"Did you eat yet?" Shen Tianyu asked as she reached into her Cosmos Bag.
"Hm... I don't believe I have, did Wifey bring me some food?" Roong Jian put his chin in his hands as he gazed at his future Wangfei ramaging through her Cosmos Bag.
"Yup, Yaoyao and I went out to eat! We even met Senior Brother Liushan and Young Master Bai." She put the box of food on the tea table on the side that she had sat at before. "Come here and eat your lunch."
Rong Jian got up with a smile on his masked face and walked to sit down on one of the chairs. After lating the lavish feast on the table, Shen Tianyu turned to leave.
"Where is Wifey going?" He asked as he sat down, calling for someone to bring two pairs of chopsticks.
"I already ate with Yaoyao and I'm not going to be going through your work documents." She replied with a raised eyebrow.
"Then just stay here and chat with me, eating by myself is so lonely." He patted the table since he couldn't reach the other chair.
Shen Tianyu gave a low chuckle but assented as she turned back and sat opposite him. The eunuch that had left before came back in carrying two pairs of chopsticks on their individual rests, on a tray. He silently placed them beside the couple and left just as quietly.
"So? You said you met the two Young Masters Ningwu and Bai but your mood doesn't seem too good, what else happened?"
A surprised expression flickered over Shen Tianyu's face. She then proceeded to knit her brows in contemplation. "Is that so obvious? How could you tell?"
"I've interacted with Wifey for so long and we're about to tie the knot, how could I not understand when your just putting on a facade? If I couldn't even tell this much, how would I dare to call myself worthy of you?"
"What gave it away?" She pressed on as she started to touch her face, thinking it was something wrong with her expression.
"Why are you so desperate to know? Do you intend to hide things from this husband?"
Hearing that question, Shen Tianyu was reminded of what she saw and heard within her and Bai Yaoxuan's private room at the restaurant. She forced down her hands and shook her head slightly. "No, it's nothing. I just met someone unpleasant."
Rong Jian stared at her, waiting for her to disclose who it was she met beside the two Young Masters.
"It was... Miss Yang, if I remember correctly. She's the Young Miss of the Right-winged General's Manor, right? Apparently, she's a big fan of you. Though I already knew that, it is indeed an eye-opener to see it myself. Anyways, we got into a small argument and I scared her off. Sorry about that, her father might come at you for this, seeing how pampered she was. Well, I guess something like that will happen sooner or later, even if you haven't met me."
"... Alright. But anyways, that was it." Shen Tianyu couldn't hold his gaze so she turned to the side.
"What could she have said for Wifey to actually start throwing hands? You usually stab back with words." Rong Jian didn't comment on her avoiding his gaze ad went back to eating.
Shen Tianyu snorted with her whole body, her shouders lifting up as if in a shrug. "The bitch dared to call Yaoyao a servant, in a degrading way too. Who the fuck does she think she is? Just some General's daughter dares to disdain my Yaoyao, I could wipe her off the face of the world for just that."
"Do you want me to take her case instead?" He asked wit slight worry in his tone.
"No, this just gives me more of a reason to deal with her. I'll keep on her case, you just concentrate on your work and that new policy. I want to start making some stuff."
"Alright, alright. Wifey's wish is my command."
After Rong Jian finished eating, he got back to work and Shen Tianyu left as the eunuch cleaned up the wooden boxes. When she entered her courtyard, Bai Yaoxuan was looking a her with expectant eyes as if waiting for juicy gossip, completely oppostie of what she looked like back at the restaurant.
"What are you looking at me like that for? Just so you know, we didn't do it on his desk or anything." She smirked at her.
"EW! Shut up, I don't want to hear about yout smutt life! I was just wondering if it progressed any!" Bai Yaoxuan waved her hand in front of her face as if chasing away a bad smell.
"Not really, my feelings wouldn't progress from such a small thing you know." She held back a laugh as she walked back into her building, with Bai Yaoxuan following after, making a face at her.
"I know but you guys are going to marry. You have to invest some feelings into it, otherwise, he'll get tired of showering you with affection. Relationships are two-way streets, you;re the one that always lectures me on this. You can't just marry him because he fits some criteris in your head, you have to actually have some feelings for him too." Bai Yaoxuan stressed as they sat on the table in the dining table with the doors closed.
"Oh but I can. You forget this isn't our old world anymore. Arranged marriages and marriages based on social status and personal criteria alone is very common here, especially among the nobility." Shen Tianyu quirked her eyebrow at the other.
Bai Yaoxuan let out a frustrated noise and flung her sleeves. "That's them, this is us! Even they have to have some feelings or the relationship wouldn't last and they'd be abandoned. Besids, we're not originally from here anyways so we have the mindset and understanding of what could happen if we do invest in some real emotions! We know what it's like, unlike those people."
