Shen Tianyu then slowly sat up, letting her legs fall off the couch and leaned over to pick up the bamboo tube of pills. She pulled the plug off and dumped the contents into her mouth without hesitation and took off the lid of the porcelain cup. As she brought it to her lips, she hummed to signify that she was pleased the water was the right temperature and dranka few mouthfuls to down the painkillers. She then turned to find Wu Linghao still standing at the curtained windows and frowned. "What are you still doing here? Go get Rong Jian."

"Ah, yes! I mean, yes." Wu Linghao was startled and accidentally shouted like he normally did but immediately remembered she was unwell and couldn't handle loud noises so he reiterated his answer in a softer tone. He almost ran out of the room, being careful to not make any loud noises as he closed the door.

"So noisy." Shen Tianyu commented once he was gone, as she srubbed her temple as was her habit whenever she had a headache. Thankfully, the painkillers were quickly kicking in so she didn't have to suffer having her brain trying to explode out of her skull like Zeus when Athena was born, at least for a few shichen. "Why do you even like him?" She asked the man laying opposite her.

"Hey!" He protested in a low voice. "He's nice and good at taking care of others okay? And he's nice... and good-looking... and funny and-"

"Okay, okay. I shouldn't have asked you. You're obviously biased." She held a hand out to stop him but put it back, seeing that he had his eyes closed and wouldn't see her action.

"Am not..." He grumbled as he turned over, his back facing her. "Besides, aren't you getting married?"

"Yeah. But I'm not as biased as you are." She snorted but winced when a sharp pain shot through her head at the action.

"You're just cold-hearted. Anyone that's seriously fallen in love would think the good outweighs the bad in their chosen person." He pouted from his couch.

Shen Tianyu sighed to herself as she got up. "Maybe I am." She steadily walked towards the desk to gather up all the documents and separate them into their respective piles, putting their finished proposal at the center. It was placed upside down, facing away from the chair so she could easily identify it later and hand it to Rong Jian to read over.

After a while of not talking, Shen Tianyu heard soft breathing from the occupied couch. she looked over and found it's occupant asleep. "He told me not to fall asleep but he fell asleep himself." She jeered to herself as she went to the closet on the right side of the room, right next to the desk and opposite the kitchen. She pulled it open gently, trying not to make any sound and rummaged through it, finally emerging with a narrow but long blanket. She then walked to the couch with the blanket tucked in her arms and carefully put it over Yanmen Mengxiao. She then walked back to the closet and quietly closed the door. Walking back to the desk, she picked up the proposal and walked out of the room, making sure to not disturb the sleeping man as she closed the wooden door.

When she turned around, she saw a servant approaching her and the room, balancing two trays of food in her hands. She tucked the papaers she was holding under her arms as she walked over and took one of the trays off the girl's hands who wasw too distracted to notice her. Noticing that her load had lightened, the servant girl looked up to find Shen Tianyu holding the tray with a bunch of papers clamped by her arms to her side. seeing the girl open her mouth, Shen Tianyu shifted the tray to one hand and held a finger up to her lips, signaling for the other to be quiet.

"Ah, um... I was told to bring a light breakfast by the Vice-Manager..." The servant girl dropped her voice down to a whisper.

"I'll take one tray, the Manager is sleeping so you can take the other tray back. You can give it to someone else or eat it yourself, but make sure not to waste the food, okay? He'll probably call for food once he wakes up." Shen Tianyu whispered to match the other girl. The servant girl nodded and bowed, still holding one tray in her hand and walked back the way she came. Shen Tianyu watched her go bvefore she took the stack of papers from under her arms. Holding a stack of papers in one hand and a tray of food in the other, she walked down the stairs to the Main Lounge and randomly sat down at a table. As she waited for Wu Linghao and Rong Jian to come, she ate her breakfast as she read over the proposal to find any mistakes before having it checked by their personal political expert. The light breakfast consisted of some thick porridge, enough to fill the stomach but not heavy enough to potentially upset it, and a stick of youtiao 1 . She could taste the coriander, garlic chives, dried shrimp and scallions. They added enough ingredients to mask the taste of ginger enough that she didn't find it spicy. Thankfully, despite being up without rest for five whole days, both Yanmen Mengxiao and her brains had been focused enough to clearly spell out everything about the new policy and how it was to be carried out. She nodded to herself as she read through the papers, proud of not messing up wordings and ideas throughout what seemed to be a ten-page report. God, she never thought she needed to do another report again in her life and oh how wrong she was. At least this one was useful, unlike the other reports she always wrote for her grades only to be forgotten and thrown away before the semester even ended.

Just as she finished reading the stack of papers, she heard the large front door open to the unintentional yell of Wu Linghao. "Why are you down here, Mistress?" The place was large and spacious after all so shouting was the only way to be heard form the front door when she was sitting near the back. The loud noise still grated on her nerves though and she could feel her heacdache creeping back. She was itching to grab something to throw at him but decided to hold back because Rong Jia was there right next to him and she didn't want to hit him in case Wu Linghao dodged. She merely made an expression of annoyance with her whole face, hoping that the other would see it and shut up until he was closer. She saw him clap his hand over his mouth and bowed his head, walking over to her with tense shoulders. Rong Jian followed behind with a worried look in his eyes.

"I've brought Zhu Wangye Mistress." Wu Linghao lowered the volume of his voice as he told her.

"Mn. Mengxiao is asleep." She replied curtly as she eyed Rong Jian who standing behind Wu Linghao and lightly waved her stack of papers. Unlike some other people, she put the papers in a neat stack as she read them instead of spreading them across the table so she didn't need to gather them all up again. Incidentally, she had finished her breakfast by drinking the porridge straight out of the bowl so she didn't have to look away and find where she left off.

Wu Linghao bowed to the two of them and scurried off and Shen Tianyu stood up. "Let's go to a meeting room." When she saw the man eye her tray of empty bowls and plates, she added. "The servants will know to clean it up." Before she walked away and up the stairs again.

"You guys have meeting rooms?" Rong Jian questioned as he followed right behind her.

"No, we have drawing rooms." She filled the sentence with sarcasm and rolled her eyes but the other couldn't see. "Of course we have meeting rooms, we're technically a business. Didn't you enter one when you came to the Lavender Palace in Nang Zhou asking to buy information?"

"Ah yes, I remember that but most of my interactions with the other branches were either in the Lounge or in the Manager's Offices so I just assumed the one in Nang Zhou was the only one with meeting rooms." He replied as they walked down a hallway and stopped at a room decorated with white roses. The white rose motif spanned across three rooms and this particular room was at the very end of the hallway, the last room. Shen Tianyu pushed open the doors of the room, which opened inwards and stepped aside, gesturing for the man to walk in before she stepped inside and closed the doors. After securing the door with the wooden bolt, or rather Rong Jian did because he rushed over to do it when she reached for it, she walked to the middle of the room where a round table was placed with a multitude of chairs surrounding it. She put the stack of papers she had been holding onto the table and sat down, gesturing with her hands yet again for Rong Jian to do the same. "Please, Zhu Wangye."
