Behind the two, Rong Jian also bowed towards the old man sitting behind the table.
After being dismissed, the group of three left the quiet corner of the Headmaster's Office and headed back to the main road. Seeing the upbeat scenery made them relax.
"Ah... I was so nervous!" Shen Tianyu stretched as she looked around at the displays.
"What nervous. You were picture of calm and determined." Bai Yaoxuan smacked her arm playfully as her eyes sparkled.
"Where do you two wish to go now?" Rong Jian asked as he walked behind them, displaying only the slightest hint of relief.
"Um, I don't really care. Where do you want to go, Yaoyao?" Shen Tianyu turned to the girl walking beside her.
"Uh... I'm not really familiar with this place at all. We only have one day so how about we listen to Zhu Wangye's reccommendation?" Bai Yaoxuan threw the question back to Rong Jian.
"Alright. What are you two interested in seeing?" Since it was their first time here, he didn't want to just drag them around to the displays he was interested in.
"I'm planning to register in the Beast Taming Department and take some classes in Talismans and Arrays. I'm not planning on registering for the latter because my... uh... artistic ability is a bit... you know." She sheepishly turned and nodded at Bai Yaoxuan who almost broke into laughter.
"Certainly, your artistic ability is... not very good." Bai Yaoxuan's cheeks were puffed up from holding in her laughter.
"And um, I'm thinking of taking some classes in the Poison Stage to see if it fits me." Shen Tianyu was skeptical the knowledge taught in this School's Poison department would be of any use to her considering it took great care to emphasize fair competition and scorn underhanded methods. It might just teach about how to cure poison rather than teach about different properties of the ingredients. In which case, she knew more of than the instructors considering she was one of the leading brains in poison in Yaodu, an organization that actually used the knowledge in practice rather than cram it into brains in case.
"Alright. What about Miss Bai?" Both of them had explained the structure of Chengyuan School to Bai Yaoxuan already so she was able to keep up with their conversation.
"Um... I'm interested in the Sword Department and the Array and Talisman Department." She had been curious about the latter since she was told about it. As for the former, it's a basic necessity in this world. But, unfortunately, she had never learned to hold weapons back in her old world much less actually wield a sword so she definitely needed to learn.
"What about you?" Shen Tianyu asked him, not having heard any departments he was interested in.
"I'm also interested in the Talismans and Array department so it's perfect for me. As for the others, I'm not particularly interested since I've already seen their tricks." Rong Jian started leading the two women to the Cultivation Division to check out their interested departments.
"Yay, the Chengyuan School tour group is now assembled!" Shen Tianyu excitedly held up an imaginary flag as she followed her fiancee holding her giggling sister's hand.
The Talismans and Arrays department did not have many students and so their position within the students' minds wasn't very good even though the Elders treated each other more or less the same amicability. Therefore, it's exhibition was held a bit further from the main road than the Sword and Fist departments. Even so, there was a decent amount of interested parties were gathered around the front of the building. Such large one-story buildings were scattered all around the School, acting as the ancient equivalent of an indoor gym. Of course, there were outdoor stages too but the weather wasn't always cooperative. Plus, there were exhibitions held throughout the day by the departments and the more sheltered students would probably make a fuss if they were being burnt by the sun all day long.
"Oh? Senior Brother Liushan. And Young Master Bai." Shen Tianyu spotted the willowy youth and his distant cousin standing amidst the crowd waiting to enter the Practice Building 5 as the department's students set up the next exhibition.
Ningwu Liushan turned at the sound of his and his companion's names, giving an amicable smile. "Junior Sister Tianyu and Miss Bai." He nodded to them in greeting before turning to the young man standing in front of the two. "And I believe this is Zhu Wangye?"
"Young Master Ningwu. Young Master Bai." Rong Jian greeted formally as Bai Longtian turned around and graced him with a head bow.
"It's you two again." Was the greeting he sent to the two women, who didn't seem to mind at all. Or maybe they juts purposefully ignore him at this point.
"I didn't know Senior Brother Liushan was interested in the Talismans and Array Department." Shen Tianyu cocked her head, thinking they might as well chat as they waited.
"I think it's more unexpected for Junior Sister Tianyu to be interested in this department. Usually, people think it takes too long to show results so many don't really bother with seriously educating themselves on this topic." Bai Longtian looked like he wanted to bite back but held back his tongue, seeing Rong Jian standing beside Shen Tianyu, protectively shielding her from the crowd.
"Those sheltered young people are merely too impatient. Talismans and Arrays may take a while for the results to show but they are definitely more effective than short-term achivements like sword training." Shen Tianyu boldly stated what Ningwu Liushan had tried to skirt around.
"You're going to offend people, there are ears all around you." It was Bai Yaoxuan who warned her to be more careful with her words.
"But it's true." Shen Tianyu raised an eyebrow as she looked at Bai Yaoxuan from the corner of her eyes. She then jumped and hugged Rong Jian's arm, looking up at him with a sly smile. "Besides, Ah-Jian will protect me, right?"
"Mhm." Rong Jian merely made a sound of acknowledgement but didn't move to brush off Shen Tianyu.
