"Bad news! My lady, bad news!" A servant girl ran into the lounge shouting. When she saw Shen Tianyu, she finally stopped and leaned over, her hands on her knees to catch her breath.

"What's wrong?" Shen Tianyu picked up a piece of chocolate and put it in her mouth languidly.

"You guys let your people run around like this?" Rong Jian asked with a quirked eyebrow.

"No, but if it's an important matter, such minor rules can be ignored. Besides, there aren't any guests here so it doesn't matter."

"Your Palace Master is very kind."

"One must not only rule with an iron fist or else the people under you will one day snap and rebel."

"Is that something your Master told you?"

"It's simple logic." Shen Tianyu didn't answer his question. By now, the servant girl had caught her breath enough to relay the bad news she was shouting about.

She straightened up and bowed, adopting a subservient manner to try to replace the previous disgraceful appearance. "Mistress, news came from the Imperial Palace just now. The Empress has hanged herself."

Shen Tianyu and Rong Jian stared at the servant girl in silent shock for a while. It wasn't until she started fidgeting that their souls returned to their bodies. "Um... is there something weird on me?"

"No, no. We were just shocked sorry about that." Shen Tianyu spoke first and Rong Jian nodded. She took in a harsh breath of air through her teeth before she asked the servant girl. "Do you know why the Empress hanged herself?"

"Not the whole story, but people are saying it has to do with what happened at the Goodwill Tournament."

"They would definitely cover this up, did this information come from some of our people in the Palace?"

"Yes. The Emperor is thinking of announcing that she's sick from depression before announcing her death a few days after, once the people from Xi Qi have left."

Shen Tianyu sighed as she picked up her teacup then took a sip before setting it down again. "How troublesome... we're going to have to wait a little more..." Though she said so, there was a small smirk at the corner of her lips.

"Does Wifey want to go and see the show?" Rong Jian asked as he took a break and drank some tea.

"Why do you you think that?" She asked with a teasing smile at him.

"Wifey has a face that says she's really interested." He replied.

"Well," she sighed. "I Indeed want to watch the show but I don't want to take any big risks. Some monarchs like to practice this little thing called 'silencing witnesses'. Besides, everyone thinks we're workers here or something so there's no way such information would be reported to us so fast, I don't want to blow our cover. Let!s just wait a little more." She then turned to the servant girl. "You, report to the Manager and Assistant Manager."

The servant girl bowed to the both of them, excused herself and went to report to her other superiors. The couple continued to chat, eat and drink tea as if they didn't know that a storm was approaching.

"What does Tian'er think will happen?" Rong Jian asked for her take on the upcoming events.

"Something big, maybe even a lot of 'something big's." She responded vaguely with a gleam in her eyes.

"What 'something big'?"

"Jing Qie and Xi Qi were enemies up until only a decade ago. Naturally, they need to monitor the situation in each other's center of movement, the Imperial Palace. Even established allies do this so former enemies would definitely do so too."

"Spies." He said simply.

Shen Tianyu nodded and continued. "Something this big, they can try to keep it from the people but they can't hide it from those inside the Imperial Palace. That's how rumors about the Imperial Palace form sometimes, leaked information. The couple form Xi Qi is sure to have caught wind of this. The Empress seemed quite close with this Empress so she's sure to have a fit of rage and cause a scene. The Emperor may be the official decision maker in Xi Qi's pair politically but the Empress still has the Emperor's heart in her hands. Not to mention, both Empresses have contributed much to their individual countries as well as the current peace so dismissing her would not be a good idea. The Emperor of Xi Qi also can't lock her up all of a sudden like Jing Lan did. She's also smart enough to prevent it if he tried. Though technically the Emperor rules, the Empress also holds considerable power within Xi Qi and outside it!s territory too. She usually just chooses not to utilize it since the couple is on good terms and don't wish to cause distress over some petty personal fights. In addition, the Emperor has had to have interacted with Jing Qie's Empress before while they were working out the peace treaties. He might even consider her a friend of some sort. In that situation, he would be more reluctant in stopping his wife making a scene. Basically, it's drama between two royal couples that could even lead to another war." Shen Tianyu brought the tea to her lips and drank some mouthfuls.

"Indeed but in such a conservative place, will they really cause so much trouble just for a woman?" Rong Jian questioned.

Shen Tianyu wanted to tease him by asking what he meant but refrained. She knew it wasn't that he thought badly of women, rather he was questioning about the social culture of this continent. "She's not just any woman though. She's the Empress of a kingdom, and someone who has broken boundaries and contributed greatly to both her kingdom and the continent as a whole. She's an important figure."

"So you're saying they might go to war?"

Shen Tianyu shrugged. "It's just a possibility. They might not end up doing so after thinking some and consider keeping the peace as respecting her wishes and accomplishments but there definitely will be tensions for a long time to come. Especially if Jing Lan promotes that Nobel Consort."
