Shen Tianyu took it with an accusing glare and wiped her hands with it. Instead of throwing it away immediately though, she held onto it with two fingers, waiting until she found a suitable place to throw it in.
Neither of them saw the face of the woman whose hand was slapped away, transforming from furious to shock and then horror before settling on heartbreak. The other people felt a little sympathy for her but no one came forward to comfort her in any way, merely turning back to their original positions and waiting to be let into the Store.
Surprisingly, there were less people within the shop than outside. When asked, the guards replied that Qiao Wangye wanted the patrons to shop in peace instead of being worried about a crowd and that was why there was a limit in the number of people allowed to be inside at a time. Not to mention, with crowds, there were bound to be more problems, such as accidental damage of products and pickpocketing. The couple dismissed the team of guard escorts, saying that they should be fine since they were cultivators. Even so, the first guard they met insisted that he should stay with them as protection, just in case. They didn't think it was much of a problem as long as there wasn't a whole train of people following them so they let him follow them. Rong Jian asked to see one of the Store attendants and the guard went to find one immediately. As they waited, Rong Jian tailed behind Shen Tianyu as she looked around the store.
"Wow, glass decorations. Were these made by the Royal Glassmaker?" Shen Tianyu stared at a set of colored glass decorations hung in a cupboard of one of the cabinets in the front of the store. Each glass piece looked like a raindrop and tied at together at the top with smaller raindrop-shaped glass pieces of different colors and shades along the strings. It seemed to be a wind chime.
"Wangye, Wangfei, you called for this humble servant?" As they were looking around the furniture section, the guard came back with one of the shop attendants.
"Show is to the VIP section for handwarmers and gloves." Rong Jian stood up straight and gently grasped Shen Tianyu's hand. She didn't completely reject it but settled on holding his fingers with her own. As they left the front of the store, Shen Tianyu took a glance at the right wing to find that it was stocked full of possible gifts. There were hairpins and snatchers for both men and women in addition to packaged candy for children, even a section selling cloth for house workers to make clothes with.
The shop attendant already knew who the couple was so there was no need to go through the usual procedures when customers asked to be shown the VIP section of the shop. He immediately obliged and urged them to follow him. The guard, being their escort for this visit was also allowed to follow along, though he was not permitted entry and would only be outside. The shop attendant led them through the shop and through a beautiful yard full of flowers and herbs, towards the back of the shop where another building was standing. The building itself was more luxurious than the store front, with a red-tiled roof, red and gold lanterns hanging from the eaves and a wooden name plaque painted over with red and gold. The door, however, was was held together by a metal chain with a lock at the end. The shop attendant pulled out a key from his waistband and bent down to open the lock. The guard got into position, standing beside the door and watching for suspicious characters or activity. The doors opened with a creak and the couple was led into the building.
The inside of the building was about as lavishly decorated as the outside hinted. There was silk draped across every cabinet, thick enough to obscure the objects on the cupboards but not enough to completely hide their shapes. There were golden tassels and carvings of various ferocious beasts including the four legendary beasts. The group of three walked past most of the cabinets, Rog Jian and Shen Tianyu didn't really look around in curiosity and merely followed the shop attendant. Since the items were covered, then they should not be seen by them. Besides, they can probably see them on the market somewhere if they wanted to. The shop attendant stopped in front of one cabinet when they were halfway through the building and bowed to them.
