It then flew around to showcase itself while it's human partner set up a giant ring perpendicular to the floor. The Firebird set the ring aflame and flew threw it, raising it's head at the end as if it was something to be proud of.
The exhibition by the Beast-taming department ended up being a not-so-impressive circus that barely showcased the results of their efforts. The more welathy children that had more than enough opportunities to watch these small tricks were not impressed in the least.
"That was boring... I thought they'd do something more exciting, like actually taming a demonic beast..." Bai Yaoxuan complained with a pout of her cheeks, staring at Shen Tianyu as if the other had offended her. It was Shen Tianyu's idea to check out the Beast-taming Department's exhibition after all.
"Hm. That was indeed subpar." Shen Tianyu agreed with a tired exhale. "However, the best benefit of beast-taming is having a tamed demonic beast, renamed a spiritual beast, fighting by your side. The benefit lies in their aid in a fight so it's hard to showcase that without hurting anyone. I'm sure none of the students would agree to have a full-on fight with their spiritual beasts on the Opening Day. If something untoward happens, it might affect their learrning for the rest of the year." She shrugged. It wasn't like she actually expected much from these exhibitions, since many of these techniques took time to perfect, which was why she was so nonchalant about visitng them in the first place. But since her sworn sister wanted to look around, she might as well take the opportunity to explore her own interests too.
"Well, it seems to have impressed some people." Rong Jian commented.
"Only at the beginning. I think I saw a few people nodding off near the end. No wonder the Beast-taming department has so few students." Shen Tianyu sighed in pity. "Next is the Sword Department for us, right?"
"Yes. The Sword and the Fist Department are the more popular two so the people wanting to see the exhibit are not few in number. It's going to be quite the crowd." Rong Jian replied.
"That's quite alright, we have some strong protectors, don't we?" Shen Tianyu glanced around at the three men in their group. "Besides, I doubt anyone would have enough balls to try to shove Zhu Wangye and the young masters of the Ningwu and Bai clan."
"That's right. As long as we create a human enclosure, we'll definitely be safe!" Bai Yaoxuan jumped in. "Unless the two Young Masters have other plans?" She turned to them and asked with a look that told them not to leave.
"Yay! Thank you, Young Master Ningwu!" Bai Yaoxuan beamed at him and a dusting of pink suspiciously crept over his cheeks.
"Then let's go, if we push it, we might even get some good seats." Shen Tianyu quickened her steps only to stop and look back, not knowing which direction she should go.
Rong Jian's shoulders shook in a quite chuckle as he elegantly rushed to catch up to his partner. Bai Yaoxuan bounded after them with the two Young Masters heading up the rear. Practice Building 2, where the exhibtion for the Fist Department was held, was already twice as crowded as the Beast-Taming Department's exhibtion to the point that one couldn't see the entrance. Only the parts of the door above the average person's height could be seen. Feeling a strange sense of urgency, Bai Yaoxuan urged them to go faster and faster. They ended up on the cusp between walking and running to Practice Building 1, where the Sword Department's exhibition was to be held. Practice Building 1 was the hall closest to the main road, making it easier to attract audiences. The crowd in front almost spilled onto the main road, with people accidentally bumping into passerbys as they tried to push through the crowd.

Shen Tianyu and Bai Yaoxuan was protected in the front by Rong Jian while Ningwu Liushan flanked their right and Bai Longtian walked on Shen Tianyu's left, in something akin to an arrowhead shape. As they approached the crowd, Shen Tianyu motioned for Bai Yaoxuan to cover her ears. The other didn't know the reason for it, but did so anyways, silently asking for an answer with her eyes. Seeing the motion, Ningwu Liushan and Bai Longtian also prepared.
"Be careful to protect your ears." Shen Tianyu leaned over and whispered in Rong Jian's ears. Since he was walkig in front of them, he couldn't see her signal. He nodded and a faint sparkle of spiritual power immediately emerged to cover his ears. She also put a hand on Bai Yaoxuan's hand covering her left ear and channeled some of her spiritual energy to provide some additional protection to her ears. Seeing that everyone in her group was protected, she took in a breath.
"EXCUSE US! COMING THROUGH!" She channeled spiritual energy into her throar and yelled at the top of her lungs. The whole crowd flinched as one, offended by the rude and thunderous shout. Many looked in their direction with murderous annoyance, some ready to pull out their weapons out of pure irritation. However, when they saw their leader, Rong Jian, their expressions of annoyance all transformed into open-mouthed shock as they stared at the approaching Wangye known to not even look at other people he didn't deem worthy of his attention. Then, they noticed the two young masters of the Ningwu and Bai clans walking behind him, the former barely managing to maintain his genial smile on his face while the edges of the latter's mouth was twitching.
