changes, the dog will lose a lot of hair and you’ll have to sweep it every day…”

“…” Cai Youyang considered for a moment. Then as though nothing had happened, he said, “Now that I took a closer look, it actually isn’t that cute. It looks rustic. Forget it. Let’s talk about it once we have money.”

Lu Feng nodded and turned to sweep the floor.

Cai Youyang reluctantly watched the puppy for the last time. He wanted to exit WeChat afterward, but when he clicked to go back to the main feed, he found that Yu Xisheng had posted a friend circle. This friend circle mainly focused on their little children. The eleven-and-a-half-year-old Guo Liulan had already grown into a little boy. The kid’s previously plump cheeks had somewhat slimmed down, and he was much taller than the last time Cai Youyang had seen him. Dressed in black and white taiji clothes, the little boy imitated the starting posture and performed a set of Shaolin’s Longfist martial arts. The moves were very aesthetically pleasing.

Cai Youyang didn’t blink at all as he stared at his phone. Once Lu Feng realized that he hadn’t moved for a long time, he approached him and silently stared at him for a while. Soon after, he sent Luo Rang a WeChat message: “Can you get your wife to stop sending friend circles?”

Luo Rang: “?”

Lu Feng let out a sigh. Forget a dog, a kid definitely wasn’t someone they could raise just because they suddenly wanted to.
