"The exhibition for the Talismans and Array department is now ready. Please get into line and filter in, in an orderly manner." He then stepped aside to guard the doors as the crowd tried to get themselves into order.
The group of five that had been chatting got in line, one in front of the other with the two Young Masters in front. Unlike what was expected, the to-be students were actually quiet and orderly, completely unlike what one would see back in Shen Tianyu's old world.
They continued chatting with one another, with Shen Tianyu doing most of the talking, as they waited to be let in. The inside of the Practice building was as spacious as it looked from the outside. It was designed in a concave shape, similar to the Roman coliseums with a large pit in the middle of the building acting as the stage. The pit was surrounded by high walls that was the height of five or more people. Above the walls was the stands, which took up the remaining space in the building with the tallest stands a mere few chi[1] from the ceiling. The space between the top seats and the celings were long, rectangular windows lining the wll to the point there was barely a finger's width between each one.
Luckily, Shen Tianyu's group was able to get a seat relatively close to the stage, about the third row from the walls surrounding the pit stage. When all the interested parties had settled inside the Practice Building, the Talismans and Array department began their demonstration. Students wearing the uniform of the Chengyuan School filed out, throwing light talismans as they came into view, which exploded in the air above them like miniature fireworks. They then activated an array that was already drawn in the ground, each staudent standing in a predetermiend location as they channeled spiritual energy into the array. The array formation lit up with blue spiritual energy, streaks of light flying from it to form a vague square shape right in the middle of the coliseum so people could see without having to strain their necks too much. A faint mist appeared in the middle of the blue square made from spiritual energy. The mist slowly solidified into a view of a forest. It then exploded, shocking those unfamiliar with this array like Bai Yaoxuan, and sprinkled into the crowd.
Bai Yaoxuan had no experience nor knowledge of arrays so she watched with wide eyes as the sparkles landed on the stands. Suddenly, trees started growing in the Practice Building along with grass and shrubbery that one would see in a forest. Of course, none of them hurt or got into the way of the spectators and if anyone tried to touch them, their hands would pass right through the very real-looking objects. The leaves and grass even waved in the breeze the flowed into the building from the windows at the top. Bai Yaoxuan eagerly pulled on Shen Tianyu's sleeves as she tried to "catch" a leaf from a tree that had sprouted right next to her.
"Look, look, Lingling! This is so cool!" She exclaimed as she giggled, trying to pluck a leaf form the tree despite knowinig in her head she wouldn't be able to.
Shen Tianyu smiled as she watched on, her hand holding up her chin in a bored posture even as her eyes twinkled in laughter. "Yes, it's very cool indeed. Aren't arrays amazing?"
Bai Yaoxuan made a sound in acknolwedgment. As the excitement of most of the crowd subsided, a new scenery appeared from the formation, this time of a prosperous-looking seaside town, since there were many colored pigments on the signs and the wealth of decorations splayed all over storefronts. After that was the main street of the capital and then various palaces within the Imperial Palace. None of the sceneries had living things, only inanimate objects like houses and bridges. Still, there were many in the audience captivated by the intricacies of the nonliving things, every crack and bend showing through.
Shen Tianyu, though not as amazed as most of the spectators, was still amused by the amount of scenery and detail the students were able to pull up. She was aware mainaining such a formation for young practitioners like students was quite draining as it took a long time to be able to fully grasp a formation so that spiritual energy didn't leak and could be reused within the array. And providing a new scenery was almost the same as reactivating the array all over again, which also required quite a bit of spiritual energy. Details not only required memory but also strength of will to maintain said design, making it especially hard when there are multiple people trying to keep up the illusion as memories can overlap if one wasn't careful.
When the exhibition was over, the spectators gathered back into their own groups and started talking excitedly about the spectacle they had just witnessed, before they even left the building.

"Hmph, none of you look excited. It makes me look stupid being the only one excited about it." Bai Yaoxuan pouted, folding her arms in front of her.
"That's not the case, Yaoyao is adorable no matter what she does~" Shen Tianyu proclaimed as she hugged the girl from the side.
"Shoo, you liar!" Bai Yaoxuan swatted the arms around her shoulders.
