The man and her did get together but broke up a short while after because she was practically always working and when she refused to give up her job when the topic of marriage came up, he... felt his maculinity was threatened. After all, he was an ordinary salaryman while she was the President of a quickly expanding company. Add to that she never mixed personal and professional relationships, he got more and more unsatisfied with her. Even her friends she knew since high school, heck even Bai Yaoxuan, had to go through the proper steps if they wanted to get hired. She would never help someone professionally out of their personal relationships because she believed that was looking down on the other's potential and she never wanted to hire someone only to have them be completely useless, since that would also sour their personal relationship. Seeing that the match ended in, pretty much, a disaster with how much he had slandered her near the end of their relationship, Bai Yaoxuan tried to comfort her and promised to find a better man for her. She never had real feelings for the man so the comfort was unecessary though. That promise was delayed as Bai Yaoxuan was swept off her feet by another man. Happy for the woman, Xuan Lingwen didn't bring up the promise again.

If people pressured her, she could just say that she was emotionally scarred and needed time to recover. There was enough evidence to back up that excuse anyways. As Bai Yaoxuan was dating the other man, she eventually remembered her promise and introduced the man's brother to Xuan Lingwen. "If we both married them, we really would be related then!" She had said with a wide smile on her face. In order to assauge the other's worries and to potentially satisfy her desire to legally be related because the feelings were mutual, she dated the man. Things were going well at first and the topic of marriage was even starting to pop up in their conversations sometimes. Bai Yaoxuan was already engaged to the man's brother but Xuan Lingwen still did not develop any feelings towards the person she was dating. She did indeed want to be legally related to her best friend that she calls her own sister but a relationship without feelings from both parties would just end in disaster, she was sure of it. She talked to her non-blood-related sister about the possibility of being asexual since she had never felt sexual attraction to anyone for as long as she could remember. The latter encouraged her to split up with the man if she still didn't have feelings of love towards him after such a long time of dating, despite her disappointment at not being able to be relatives. And so, being as inexperienced as she was in the field of love as she was, she did as her best friend told her to and broke up with the man. Little did she know at that time, the man was different than other men and that this would be the first mistake in her life.

The man was peaceable enough to end the relationship without any fuss, unliek ehr previous boyfriend so she thought things would go well. Unexpectedly, the man started dating her friends within her close circle whom she almost always met so she always saw him. At first, she just thought he had been interested in them and started to date them. However, as time went by, she realized he was always jumping from one to the other, never leaving her circle of close friends and once he had dated all the women, he proclaimed to be bisexual and even tried going after the men. Most of which rejected his advances and this also raised a red flag in her mind. It wasn't strange for someone to have a midlife awakening of their sexual orientation, she was open-minded enough to acknowledge that, but what was most suspicious was that he never left her circle of friends since they broke up. And when she asked around, it seemed that it was always her friends who broke up with him and he was always peaceful about it. An idea started to form in her mind, that the man actually didn't have feelings for any of the people he had dated in her circle. Either that or he was really distant towards his feelings. So then, why did he date them? And why wasn't he leaving her circle of friends? He may have gotten along with them when he was dating her but never close enough to be totally incorporated into the group. She had met some of his friends before so it wasn't like he had no friends. And it just so happens that every time someone broke up with him, he would immediately start talking with another of her friends and wait for the same amount of time until he suggested they start dating. Every time her friends and her met up, he'd beg to be taken along and would always try to subtly flirt with her. Xuan Lingwen told her sister about the seemingly suspicious behavior and she, to her surprise, wasn't brushed off. The girl had been so enarmored with her fiance, she was sure she would try to defend her brother-in-law, though she was hoping her feelings wouldn't cloud her judgement. Bai Yaoxuan may be straightforward but she wasn't dumb, contrary to popular beliefs about upbeat and straightforward girls. Xuan Lingwen would never associate with dimwits.

"I think it's suspicious. I mean, he said he was looking for a life partner so he should be looking outside right? And not just sticking to a group of friends. Even though all the breakups are peaceful, it doesn't mean the other friends won't hold biased feelings towards him." Bai Yaoxuan had reasoned.

"I think so too... And all the breakups have the same format too. Breakup, flirt with someone else, wait and then date. He's started going after the guys in our group too. When we were dating, he said he was heterosexual and all the girls said the same thing too, even the latest girl he dated." Xuan Lingwen had provided.

"Also... my fiancee has been asking more and more... concerning questions." Bai Yaoxuan narrowed her eyes.

"What kind of questions?"

"He started asking about how your company was founded and how it works and how you intend to pass on ownership. He's also started hinting at me to butter up to you more? Which is strange because we're already pretty close... Do you think...?" Bai Yaoxuan didn't finish the sentence but both of them could see the rest of the sentence in each other's eyes and they both had come to the same conclusion.

"So they're both in it together. Then, you should start asking if he'd share the company with you and his brother if he did manage to obtain it. I'll see what I can do on my end. Hopefully, they start fighting and leave us alone. They haven't actually done anything illegal yet, unfortunately, so we can't take this to court." Xuan Lingwen whispered, as if afraid to be heard.

"Okay. You notify the others to be careful too." Bai Yaoxuan nodded.

Xaun Lingwen went on to notfy her other friends while paying for a private detective to investugate the background of the two brothers. Unfortunately, even after going through multiple private detrectives, the reports came in clean. The two brothers had no previous criminal activity and they came from normal families with no connections to shady businesses. She had also notified security in her office building that her second ex-boyfriend was no longer allowed inside the company building for further measures. At some point, Bai Yaoxuan had broken her engagement with her fiancee, who then tried to use the same tricks as his brother to keep himself inside their circle. However, everyone already knew what was happening so he was unsuccessful.

Close to her last days, she could sense an ominous cloud looming overhead and started writing future plans she had for the company and her will, including who would inherit the company should anything happen to her, just in case she couldn't escape the danger she could sense was coming. Though they weren't allowed inside the building, the former fiancee and ex-boyfriend would loiter around the doors. At first, some of the office ladies were charmed by their sweet talking but as soon as the guards told the workers that they were security risks, they started talking among each other and learned that everyone was being fed the same kind of lies and soon no one in the office paid them any attention either, being sure to steer clear of them. They couldn't be put behind bars since they weren't really doing anything major and Xuan Lingwen was afraid that having them arrested for a short time would further aggrevate them so she cautiously decided to let them be. This was, perhaps, the second and most deadly mistake.
