Shen Tianyu was originally named Xuan Lingwen and grew up in a single parent household. Though her mother was poor and had to work multiple jobs, they were a happy family despite the financial difficulties. Though it was those same financial difficulties and the glimpses of her mother when the other was alone that implanted her desire to earn money at an early age. She figured if she was able to reach a high level at a young age, she'll be able to save on school costs through scholarships and she can also work without having to worry too much about her grades ince she was of age. Eventually, her mother did find another person to be with, a good man in her eyes who loved and took care of her mother. She and her siblings were almost a decade apart but she still took care of them the best she could when her parents weren't around. At a mere age of 15, she started her own business with a good neighbors of hers that she had known since she was little. The only major difference being that the other's mother never found a good man for herself and died from a drug addiction she had gotten into out of depression. Shen Tianyu's, or rather Xuan Lingwen at the time, mother had sheltered the boy in their household for a short time before he was able to safely walk outside again. Xuan Lingwen saw immense potential in the boy but because of his situation, he was unable to graduate from working at the local supermarket chain. So, she called him over one day and pitched the business idea she had been formulating for a decade in her mind when she wasn't busy studying, doing chores, or taking care of her younger siblings. Amazed at the intricacies of the idea and not able to find a single hole, the man, Kurama, had agreed. Though she figured a part of it might have been because of the gratitude he still held for the mother and daughter pair for sheltering him all those years ago. The founder of the company was supposed to be her and she would take over that position when she was of age, meanwhile, he was in charge of managing the small company in her place and executing her ideas. Knowing that he would be doing the majority of the work, she had repeatedly offered to have him named President but he always refused and kept his place as Vice-President. With the money coming through from the company that eventually became an international company with branches in almost every developed country, Xuan Lingwen was less tense than before about money. Her mother's new boyfriend and husband did indeed have a stable income but one can never be too safe. Besides, they were raising three kids, technically two and a half because Xuan Lingwen could take care of herself just fine excluding having an income.

With the possible money problem out of the way and having learned things in grades way past her age, she finally focused her attention on socializing for the first time in her life in high school. She did have acquaintances she knew since her preschool days but they never became real friends because she was busy up until then helping her mother and trying to learn materials that far outclassed herself. She first reconnected with those acquaintances in the first year of high school before going on to make more friends. Apparently she was very popular and a great leader because she became Student Council President her sophmore year when one of her former acquaintance and now friends encouraged her to run for it. The slightly more relaxing high school life was thrown into disarray now that she had to manage the Student Council on top of her chores at home and co-managing her small business. But thinking that it would look good on her resume when she applied to colleges, she went with it. Despite how busy she had anticipated it to be, she actually had less work than she expected and besides the monthly meetings with the other committees and little paperwork, she usually had nothing to do. Which led her to, maybe abusing her power and, finishing her homework way before it was due in the Student Council room. She already knew the material anyways so sitting through a lecture going over the same topic would just make her fall asleep. And this way, she had more freetime for herself to do more of her own things that needed to be done. She made quite a number of friends during her high school career, some of which became her lifelong friends that she would share her troubles and happiness with. One particular one was Bai Yaoxuan, a neighbor that had went to the same preschool and every other school with her. She was an upbeat girl that wore her heart on her sleeves and was bad at lying. Despite not knowing much about Xuan Lingwen aside from her studiousness and her occassional humor, she readily accepted her into her friend group and even became the best of friends, to the point that they called each other sister when they weren't related at all.

After graduating college, she took up her mantle as the founder and President of her company that was now starting to become a world contender without any fanfare. She never did like those kinds of celebrations and deemed them a waste of money. Only a few of her close friends, including Bai Yaoxuan, knew that she was the president of the up and coming company everyone was talking about. When they heard about it, they were all quiet for a solid three minutes befpore the news sunk in and they burst into different kinds of reactions. A few were disbelieving, some were excited, another batch started crying and another few went down on their knees and started spouting nonsense about creating a religion with her as the goddess. The company had been around for a few years now so her being the founder meant that she had founded the company that many years ago when everyone was worrying about which high school to go to and whether they should confess to their crush. The few that kneeled down on the floor of her cramped apartment, she was living by herself after all what was the point of an expensive apartment building, started calling her a once in a century genius and almost kissed her feet in worship before she drew back and warned that she will kick them in the face if they don't stop.

Now that she had taken up her position, certain things were expected of her as a member of society and a woman. However she never had the time to dabble in romance and the only examples she had were of her early childhood when her mother would sometimes have a mental breakdown because she couldn't handle the stress of being a single mother with an irresponsible father that she never knew the face of despite him being alive, and her later relationship with her now husband. Neither of which, she realized, were suited role models for someone in their early twenties with the former not being a good role model at all. Enlisting her best friend's help, Bai Yaoxuan giddily agreed and set up a date with one of their acquaintances that was also looking.

The man and her did get together but broke up a short while after because she was practically always working and when she refused to give up her job when the topic of marriage came up, he... felt his maculinity was threatened. After all, he was an ordinary salaryman while she was the President of a quickly expanding company. Add to that she never mixed personal and professional relationships, he got more and more unsatisfied with her. Even her friends she knew since high school, heck even Bai Yaoxuan, had to go through the proper steps if they wanted to get hired. She would never help someone professionally out of their personal relationships because she believed that was looking down on the other's potential and she never wanted to hire someone only to have them be completely useless, since that would also sour their personal relationship. Seeing that the match ended in, pretty much, a disaster with how much he had slandered her near the end of their relationship, Bai Yaoxuan tried to comfort her and promised to find a better man for her. She never had real feelings for the man so the comfort was unecessary though. That promise was delayed though as Bai Yaoxuan was swept off her feet by another man. Happy for the woman, Xuan Lingwen didn't bring up the promise again.

If people pressured her, she could just say that she was emotionally scarred and needed time to recover. There was enough evidence to back up that excuse anyways. As Bai Yaoxuan was dating the other man, she eventually remembered her promise and introduced the man's brother to Xuan Lingwen. "If we both married them, we really would be related then!" She had said with a wide smile on her face.
