"I'm looking forward to Tian'er's cooking!" Rong Jian smiled as he stared at the plate she had placeddown, as if not wanting to wait. Once everything was put in place and the servants were no longer streaming in, he grabbed his chopsticks and went straight for her dish of omelets. She took up her chopsticks after him, as she always did at his residence, and took a piece of pig liver stewed in beef sauce and cooked with bak choy. She watched his reaction as she picked up some rice from her bowl and put it in her mouth along with the pig liver.

"It's delicious!" He exclaimed after swallowing a piece of her omelet.

"It's not that great. I think your chefs still make better food than I do." She told him as she thought he was overreacting. It was one of the simplest dishes a person can make and she had eaten it by herself many times before, she knew what it tasted like. It definitely didn't measure up to the gourmet level food of a Wangfu's chef. Besides, the temperature of the stone stove is more unevenly distributed than the countertop stoves she had used in her previous life so the omelets were probably unevenly cooked.

"That's not true, Tian'er's food tests the best in the world! Please cook for me again in the future~." He smilingly told her as he reached for the plate again. "By the way, what is this dish called?"

"They're Omelets." She replied simply. "They're really simple to make, I'm pretty sure your chefs can make it just fine."

"No. I want Tian'er to make it. Not just this but also other foods." Rong Jian told her.

She smiled at him after she finished chewing. "If you do well in the future again, I might."

"Alright! I'll make Tian'er the happiest woman and eat a bunch of your food!"

"It's not going to be a common occurence, I assure you. I like the food by your chefs after all." She continued to eat her dinner.

A little bit sad by that fact, Rong Jian continued to eat all of the omelets on the plate before he moved on to the rest of the side dishes on the table.

After dinner, the two took a walk around the residence to burn off the calories and because Shen Tianyu was yet to be familiar with the whole residence. They chatted some more about the Chengyuan School and other minor things.

"By the way, I became acquainted with Ningwu Liushan and Bai Longtian during the entrance exam. Are they high nobility or something over here?" She knew some information about the Bai and Ningwu families but hearing from the locals were still a good source of information gathering, especially from the high-tiered members of society. Lavender Palace was spread across four whole continents, and though it did have an astounding reputation, there might always be things they could have missed.

"Tian'er should already know about those two families so why are you asking me?" Rong Jian replied as the two of them kept walking.

"I just thought you guys in the higher echelons of the social hierarchy might know more than me. It's never a bad idea to double check. Besides, you think we are gods or something? Our Lavender Palace, and therefore our manpower, is spread across four continents, you really expect us to have details on every little thing?" She shrugged her shoulders as she walked beside him.

"If you say so." He raised an eyebrow in slight disbelief and amusement but he still told her what he knew anyways. "The Bai and Ningwu are well-known cultivation families within Rikui Kingdom and are resounding names across the whole continent, sometimes even in other continents you can hear their names on people's lips. During our war with Tianan, they were great contributors to our victory, it's actually a stalemate but people see it as an end to war even though it's temporary since the other side never signed anything. Though they are not in any military position, they are given special privileges due to their contribution and are named as part of the Emperor's Court. However, they never interfere in state matters. In all the years they have held that special position, they have never supported nor fought against national policies and they have even started to not attend Morning Court. However, no one is complaining because their contribution and power is still fresh in everyone's minds. And with one less pair of ministers that might agree to the other side's argument, the better it is for them. Though because they have never budged from their neutral position in all these years, there are also ministers that think they were a waste of floor space since they didn't present any arguments for either side, which they saw as the purpose of the Morning Courts. Despite being laden with heaps of military medals, the two families have always been lowkey and their young masters are also not ones to be arrogant, though the branch families might be less disciplined. I heard the reason the two families got along so well was because there was a marriage some point in their ancestry after each family was developed that joined the two families by blood. Though the current young masters make it look like the Ningwu family is subordinate while the Bai family is their superior, that's actually not the case. Despite the many generations since the marriage, the two families have upheld good relationships on equal ground."

"It's just that the Bai family young master isn't one to talk much and, being his childhood friend, the Ningwu fmaily's young master feel a certain personal obligation to help him assimilate with the rest of society as much as possible with his deadpan face and attitude of words cost more thna yuan." Shen Tianyu had already inferred that from their interaction during the day but what he said reaffirms her thought. However, everythign that Rong Jian had said was in their database so there wasn't any new useful information. 'Though the marriage between the two families sound like it went well so a better ending to Romeo and Juliet so that's good.' She thought to herself. "Anything else?"

"The two members that were there during our war with Tianan are still alive and are currently serving as Heads of their respective families. I heard they're trying to pass a rule in both families that the potential Heads of each family should be sworn brothers on the grounds that it'll halt or slow down the deterioration of relationships between the two families in the future. Though the other elders are hesitant about the new rule, the two young masters have already exchanged wine cups and the vows of brotherhood. A lot of this is just rumors and speculations floating around though the part about the new rule is definitely true." Rong Jian continued, not commenting on her earlier interruption nor showing any signs he minded.

"Hm... I've definitely heard about the new rule that the two of the Heads are trying to pass but I didn't hear about the two young masters exchanging vows. I heard the two Heads want that rule implemented because they are sworn brothers and that before their sworn brotherhood, the relations between the two families was already starting to break apart." Shen Tianyu filed that new piece of informtaion away for further investigation if necessary.

"That's right." Rong Jian confirmed her information about the current Heads and the relations of the two families before them. "They probably think their brotherhood was what mended their relationships with each other's families so they're trying to pass this tradition down."

"But that's not really a good idea." Shen Tianyu sighed. "Things like sworn brotherhood are only effective if both, or all, parties willingly do it. If it's a family requirement, it beceomes more of a shackle than a treasured bond. Even if the current generaton of young masters have no problem with it, future generations will just see it as a chore because they're not doing it out of their own will. It might actually serve to deteriorate relations further by adding one more thing they can blame each other for." She stretched her arms and put them behind her head.

"Oh... is that so? I initially thought it was a good idea but now that Wifey says this..." Rong Jian reassessed his stance on the matter they have moved to discussing.

"Human relationships can never be forced. A forced relationship is nothing more than a fragile fake. A real relationship is built in trust and understanding in each other and affections that goes both ways. Something like a forced brotherhood will just make them drift further apart because why try to understand each other if you're going to be tied to each other anyways." Shen Tianyu easily pointed out the problems in their wsy of thinking without much effort.

"Then the elders..." Rong Jian trailed off because he thought the elders thought of that but if that was so, it should have convinced the two Heads and they would have dropped the idea.
