Both Braedon and Kai Jun charged in at the exact same time. With a loud grunt, Braedon swung the feather over his shoulder and brought it down onto the shadowy figure. The man held up his arm and stopped his attack with only two finger, but right then Kai Jun appeared under him and gave him a gash across his thigh.
The wound didn't last long as it was quickly filled in and repaired by the shadows surrounding the man's body. "Something like that won't affect me!" The Shadow man lifted Braedon up, who was still holding the feather, and threw him aside while turning around and kicking Kai Jun in the chest.
He flew back into the skeletal throne. The chair shattered into pieces and one of the ribs pierced into Kai Jun's side.
"Those are the skeletons of some of the defeated monsters that lived in this tower in the past. Although they themselves were not powerful, their skeletons have quite the piercing power.
Braedon didn't say a word as he got back up and lifted the feather to the sky. A bright light shined above them as a ball of fire formed over his head.
Kai Jun too stood up and ripped the rib out of him. He began to run in Braedon's direction under the watchful eye of the Shadow man. Once he reached Braedon's side, Kai Jun just stood there and waited patiently.
While giving off a shout, he threw him hand to the Shadow man's direction and the fireball floated towards him. The man looked at the flaming heap gliding over and laughed, "It's a little slow isn't it?" Just as The was about to move out of the way, the ball exploded into dozens of little flames.
Each small flame flew toward the man at blinding speeds. The man knocked alway a few of the fireballs but some of the others were able to strike him. Unfortunately, the shadows would consume all of the attacks that would reach him.
Just as he smacked another ball away, in its place Kai Jun appeared directly in front of him thrusting his sword forward at the man's heart. The man quickly jumped back in a panic and another ball of flame struck him in the shoulder.
But the attacks didn't stop there as he had Kai Jun continued to get into the Shadow man's blind spots and attack him from there. The two figures danced in a rain of fire while hacking and slashing at each other.
The man didn't use a weapon of his own. Instead when he attacked, his suit would form the shape of a long scimitar. Kai Jun tried to avoid this blade as much as he could while at the same time trying to stab at him.
Braedon continuously made fireballs to launch at the man, but his energy was draining quickly. The flames were actually just concentrated all's of "heaven's force" that used the heat radiating from the feather to light aflame.
But this power wasn't just forming out of thin air. Braedon was using the energy inside of himself to form these balls and was attempting to regain as much strength as possible by absorbing the power in the air. Unfortunately the rate of absorption was much slower than the rate of consumption of Braedon's strength.
He needed to take a break and as soon as he stopped shooting his flames, the Shadow man quickly took this chance to fight back. He formed his scimitar and aggressively attacked Kai Jun as if he had killed the other party's family.
He struck hard blows one after the other and one of the attack went through forming a huge gash across Kai Jun's chest. He quickly retreated and hopped backwards toward Braedon and kneeled down on the ground clutching his wound.
"Kai Jun are you okay!?" Braedon knelt down right beside him and placed the feather next to the opened injury. Another convenient ability of the feather was that it quickened the rate of healing to who ever was beside it. Unfortunately this too drained Braedon of most of his strength.
While the wound didn't close all the way, the bleeding stopped. "Thanks, I should be fine now."
Braedon nodded as he whispered to Kai Jun, "I know that this has mostly been for me to train, but I really think that it is time for you to use your full strength and to stop holding back."
While waiting for an answer, he started to gather as much "heaven's force" in that air as possible. Braedon had less than twenty percent of his powers left but the Shadow man was still uninjured.
"Braedon, I think its time for a confession."
"I swear if you tell me your actually very weak or something!"
"No, but it's more like I can't use my full power right now. My strength isn't something that I regain over time very easily, instead it has taken me hundred of years to regain half of my original abilities. The problem is that if I go all out right now, us fighting the entity and winning might be impossible."
Kai Jun's revelation came as a surprise to Braedon, but he wasn't really shocked. Braedon's knew that his understanding of cultivation was so minuscule that an random beast would probably know more than him. As such he kept a very opened mind.
"Ok, the. What do we do." Even if he couldn't use his full strength, Kai Jun probably had some sort of plan.
