Luckily she caught herself in time with her released hand and cartwheeled back on her feet.

"Damned whore." Yang Lihua spat as she readied her sword once more. Shen Tianyu didn't respond and tapped her foot on the ground in impatience.

"General's Net!" Yang Lihua shouted as she swung her sword in crisscross patterns. The spiritual energy she fueled into the sword flew out in a net-shaped pattern, ready to lacerate her enemy into pieces.

Shen Tianyu twirled her sword like a fan, coating it in her own spiritual energy and rip through the net, unharmed. The remnants of the net hit the Shield Array's wall behind her and created an undulation in the bubble-like structure.

Yang Lihua appeared right after her special move, ready to cut Shen Tianyu in half at the hip. Shen Tianyu blocked it with ease and kicked the other in the chest before she had a chance to initiate another barrage of attacks.

Flying backwards, Yang Lihua stabbed her sword in the ground and managed to skid to a halt 4 and a half chi[1] from where Shen Tianyu stood, unmoving as a mountain. A trickle of blood dribbled from the side of her lips but was quickly wiped away as she stood up straight, while retrieving her sword from the stone platform.

She glared at Shen Tianyu in anger but Shen Tianyu merely shrugged at her. "What are you glaring at me like that for? It's not like I would throw this match just because you're General Yang's only daughter. Not only is that against the rules, there is no necessity for me to do so. Just because you're a General's daughter that everyone has to listen to you. I'm the to-be Wangfei of Zhu Wangye, my station is above your's so why should I yield to you?"

"Shut your dirty mouth! Everyone knows you just seduced Zhu Wangye for your own benefits! As soon as he realizes your true face, he'll abandon you, you're just scared you'll lose the chance to climb up!" Yang Lihua's face was red in fury as she waved her sword like a child throwing a tantrum.

"What true face? Shouldn't he be the one to best see through those things? And if you're such a good person, how come he's never even looked at you?" Shen Tianyu smirked, seeing the other's reaction. She hadn't been around Rong Jian for as long as Yang Lihua, perhaps, but just from the way Rong Jian reacts to the girl since she's gotten together with him, it was obvious to tell how he treated her before.

Yang Lihua let out a scream, seeing that she couldn't beat Shen Tianyu with words and chose to charge at her again.

Anyone who looked closer could see that Shen Tianyu was just playing with Yang Lihua. She's able to block or parry all of the girl's attacks with her sword still sheathed yet she has never been on the offensive. Yang Lihua herself seemed to be too enraged to care, continually attacking like a madwoman.

Even those that do not practice swordplay knows, that the sword reflects one's heart at the moment. The more frenzied and upset one is, the more random their sword play gets, the more openings there will be and the more mistakes will be made. Letting one' emotions guide one's sword is just asking to be killed.

This was inherently different from Shen Tianyu's preferred sword style. Though her style is also erratic, it leans on the side of unpredictability rather than recklessness. She does not let her emotions guide her sword, but rather her instincts. When her instincts tell her there is danger, she dodges. When she attacks, she has a backup plan and a defense ready. When she sees an opening, she takes advantage of it.

This was her "unpredictability", which is not achievable if one were to practice a specific sword style. Sword styles are established principles and techniques. It definitely helps one's swordplay advance if one were to practice it because there is a clear path on how to achieve success. However, because there is a clear path, it makes one's moves predictable and easy to anticipate for those that are talented enough to glean the essence of your swordplay.

Yang Lihua, on the other hand, was irresponsibly swinging her sword around, trying to hit any part of Shen Tianyu at all. There was no reason or intelligence behind her sword swings at all. When she feels like there she has charged up enough, she fires a sword technique, rather than waiting for an opportune moment to unleash it.

"To think a General's daughter's swordplay is only so-so like this. The military must have fallen quite far... Or does your father merely not bother to train you properly?" Shen Tianyu lamented out loud, uncaring if the other girl heard or not. She was not worried about being overpowered in this Tournament from the beginning. She had just broken through to Gold Core Level not long ago. In Rikui Kingdom, other than Rong Jian, there are only about ten Gold Core level cultivators.

The Emperor is the only Nascent Level cultivator in the kingdom. Jun Wangye, as a military representative of the royal family, was also a Gold Core level cultivator. The Crown Prince and Qiao Wangye were behind at only Meridians Level Late Stage. This was one of the sources of concerns for Rong Jian and the royal family as strength defined one's authority. The line of succession is important but not nearly as important as an individual's strength. The Crown Prince being weaker than two of his brothers in cultivation caused some to be unsatisfied with him and push for Jun Wangye instead. Rong Jian, being at the end of the line of succession in both birth order and blood relation had the least amount of government supporters.

It really was difficult to balance between strength, to protect one's nation, and proper management, the core of a government body and source of peace for the citizens.

"Are you done yet? If you don't have anything else, let's end this already." Shen Tianyu unsuccessfully stifled a yawn with her free hand as she continued to parry Yang Lihua's sword.
