Once it was within Shen Tianyu's sight, she saw that the arrow she threw had embedded itself into the Demon Bat's skull, narrowly missing the core. The Demon Bat's wings, different from a normal bat skeleton, was filled with soft keratin in between the different main fingers, like the webbed feet of a platypus, that could catch winds when flying.
"Normally, I'd rather run away than face a demonic beast especially since the test is about surviving and, unfortunately, I won't get credit no matter how many I killed, but you're kind is really too troublesome, you know?" Shen Tianyu stood on her tree branch as if she owned it. Demon Bats were territorial and once they deemed someone an intruder, they would chase them to death even if the person escaped their territory. One reason was out of pure pride while another was to give a warning to anyone else in the future that tried or even thought of it. It's homing abilities were also similar to a regular bat's as it's glowing red eyes were more or less just for show.
'One troublesome matter taken care of.' She thought as she started work on the core. The skull of Demon Bats were exceptionally hard but the rest of it's bones were also just as solid. If Shen Tianyu had tried to use her sword to attack it, it might have broken her weapon instead. However, right now, one of it's own bones were embedded in the skull so she didn't have to worry about breaking her weapon at the beginning of the test. She slammed her palm at the end of the cartilage to force it further in. The Demon Bat gave it's own version of a scream as she continued to slam it's own hip bone into it's "brain". However, she knew it was a screech of pain and not for calling help. Because with the aggressive and territorial nature of Demon Bats, there would not be another for at least 600 li[2]. After all, they didn't need to mate so there was no need to create a society in their minds. Even if another Demon Bat came, they'd chase it away like it would any other intruder. They had no concept of "race" or any kind of grouping at all.
Only after a few more punches did the bone finally push through the skull and destroyed the core. The red fire immediately faded from it's eyes as it's body began to disintegrate, even it's wings she had thrown out.
'Alright. With that taken core of, time for me to leave.' Shen Tianyu quickly got up and dashed away from the spot. She climbed onto the branch of another tree and began jumping away like a monkey. The screech might not have to call for help but there were plenty of other demonic beasts in the forest. Now that the sound from the Demon Bat had been cut off, the other demonic beasts should be aware of a strong opponent within their vicinity. Some of them would definitely try to kill her to gain some glory so she had to leave her spot fast.
Once she deemed she was far enough away did Shen Tianyu finally slow down and laid down on a branch, this time more hidden. 'Haah, there's not even a lake or stream to try to cool down or drink some water. Though with this kind of test, I'd be wary of going near them anyways. Who knows what kind of dangers could be hiding within those depths.' Shen Tianyu let out a silent breathe.
