"Are you done yet? If you don't have anything else, let's end this already." Shen Tianyu unsuccessfully stifled a yawn with her free hand as she continued to parry Yang Lihua's sword.

Tears of frustration were rolling around in Yang Lihua's eyes as all her strikes were being parried as if the other was swatting a mere fly. However, Shen Tianyu didn't care at all.

Yang Lihua snapped her head up as if finally remembering something. She jumped backwards to gain space between herself and Shen Tianyu. Although, the latter would never attack her first since she didn't deem her worthy of the effort.

Yang Lihua took out a talisman from her Cosmo Pouch that had been hanging by her waste. Just like it's owner, the Pouch was an incredibly gaudy red with a golden landscape encrusted with jewels of various sizes. It's a miracle it hasn't been stolen by some pickpocket.

Cosmo bags and Pouches were rare and expensive because of it's function of creating a piece of space within it's confines by a Talisman Master. Only the most high level of Talisman Masters are able to grasp the tails of how to make an object even with one hand-width of imprisoned space. What was good about Talismans and Arrays was that one could master it as long as they had a basic level of cultivation and one's advancement in these arts are not entirely dependent on one's cultivation. The bad thing about them was that they were incredibly hard to grasp. It's not enough just copying a few script words, you had to understand what the word meant and infuse intent in bot the words and the array or talisman as a whole. In the whole Dong Qi continent, including Rikui Kingdom, there were not more than 10 "Script Masters".

Script Masters was the title given to those who had a high level of understanding of the script used to make arrays and talismans. Talisman masters and array practitioners were interchangeable as the scripts used were the same. It was merely their field of study that was different. In more understandable game terms, Array Masters are like bards, able to affect a wide area and buff their allies while putting debuffs on enemies. Talisman Masters are like priests or priestesses, able to support allies individually and even add in some damage depending on the talismans they use. Unlike Arrays, where it's multifunctional, talismans can have attack power either by using the spiritual energy of it's user to initiate one or reflect the incoming damage of an enemy. On the other hand, an array could make the surroundings favorable to one's allies, such as with the Illusion Array. Both were support classes but each had their advantages and disadvantages.

The talisman in Yang Lihua's hand wasn't quite discernable to Shen Tianyu as she wasn't very well-versed in the art of the Script. If she wanted to figure it out, she'd need more time than the few seconds it took to reveal and rip it. Ripping a talisman with one's spiritual energy was how it would be used.

"You're using your sole talisman chance already?" Shen Tianyu merely chuckled in amusement. She wasn't too concerned because a heaven defying talisman would never be granted to a General, much less one that just recently got the position and his loyalties remained unclear. Even if it did pass down to a General, they would never give it to their children to recklessly use, it would be a family treasure.

The talismans one could buy on the market were mostly lesser-level talismans or, what Talisman Masters considered, failures. Failures were those whose effects was reduced by some mistake or because of low-quality materials. Most talismans made by Talisman Masters were stores by themselves, snatched by powerful figures, or in the case of Yaodu, kept for use by their allies. Shen Tianyu considered it a rent fee, though, complete with all of that person's utility and research expenses.

When the talisman tore, a faint blue light surrounded Yang Lihua's sword blade.

"Yaaah!" Yang Lihua once again rushed at Shen Tianyu, her confidence seeming to have regained with the use of her talisman. As she swung down, the faint blue light on the blade fluctuated into a fiery blue. Using Yang Lihua's energy, the blue fire danced around the blade.

Shen Tianyu's eyes widened a fraction but she quickly regained her bearings and finally left her spot, leaping to the side.

Having missed it's target, the blue fire of the sword leapt from it's host and barreled into the ground, scorching a black line on the stone pavement as it kept rushing forth. It was like seeing a missile leave it's launcher, not stopping until it hit it's target, or something strong enough to stop it. It eventually met it's match in the Shield Array surrounding the stage.

It hit the Shield, which reverberated a bit due to the force, creating waves in the semi-visible dome. It was soon quelled by the senior students managing the array and the blue fire died out. A long line of black stretching across half the stone stage was left in it's wake.

"It looks like I may have underestimated your wealth. A Raging Flame talisman, huh?" Shen Tianyu recognized it as soon as the blue light burst into flames. Though it couldn't be considered high level, a Raging Flame talisman was considered low-middle tier in talisman ranking. Talisman ranking took into account more than just the amount of power a talisman could produce. The amount of power relative to the spiritual energy needed to use it, the effectiveness of the talisman, and the amount of force or range it covered were all considered when placing a talisman on the rankings.

[1] I'm thinking 12 inch by 6 inch by 6 inch = ~ 30cm x 15cm x 15cm
