" Hm. I'll put your food in another bag and have Rong Jian check up on her. " She nodded her head as she put the bag of food back into her Cosmos Bag.

Just as she settled back into her original position, there came a knock on the wooden doors again.

"Miss. I've brpught a second portion of food." The assistant Head Maid announced as she stood outside the door.

"Come in." Shen Tianyu replied simply. When the girl entered, the former gestured to the empty bowls on the try in front of her. "I finished eating. I was more hungry than I thought, thank you."

"It's no trouble at all." The girl put down the tray she was holding in front of Xue Lang. Unlike Shen Tianyu's trya though, it merely contained a big plate with a slab of meat with a big bowl of water next to it. She smiled as she bent down to clean up the tray on the table. Not that there was anything to clean since nothing was messy. As she leaned down, she let her face twitch into a frown but when she straightened her back, with the tray in hand, she was smiling again. "I'll come back to collect the plates again when Miss's guest is done."

"Alright. I'll be going back to rest then." Shen Tianyu nodded and smiled as if nothing was wrong and watched as the girl left the room, closing the door behind her. She then dropped her smile and looked down at Xue Lang with a questioning expression. "You eat raw meat?"

" Of course I eat raw meat, I used to be a demonic beast you know. " Xue Lang snapped back at her. " Though all the meat I eat had at least some spiritual power in it and I even ate plants sometimes. I can't believe she gave me a slab of ordinary meat from some run of the mill farm animal. " It poked the slab of meat on the plate with the tip of it's furry paws in disgust before turning it's head away.

" Okay, okay. I'll put in in a bag now, since it'd be a waste to put all this in a Cosmos Bag. " She chuckled as she pulled out another, regular, bag from the Cosmos Bag at her hip and a porcelain bottle. She picked up the slab of meat with her bare hands and threw it into the bag with a face displaying revulsion. She even wiped her hand on the bag after she had sealed it. She then opened the porcelain bottle and tried to pour the water into it. However, the bottle was too small and the mouth of the bowl was too big so a lof of it spilled back onto the tray. She resealed the porcelain bottle and placed it in her Cosmos Bag before she dusted her clothes of imaginary dirt and walked behind the screen again.

" When is that woman coming over again? " Xue Lang asked as it got up from it's sitting positiona dn followed her.

" Probably in a little while. She waited a long time to bring in the second portion when it was so simple. She's probably biding her time to see if and when the poisonous Lingzhi mushrooms will take effect. " She replied as she opened the cupboard closet below her bed. She rummaged through it for a bit before coming back up with a fur coat in her hands.

" Still. I'm surprised she had the galls to put in poisonous Lingzhi mushroom juice in your food. " The wolf contemplated as it watched her.

" Hm? Is it surprising? " She asked as she put the coat on over her current clothes. Lingzhi mushrooms were famous for their healing abilities and the harsh conditions of purity required for them to grow, making them scarce. A lot of high-tier internal medicine requried some part of a Lingzhi mushroom, which made it hard for physicians to become famous. After all, even if you had the recipe, if you don't have the ingredients, the recipe for the medicine was nothing more than a scrap of paper. The medicines requiring Lingzhi mushrooms, which ranged from cures for ulcers to healing decades old internal injuries, were concentrated in the hands of the powerful sects and orginazations. If they couldn't make use of the recipe, might as well sell it to powerful sects to curry favor and gain their protection. On the other hand, poisonous Lingzhi mushrooms were usually found near demonic forests or places where a powerful demonic beast resided. Unlike normal Lingzhi mushrooms that needed pure environments untouched by miasma and demonic beasts, Poisonous Lingzhi mushrooms thrived in the exact opposite conditions. Poisonous Lingzhi mushrooms looked very similar to regular Lingzhi mushrooms and this variation was only discovered after it was mistaken for the former and caused a death when it was used to make medicine. It didn't have a problem blending into medicine as Lingzhi mushrooms, since it technically was one, just of a more sinister variety. Unless someone was very acute in differentiating the two, they could be confused for each other very easily. That was another reason that recipes requiring Lingzhi mushrooms were in the hand sof big sects, who had the manpower and wisdom to differentiate the two. even when they couldn't they could use their power to suppress the "mistake". Families that were failing or were no longer powerful, did not have the resources to differentiate between them since most of those families birthed one genius wgho was either killed or ostracized by their relatives or were followed by an absolute fool who went astray, causing the knowledge of the genius to be lost. And honestly, it was easier to gain favor from a big power than trying to fight against the current and learn everything necessary to utilize that one or two recipes. No matter how unreliable the power actually was.

" I think it was a good choice on her part. She just underestimated my body's capabilities. " Shen Tianyu added as she ushered Xue Lang to come closer. Poisonous Lingzhi Mushrooms were often sold in the black market because it was a popular poison. Of course, unless it could be identified as such, it wouldn't be on sale, in case they could sell it to the big powers. The reason for it's popularity was that it's scent and taste were very hard to detect, almost nonexistent. And it could even injure a cultivator, causing them to bleed internally and tainting their dantian. The latter could result in a lasting injury on the dantian, the core and source of a cultivator's spiritual powers, which could lead to many unfavorable things for the unfortunate victim. This included a drop in cultivation, prevention of any further progress in the victim's cultivation, or in the worst case scenario, completely destroy their cultivation. It was a dangerous poison that all cultivator's feared, yet at the same time wanted. There isn't much liquid, known as juice, in the Poisonous Lingzhi Mushrooms but one could extract it by boiling the mushrooms, causing it to inflate a bit, and poking a small hole in it before squeezing the newly boiled mushrooms. It was less conspicuous than the actual Lingzhi mushroom and had the same effect.

" Anyways, lay on top of the bed, on top of the blankets. If she comes back before I return and looks, she won't suspect that I'm out. " Shen Tianyu patted the blankets she had layed over the whole bed.

" What if she asks me something or comes in to peek on me? " Xue Lang didn't have a problem resting here. His snow white form would be conspicuous among the grey, green and red of the residence.

" Just let out a low growl, she should back off. She's still showing me a polite smile when she thinks I'm looking so she won't go very far to offend me for now. " Shen Tianyu reasoned as she patted the blankets again. " Also, don't burrow below the blankets, because I'm coming back to sleep and I don't want to be surrounded by shed fur. " She added as Xue Lang climbed onto the bed with it's clean paws that had been washed inside the Wind Shrine. It hadn't walkled enough to get it dirty and the Wind Shrine was quite clean.

" I have no need to. Only you humans would be weak enough to be afraid of this kind of cold. " Xue Lang huffed before it let it's head fall on the topmost blanket.

Shen Tianyu smiled as she turned awya and quietly pushed open the wondow. she first opened a crack to make sure there wasn't anyone nearby before she threw it fully open. She then hopped out of it and closed the window so that it looked closed but in fact had a small gap so she could open it and climb back in when she was done with her matter. Again making sure no one was around, she jumped onto the room to survey her surroundings. It was now night and there were guards patrolling the whole residencce. Luckily, the closest pair of guards were two courtyards over. Shen Tianyu took one leap and landed on the wall surrounding her courtyard, right on top of the circular hole that served as the entrance to the place. She then jumped onto the wall surrounding Rong Jian's courtyard before taking a final leap onto the roof of the main building.
