Walking through the black void, she entered the Wind Shrine to check her inventory.

The Wind Shrine was just as she left it, quietly standing in a little island of space, the red gates looming overhead. The inside of the shrine itself still had it's organized piles in it's corners. She merely had to sweep a look around to determine that nothing was missing and she had enough poisons that she didn't have to make new batches any time soon. She rummaged through her pile of bigger weapons to test them for a bit. She got bored of it pretty soon and decided to leave.

Her other little island inside her space that was unlocked was that fiery hell that looked like the inside of a volcano. As soon as she entered, the heat hit her like a storm. There were no changes in there either but she wondered around the hilly rocks, since she wasn't nearly as familiar with this place as the Wind Shrine. However, it seemed to be of no use as every other bend looked the same as the one's before it, making her question if she was wondering in circles instead. It wasn't like she was looking for something anyways so she went back to the Wind Shrine and laid down on the bench.

It was much comfortable laying on the bench than sitting on it, though her body was currently sitting. She decided to take a little nap here until it was her turn to appear.

...

Rong Jian was put into his robes and made up by some maids around the same time as Shen Tianyu. Unlike his partner, though, he didn't have anyone hammering in the basics of the ceremony into his head following him around. The maids also mostly communicated among themselves without interacting with him unless to ask how he thinks a particular ornament looks. Even so, he arrived a bit later than Shen Tianyu to the Ceremony Hall because of the teasing of his brothers, who were all waiting outside the Crown Prince's palace. When he did step inside the hall, all the conversation suddenly quieted down, falling into a low murmur.

Rong Jian wore a black[1] zhongyi with a deep green robe as the second layer. On top of the second layer was a red mandarin jacket with golden embroidery of a dragon on it. On his head was a black official's hat[2] with an embroidered dragon claw grasping a purple jade disk at the front, the jade being embedded in the hat just above his forehead.

When Rong Jian stood in front of the altar, his father and mother had yet to arrive, probably getting ready themselves. While talking with who ever came up to try to butter up with him, he subtly looked around the hall, trying to find his bride. He already knew she would be led to a side room until the ceremony started and she was good to come in, but he still hoped to catch a glimpse of her before it starts. Unfortunately for him, Shen Tianyu had arrived earlier than him and was already in quarantine so he didn't get to see her. His three brothers stood to his left, standing close to their place right next to the two thrones that were prepared for the Emperor and Empress.

On the right of the altar, though, it was eerily empty. There were two decorative chairs for Shen Tianyu's guardian or parents but because Yaodu was situated far away from Rikui, they had yet to arrive. Meaning, there was no one there, making her look like an orphan. One could say that Yanmen Mengxiao and Wu Linghao, as the Managers of Lavender Palace in Rikui, could sit there, but in the end those two were her subordinates. It would be a bit awkward for subordinates to be sitting in the position of their Mistress's guardians and giving her their blessing. As subordinates, why would their Mistress need their blessing? It's obviously supposed to be the other way around. In addition, it would seem weird to find two young men sitting in the seat at the engagement ceremony and then find some old man sitting there when the Wedding Ceremony took place. There was also the matter of the old Master... who would surely fly into a rage if he found out. He was rather fond of this adopted daughter of his and if he felt someone trying to take his place... well, he was the Master for one of the most feared organizations in the world for a reason.

A eunuch announced the arrival of the Emperor and the Empress as the whole hall knelt down, only the four sons bowed to them, a special privilege allowed to them because of their positions. The couple took their seats on the two thrones on the left before the Emperor told everyone to rise. The Head Minister of Ceremonies, who will be in charge of this ritual, took a step forward, with his upper body bowed. Only when the Emperor gave him permission to start did he straighten his back and faced the rest of the crowd. He gave a long speech about the kingdom, prosperity, and the couple to be going through this ritual today. Though there was not much to be said about Shen Tianyu because she was so mysterious, he had come prepared, pestering her with questions through letters and personal visits just to prepare for this speech. Rong Jian nodded in satisfaction with upturned lips at her qualities the man spoke about.

[1] There's a mix of dynasties here but initially, wedding dress in China, when they were first invented was black and red. It later progressed to green robes in the Tang dynasty. Though it was the bride that wore green and the groom that wore crimson, not the other way around like here. It's only recently, around the 1900s, that everything is red and gold.

[2] "Imitative clothing" as they are called started popping up in the Song dynasty, where nobles could wear royal robes or court dresses on their wedding day and civilians could wear red official robes.
