"Hello, seniors, I'm here to participate in the assessment." Shen Tianyu smiled at them.

"Oh beauty, did you get attracted to that ice statue? He's not a very interesting guy. How about you try hanging out with me a bit? I guarantee I'm more interesting than him." The flirtatious one tried to hit her up as soon as she spoke. The other student hit his arm in order to get him to behave but to no avail.

"Answering this Senior, I'm his fiancee."

"Aiya, there's no need to be so formal, just call me brother- uh... huh?" The words finally sunk in and he stared at her with a dumbfounded face.

"I'm his fiancee." She repeated without any change in expression.

The flirtatious student's mouth was opening and closing like a fish, with no sound being emitted. The other student sighed in exasperation but chose to ignore him.

"So this is Zhu Wangfei that I've been hearing so much about. Since you came to participate in the Sword Arena, please come inside. There will be a registration desk where you only need to note down your name to prove that you have arrived. Then, there will be a rest area for all the participants to wait at. Refreshments and snacks are available. All participants will be called to the Arena once it is time to start." The more studious guard explained to her. "Also, you may not bring anyone that is not a participant past this point. Older students are also not allowed entry. If Zhu Wangye wishes to see your fiancee's performance, feel free to line up at the main entrance for a seat in the stands."

Both Shen Tianyu and Rong Jian nodded their understanding and the former turned to her future husband. "Will you be watching me or scouting out some other students?"

"How could I miss Wifey's brilliant performance?" The latter questioned her back. Shen Tianyu merely smiled in answer and entered the gates of the arena as it opened, waving back before disappearing inside the dimly lit corridor.

The gate closed behind her and Rong Jian turned around to glide back to the main entrance. The other guard still had yet to wake up from his stupor, still staring at where Shen Tianyu was standing previously. Only when Rong Jian was completely out of sight did he return to himself.

"Zhu Wangye... What's up with him?! He's only born into royalty, what's so great about him?! He doesn't talk to the point of being mute and there's always a damn mask over his face, why are girls always so head over heels for him?! They've never seen his face! For all they know, he could be disfigured! And it's not like he'll inherit the throne either. He's not rich or anything. Seriously, what's so great about him?!" He burst out in jealous rage.

...

The passage past the gate was dimly lit by torches lit up every few steps. It seems though the School could probably use Night Pearls, they don't want to risk anyone stealing them. There was only a straight path in front of Shen Tianyu so she just half-mindedly walked through it. When she arrived at a fork, she immediately entered it, as the straight path surely led to the stage in the arena and not a rest area.

Shortly after she took the forked path, Shen Tianyu saw another Sword Department senior lazing around at a table. The table was a simple four legged one and on top of it was a blue book. The senior student was laying down with his head in his arms, as if he was taking a nap. The setup was situated in the middle of the path. Though it was wide enough that another student could still pass the table and student, they'd have to lean against the wall to do so. Shen Tianyu walked up to the table and tapped on the wood, clearing her throat before calling out to the student.

"Senior?" The receptionist jolted awake and rubbed his eyes to get rid of any gunk.

"Hm? What?" He muttered as he looked around the torch lit corridor before his gaze stabilized on the politely smiling Shen Tianyu. "Oh, what's you doing here?"

"Senior, I'm here to participate in the Sword Arena." She repeated her reason for being there again.

"Oh, that so? Look up your name in the book and put a "here[1]" next to it. When you're done, feel free to go into the rest area behind me. Ah, and I'm telling you, I'm not moving this stupid setup so move through on either side. If you don't like it, feel free to leave." He muttered all that with a half-asleep expression and didn't bother after the tutorial, falling back into his previous position.

There was an ink tray and a writing brush next to the blue book containing the names of the participants, or at least that's what she inferred since that was the only book in sight. Shen Tianyu flipped through until she found her name and took up the writing brush, carefully announcing her presence on the page using the calligraphy she had practiced these days. Honestly, she never was an artsy person so she still preferred a pen, or even a computer, to this day. Despite a writing brush being a pretty high-end writing tool in this world since you needed a lot of good fur to make bristles. Anyone not a rich merchant or nobility would not be able to buy a writing brush, with the exception of the charitable rich who taught children and provided these materials.

Once she was done, she didn't bother acknowledging the senior and proceeded to sidle her way through the gap between the table and the wall.
