Yue Jingchen was already awake by then. He was lying on the bed with his face pale. His left wrist was bandaged and there was an IV drip attached to his right hand.
He did not have much of a reaction when he saw Pan Yunfeng. On the contrary, he almost turned his head away to avoid looking at her.
“Jingchen, look who I brought here,” Pan Yunfeng said.
Yue Jingchen turned around and saw Yu Zi. Upon seeing her, his face was filled with joy and he wanted to sit up.
Pan Yunfeng stopped him just in time. “Jingchen, don’t move. You still have the IV drip attached to your hand. Be careful. The doctor said you lost a lot of blood and you don’t have your strength back yet. Don’t move around.”
Pan Yunfeng raised the top of the bed while saying this. Then, she helped Yue Jingchen move into a sitting position to make him feel more comfortable.
However, Yue Jingchen’s face fell when he saw Yan Huaian with Yu Zi.
“Why is he here?” Yue Jingchen asked angrily.
Yu Zi sighed. “What are you doing? Is this what you want? Do you want to die after breaking up? Do you want to guilt trip me for the rest of my life?”
Yue Jingchen did not expect the first things she said to him to be this. His face turned dark. “I just want to see you. I don’t want to break up with you.”
“Yue Jingchen,” Yu Zi pressed her lips together and said patiently, “No one can guarantee that couples can stay together till the end. Even if it’s not about the engagement, we will inevitably fight about this in the future and then will eventually break up then. Even if we get married in the future, we might get a divorce. Do you want to die every time I want to break up with you? You can’t be this selfish. I have the right to choose whatever makes me happy. I have the right to happiness. If I stay with you, I won’t be happy. So, would you rather die than see me happy?
Yue Jingchen was taken aback by what Yu Zi said. He frowned and replied, “How can you say that? I didn’t mean that! We were fine before the engagement. So, your hypotheses isn’t true. How do I not make you happy? I’d do anything to make you happy!”
Yu Zi shook her head. “But what you did is making me really unhappy. Yue Jingchen, how many times do I have to say this? We’ve already broken up. We won’t get back together no matter how much of a fuss you make.
Yan Huaian let out a sigh in relief after hearing Yu Zi say this. He did not show much of a reaction on the surface, but his eyes were shining with happiness.
“No! That’s not it! We were so good before! Didn’t we discuss what would happen after we got married on the night before our engagement? We would inevitably have some fights during our years together, but we never had anything that was enough to make us want to break up! She saw a plate of fruits on the nightstand next to the bed. On the plate was a pearing knife.
She went over and grabbed the knife. Then, she pressed the knife on her left wrist, right on her vein.
“That’s enough! Yue Jingchen, do you think you’re the only one that wants to die?” Yu Zi screamed. “If you don’t stop pestering me, I will die in front of you!”
Yue Jingchen stopped moving. He looked at Yu Zi in shock.
“I’m not playing with you.” Yu Zi’s expression was dark, and her left hand clenched into a fist. She made up her mind and pressed down, making a cut on her wrist. Her blood started dripping out after this, painting the knife red.
“Yu Zi!” Yan Huaian screamed. He did not expect her to do this. His eyes were red with anger, so he walked over and tried to take the knife away from Yu Zi.
Yu Zi backed away. “Get away from me! Yan Huaian, you too! If not, I’ll slit my own wrist!”
Yan Huaian looked at her in frustration. He wanted to grab her and hit her.
How could this woman joke with her own life?
She could not do this even if she is threatening Yue Jingchen.