"How about the new ability you have unlocked, try using that."

The blue energy surrounding Braedon was clearly visible to all including Braedon himself. "Use the blue aura you have surrounding you!"
"Does it have some sort of ability? Isn't this thing something that all cultivators have?"
Then a realization struck down on Kai Jun as he remembered something horrifying. Braedon's knowledge of cultivation was les than 1/10,000 his own knowledge and the blue energy was something only a select few know about.

At that moment, the Shadow man slammed down directly in front of them, "I'm getting a little bored, maybe it's time for you to die." He held up his arm and a large amount of shadows began to form on it.
They started to split up into several different lines and become floating spears. He waved his hand forward and all of the spears flew at them like a pack of hungry wolves chasing a sheep.
In an instance both Kai Jun and Braedon focused their minds, they used everything in their power to dodge and weave passed every single spear. But if they dodged or knocked away one, ten more take its place. It was a never ending barrage of sharp lances.
One of the lances broke through Braedon's defense. It moved towards him and just as it was about to pierce him Kai Jun stepped up in front of Braedon, shielding him from the blow.
He turn his head around and with a pain grunt, he shouted at Him.
"Braedon, listen to me! Focus you mind and concentrate. Allow your power to flow out and let the hidden power inside of you manifest and use it to do something. I don't care what it does but just let it get us out of this situation!"
Listening to his advice, Braedon closed his eyes and concentrated. He didn't allow the spears and lances to frighten or disturb him, instead he felt his strength flow throughout his body.
Something was strange though. There was some sort of different ability inside of him that felt different than the rest. Usually "heaven's force" would feel like a relaxing massage that drew away his stress and pain, but this mysterious power felt like a drug.
If he used it too much, he might become addicted from how good it felt. As the power kept coalescing into a ball of energy in his hands, his eyes shot open and the energy freely flowed out around the area.
As the spears once more flew at them, the energy began to surround them and the weapons suddenly stopped midair.
The Shadow man looked at the scene in shock, "What?!" The weapons began to disintegrate and instead something else took its place. Seven trumpets of light formed in front of them and they each blew out a sound so loud that the walls around them cracked under the vibrations.
Braedon was suddenly bathed in a white light that surrounded his body similarly to how the Shadow man's suit was. Except in the light of his own suit, the Shadow man was forced to take a step back as he began to smoke.
"What is that thing?!" As he trembled in pain the Shadow man tried to escape as quickly as possible.
But Braedon's voice called out behind, his voice was a bit strange though. Instead of being his normal voice, it sounded as if over a hundred people were speaking in unison.
"Your punishment for spilling the blood of the innocent must be served, for justice will always prevail. Allow me to purify your soul oh dirty one, be cleansed!" And with these words a beam of light shot out of Braedon's hands and surrounded the Shadow man.
As he screamed out in pain, he looked back and spotted out curses at the both of them, "Damn you! Damn you!" And with this, he died a very strange death.
Braedon collapsed onto the ground after that attack and his vision blurred as his consciousness faded.
Kai Jun stood back and laughed to himself, "What a success." All of the wounds he had on his body rapidly healed so quickly that if it wasn't for his ripped clothing, no one would believe that he was just in an "intense" battle.
He sat down right besides Braedon's head and began to gingerly pet it, as if he was rubbing his favorite dog's head.
"Sorry Braedon, but you needed a little bit of pressure on you. After all you are so close to achieving your full potential!" Kai Jun of course knew that the blue energy would have such an effect of Braedon. This was because of Braedon's current state.
As a soul, he connected to the soul realm much easier, Heaven is just as such Braedon made the perfect vessels for all of the people who died at the Shadow man's hands to avenge themselves.
Although this was something that Kai Jun felt a little guilty for tricking Braedon into doing, he couldn't deny that Braedon received a huge amount of benefits thanks to this. After this, even though he was just a beginner, his ability to use the blue energy should rise rapidly.
Kai Jun lifted up Braedon and placed him upon his shoulders, "Let's go home." He carried him onto the roof of the tower where a giant doorway waited for them. As he opened the doorway, a swirl shined before him and with a smile Kai Jun walked through to the other side.
