He quickly dropped his gaze again and answered his superior's question. "Re-Reporting ot Master... The Xiaoyao Sect has started to move."

"Them?" Rong Jian squinted his eyes as he started walking faster towards his study.

"Yes. Jie Cheng has just come back and is waiting in the study, Your Highness." The servant replied as he scurried to catch up.

"I understand. You can go do your own duties now." Rong Jian waved off the man without any change in expression. The eunuch hurriedly skittered away, afraid that staying a second longer would incur his employer's wrath.

When Rong Jian entered his study, instead of finding his faithful shadow kneeling on the ground, he found the other lying on the ground with blood slowly seeping onto the carpet. He furrowed his brows as he put his hand into his Cosmos Bag he always kept at his waist. "What are you doing reporting here? You should be seeking medical treatment. You're staining the carpet. What would Wangfei think if she saw this?" He reprimanded as he took put a porcelain bottle. Tapping it against his palm, a pill fell into his hand and he unceremoniously shoved it into the mouth of the man lying on the floor of his study.

"M-Master..." Jie Cheng tried to take a breathe only to be hit with a coughing fit that took even more energy out of him.

The frown in Rong Jian's brows deeped as he went to his table and poured a cup of water, bringing it back to the man. He held the other up by the waist and fed him the water from the cup. "Wait until your injuries are better before tlaking. With the state you're in right now, you won't be able to deliver a decent report." He scoffed before lifting the man up and threw him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He would only ever be gentle with his chosen women, even a subordinate wa sno exception. Carrying the man like this, he went over to his lampstand and pushed it down. He then went to his bookcase and pressed one of the books, which stayed there like an indentation was behind the bookcase. He then walked to the wall right behind his desk and pushed a one of the panels. The two men then heard a low rumble as the bookshelf slowly slid to the side, revealing a hidden staircase.

Jie Cheng didn't utter even anoise of complaint as he was being lugged around the room like a sack of produce and proceeded to keep silent as his master carried him into the hidden staircase. They arrived shorlty in a stone room and Rong Jian gently threw Jie Chang on the plain bed that sat in the middle of the room. The temperature was much cooler than outside, above ground. With it being winter, the room was cold enough for one to feel it in their bones.

Directly facing the entrance of the room was another, more well-defined, door that had no door handles. On the left of where Rong Jian was standing was another door, this one made of metal, which almost melded into the stone of the room. There was no ventilation space within the room, no windows or even barred slots.

Rong Jian wrinkled his nose at the room as he stood there. "The air curculation is bad in here. And it's cold." He then reached into his Cosmos bag again and produced a fire crystal, setting it at the head of the bed, right next to the pillow.

"This! This subordinate is not worthy..." Jie Cheng objected but couldn't move due to his injuries.

"Just shut up and take it. We have a heating system so it's not like it's being used anyways." Rong Jian sniffed before he took out another bottle of pills and placed it on the other side of the pillow. "Take the medicine. Heal fast and report to me." He snapped shortly before he turned and walked away without listening to the other man's response.

He stopped at the top of the now dark stairs and groped the wall. The door had slide close once they had entered. It was an annoying but necessary function, in his opinion, in order to maximize the security of the place. He pushed one stone panel after another in a practiced manner before he heard the familiar rumbling. As the bookshelf slid away to let the inhabitant outside, light spilled into the staircase, though only enough to barely light the way after three footsteps. He walked out and the door automatically closed behidn him again. He walked over to his desk and went back to work on the documents he was perusing before. Wu Linghao and Yanmen Mengxiao had been able to take notes during their discussionand the former had compiled them while the latter was busy writing the proposal with Shen Tianyu and had sent it over. He needed to be caught up and understand the contents of the proposal in order to argue their case in court after all.

...

Shen Tianyu woke up feeling groggy but no longer in pain. "Ugh... I slept too much... I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight..."Immediately after saying that, she let out an uncontroollable yawn. 'Body of mine, are you still sleepy or not?' She wanted to ask her body but unfortunately, she was unable to.

Looking out the circular window behind her desk, the light that had been streaming in all day was dimmed, but not gone signaling to the newly awakened woman that it was evening. Only after noting the time did she hear a growl from under the blankets. Holding a hand over her empty stomach, she lifted the blankets on her and stepped onto the floor.

"Miss, are you awake now?" She heard a young voice, presumably the Assistant Head Maid.

"Mn. Is dinner ready yet?" She asked as she got up and dressed herself in outer robes that were warm and comfortable. Her room was decently warm but the outside wasn't.

"Yes. But Wangye is busy with paperwork so he regrets to inform Miss that he is unable to join you for dinner." The Assistant Head Maid said from the other side of the screen.

Shen Tianyu lifted an eyebrow but didn't object. "Is that so?" She merely replied absentmindedly as she finished dressing and tying her hair in a simple bun, the one hairstyle she had managed to excel at in this world. "Then bring dinner over here." She added before she stepped out from the behind the screen.

"Yes, Miss." The Assistant Head Maid replied as she retreated without lifting her head.

"Wait. where's the Head Maid?" Shen Tianyu asked with a frown as she looked around the living room and didn't see any sign of the old woman.

The Assistant Head Maid visibly tensed but quickly relaxed her posture as she bowed lower. "Answering Miss, senior is old and is unable to work for long so she has retired for the day. If Miss has any orders, please call this humble one."

The sudden tenseness didn't escape Shen Tianyu's eyes but she didn't comment on it, opting to wave the other away to bring in dinner. Hopfully, it wouldn't be porridge. Though porridge was delicious, it was not as filling as solid food. She went back behind her screen and sat down in a lotus position on her bed. She then closed her eyes and entered her space.

She successfully landed at the Wind Shrine, having not visited the space in qalmost over a month. When she had visited as she traveled, it was always short visits to check up on her spiritual pet.

"Xue Lang, how are you doing?" She asked as she walked towards the inside of the shrine. The wolf spiritual pet she had contracted was laying flat on the floor in the middle fo the shrine. It's prior injuries had all healed and it's fur coat was unblemished, white as snow, just like his species name suggested.

Not getting a response, Shen Tianyu walked closer and kneeled down, peeking at the wolf as she laid flat on the ground like the other. The wolf had it's eyes closed and still didn't respond. "Xue Lang, are you angry? I already told you I would be busy and won't be able to visit you for a while... don't be angry okay?" She coaxed to no effect. She then tried another method. "You're a wolf not a rabbit, you can live without affection for a while, you won't die."

"Who said I was a rabbit?! Don't compare me to a puny rabbit!" The wolf barked angrily in her mind as it quickly got up and tried to puff it's coat, attempting to make itself look more intimidating. The huamn that was still lying on the ground just stared at it withou a hint of fear. Her then broke into a smile and she let out a light laugh.

"You finally looked at me! You shouldn't be so angry, you know? Ange ris bad for your health." She chuckled as she sat up.

"That's only true for you humans." The wolf humphed and smoothed down it's fur coat, sittin gback on it's hind legs.
