Nora was overjoyed to see Carlos gobbling down the food she had prepared. She could not help feeling that there was nothing that she wouldn't happily do for Carlos as long as he liked it.

Suddenly, she seemed to remember something. She turned around and fetched a bottle of wine from the wine cabinet, proposing, "How can we have a candlelight dinner without red wine? Let's have some wine!"

Then she poured two glasses of wine, but she did not take a seat.

Carlos turned to Nora, staring at her in confusion. She seemed filled with tenderness and was as soft as water.

She looked at Carlos affectionately, but her tone was playful. "I read in books about the wedding ceremonies of the ancient people, and I found it really quite interesting. In these ancient wedding ceremonies, the bride and groom would drink their wine 'cross-cupped.' Shall we give it a try?"

In fact, Nora had always felt that the wedding traditions of the ancient times were breathtaking. She had decided long ago that if she ever felt like getting married in the future, she would follow the traditional wedding ceremony and the "crossed-cupped wine" was the embodiment of that.

Sharing the same bottle of wine, sharing the same life.

How romantic that sounded! How she wished that she and Carlos could one day live like that. But lately, that dream had seemed impossible.

Staring intently at Nora, who was especially beautiful and enchanting under the candlelight tonight, Carlos couldn't help being captivated by her. She looked like a pure angel, just like the first time when he had fallen in love with her. She was so beautiful that he didn't dare to look her in the eyes.

Utterly spellbound, Carlos stepped forward and took one of the glasses from Nora's hand. With a gentle smile on his face, he looked into Nora's eyes as they crossed arms. Then, she lowered her head and drank from her own glass of wine, blushing affectionately. He did likewise.

The moment they had drained their wine glasses, they felt that this wine was the most delicious out of all the other drinks they had ever enjoyed in their whole lives.

After drinking the wine, Nora felt aroused as if by a love hormone. She hooked her arms around Carlos's neck and kissed his lips passionately. Her watery eyes made Carlos unable to restrain himself any longer. His heart thumped, and he put his hands around Nora's neck

of her sight. Then she reluctantly closed the door behind her.

Before long, Carlos arrived home. Over the phone, his father had only said that he had something important to discuss with him regarding the poison that he'd been dosed with. When he arrived home, he found that both Chuck and Leah were waiting for him on the sofa.

As soon as she saw Carlos's pale face, Leah immediately realized that something was wrong. "My son, why do you look so pale? Are you sick again?"

Hearing her concern, Carlos gave her a small hug and comforted her, saying, "Mom, don't worry. I just had a little headache. I'm okay."

"I know you are just saying that to comfort me. Do you know how much your father and I worry about you?" Leah complained, her voice filled with worry and anger.

Of course, Carlos knew how much his parents cared about him. His father had always been an honest and upstanding man, but he had compromised because of his son. How could he not be both moved and touched?

"Well, that's enough," Chuck interrupted her and turned to Carlos. "I went to meet with Jacob today. He has sent Sam to investigate what happened to you when you were poisoned. But he asked us to cooperate with him about Darren's arrest warrant. What do you think?"

Although he had promised Jacob that he would do it, he still needed to know Carlos's thoughts on the matter. Carlos knew both Darren and Jacob better than he did, so he felt his son would have better judgment in this.

After all, his son's life was on the line now. Should something go wrong, Carlos would pay the ultimate price.
