She shrugged her shoulders as she delved into her second helping.
How she kept her figure when eating this much was a mystery any person would die to obtain. After the little convincing, Lun Aoman reluctantly finished his plate of food but didn't get another serving, choosing to return to sulking instead. Shen Tianyu also didn't bother with him as she had her fill of the delicious food.
'As expected, traditional cooking techniques bring out the flavor the best!' She thought as she sipped a cup of peach juice, her stomach finally filled.
No one approached the two of them, even Miss Yang who usually took every opportunity to cause trouble. Maybe it was because she was being mindful of the rules, or maybe she was scared of the young man beside Shen Tianyu who was currently muttering incomprehensible words with a murderous look on his face like a madman. Considering the woman's personality, she was willing to bet the latter. Well, at least she can have some peach and quiet during her resting period. The lunch break was three quarters of a shichen[1], which was plenty of time for the audience members to eat and return here as long as they didn't go too far.
When their break ended and the audience returned to their seats, the previous senior came and led them back out to the stage. The table was still there as a kind of makeshift gate to prevent them from going outside.
Once they were outside, Shen Tianyu looked around for Rong Jian and their little group to see if their seating had changed, while the hosting elder started his speech. This time, he introduced all the participating contestants, as there were fewer of them and they had either won their place or shown enough potential to be chosen. As each of their names were called out, they stepped forward and gave a bow. Shen Tianyu found her fiancee and sister before her name was called and bowed in their direction when it was her turn.
"Well, looks like it'll be you and me." Shen Tianyu turned to Lun Aoman as he finished, ignoring his flowery words after the important information.
"Huh? Why?" He looked at her with a genuine questioning expression to which Shen Tianyu didn't know to laugh or cry.
"It's a team round, do you see anyone else willing to partner with you?" She settled with rolling her eyes and gesturing around them. All the other contestants were standing visibly further away from the two of them than anyone else, making them look ostracized. And probably because she has now become associated with the crazy siscon right next to her, no one would want to ask her to be their partner even with her record.
As the hosting elder continued to talk, other participants had the same idea and started partnering up. Miss Yang stood aloofly among the crowd of people, looking like she thought people would be swarming to be her partner. They didn't. Even with Shen Tianyu out of the picture, her results in the previous round were pretty average and with her personality, the participating students would be more reluctant to partner with her.
'Ah... look, look. The other third places are teaming up with the fourth places just to avoid her.' Shen Tianyu hummed merrily as she watched Miss Yang'a aloof figure. The other two first place students teamed up together, while the second place did the same. Miss Yang was in second place in her group. The third place grouped together as did two of the fourth place chosen "potential". Lun Aoman was third place in his group, not necessarily because his swordsmanship was lacking but because someone mentioned family halfway through and he went on a massive rant about Lun Chang, costing him valuable time and points.
'I witnessed his sword skills myself during out classes. He can definitely compete for second or first by skills alone. Though, he probably wouldn't be able to come anywhere near me.' She thought as her glaze flickered to her partner.
