Despite the amount of paperwork that had piled up, he was still able to go through them quickly when Shen Tianyu was busy with her own matters.

"The Head Maid has been with Wangye for so long, do you think we'll believe you if you say she made that decision?" The servant beside Zhu Wangye said, the volume of his vice back to normal now.

"That's really the case. That's really the case. You can't be partial to te Head Maid, ah! Pehaps she thought he has been here for so long and she has enough authority to decide these things." She answered, her head stilled but still in contact with the carpet of the floor.

"If you says so, then we can just call the Head Maid here to ask." The servant scoffed, finally showing some emotion.

"The Head Maid is sick so having her come here like this..." The Assistant Head aid hesitated, afraid that her excuse would be torn apart.

"Have Jie Sheng bring her in." Rong Jian spoke for the first time that was loud since the woman kneeling on the ground came in.

"Yes, Wangye." The man at his side respectfully dipped his head and turned towards the door that the Assistant Head Maid had come through. "Mister Jie Sheng, please bring the Head Maid here to testify."

"Yes." A gruff voice answered from outside. The Assistant Head Maid startled, but restrained herself from looking up. She hadn't notied anyone else nearby when she entered the main building.

The three people inside waited for the arrival of the fourth person to come back with the Head Maid. The Assistant Head Maid didn't dare to move at all, her head still pressed to the floor. The servant was also standing but he would occassionally lean down to advise or discuss something with Zhu Wangye. Zhu Wangye acted like there was no one else in the room and continued working on his papers. When he was about to be done with hsi pile, the servant walke to the side, where a smaller table was placed, and brought over another stack. The smaller table had no other accessories near it, no chairs or ink stone. It was merely there to put paperwork. It was only a little smaller than the desk that Zhu Wangye was sitting behind.

Being ignored made the Assistant Head Maid more and more nervous. Despite her earlier thoughts, she was currently very aware that she was not going to get her desired position so easily and soon. She should lay low so she doesn't get kicked out before she can achieve her objective.

Jie Sheng came back once Zhu Wangye was halfway through his second stack of paperwork. He knocked on the door. "Master, I have brought the Head Maid with me."

"Come in." Zhu Wangye spoke again, but still didn't look up from his desk.

The man outside pushed open the door and walked inside, holding the door open to let the person behind him inside. Only when the old woman entered did he close the doors behind him, standing guard at the door.

"Wangye, I have arrived." The Head Maid ooked over at the Assistant Head Maid on the ground who had her head on the floor and knelt down next to her. She bowed down onto the ground before straightening up. She seemed fine except for her pale face, which no one had seen before. If you paid attention, her eyes and cheeks were slightly sunken. Her hands were shaking very minutely despite her exerting control over herself to stop it.

"Head Maid, your Assistant claimed that you told her not to tell Wangye that you got sick and can't attend to the matters of the Inner Courtyard, is that true?" The servant standing beside Zhu Wangye was the one to speak again.

The Head Maid frowned momentarily as she looked at the young girl next to her but schooled her features. "Answering Gong-gong and Wangye, that is not true at all. I specifically told her to report to Wangye and recieve official permission tot take over the matters of the Inner Courtyard since there is already a woman that Wangye has brought back. By the rules, it should be the future Wangfei that takes over the work of the Inner Courtyard and the Head Maid or her Assistant is only supossed to assist in the management."

"What else do you have to say in your defense?" The servant responded with more cordiality than with the Assistant Head Maid. The old woman had followed their Wangye for so long and had outlasted most of the other women in the Zhu Wangfu so she was recognized by everyone as an old-timer with a good head on her shoulders. He also personally worked with her often through the decades so he thought he was very sure of her character. He was already pretty sure that it was the Assistant Head Maid that was involved in, or making up, some scheme in order to sabotage the other. However, being one of Wangye's close associates, he couldn't act willfully and cause the other to be angry. He even more couldn't afford to make a mistake in judgement and get rid of an honest worker in place of a wicked rascal.

"Gong-gong, Wangye. It really wasn't me. I never thought the girl I had cultivated for so many years and made into my assistant would accuse me of such disobedience against Wangye. Please investigate thoroughly gong-gong and Wangye." The Head Maid held her head high as she begged her master with fists clasped in fornt of her, still kneeling on the ground.

"Throw that one in the dungeons." Zhu Wangye ordered from his place at the table. In fact, Zhu Wangye had long made his decision before he even summoned the two women into his study. He had Jie Sheng look around in order to find something he could use to imprison a certain someone.

"Uh... Wangye, which one?" The servant leaned down and asked his master who spoke very few words. Zhu Wangye just glared at him from the side before he went back to work.

The servant cleared his throat and went with what he thought, sweat collecting in his palms. If he didn't make the right decision, he might be thrown in the dungeons too, on grounds of suspected collaboration with the offending party. But if he asked again, Zhu Wangye would be even more annoyed at him and he might even be demoted.

"Mi Chou is to be locked in the dungeons unless ordered otherwise by Wangye. anyone who tries to help her will be seen as an accomplice and imprisoned as well." The servant announced, peeking at his employer nervously when he was done. hu Wangye didn't look up nor say anything so he assumed he made the correct decision.
