Some herbs could only be mixed with other vegetation of similar features. Plants in this category were the pickier ones and some of the most troublesome. Even vegetation of the same property can be incompatible and would cause a failure in concoction if the plants don't have chemistry with each other.

On Shen Tianyu's table, the amount of the two basic categories of herbs were about the same. She first recorded the latter category since it would be easier to do it now before she messed up the little mounds. The name of the poison came first, and then the herbs that made up said substance would follow and so on.

Once she filled the first sheet of paper, she motioned for another sheet to be brought over. A nearby senior student handed her another sheaf and she continued writing. When she deemed it enough, Shen Tianyu started to mixt the small mounds and put herbs of different properties together. There were usually more poisons that are made from crossing characteristics and so that took up another two sheets of paper.

When she was done with her recording, Shen Tianyu finally lifted up her head and looked around. There were a few empty tables where the participant had already left, either because they gave up or they broke a rule. The rest were still wracking their brains to fill the papers in front of them.

Seeing that the time was still not up yet, Shen Tianyu decided to add some flair to her assignment. Using an additional paper, she started to list the symptoms of the poisons she had noted down, from the very first item she started out with. She swept the herbs to one side, since she no longer needed them, and just looked at her list. She didn't go into too much detail but merely drafted the basic symptoms of each and how they were different, if there was a poison with similar symptoms on the list.

When the elder announced that time was up, Shen Tianyu, who was not yet finished with her extra work, calmly put down her writing brush and picked up her papers. She put her papers in a neat stack, with her list on top and waited for a senior student to collect her work. She had wrote the "Shen" character of her name in the corner of every paper so she didn't need to worry about it being misplaced if it was ever taken out of the stack.

Once everyone's papers were collected, the participants were led out of the indoor stage by a group of senior students. When they reached the entrance, the senior students turned to them.

The senior students didn't say anything and the leader took out a small, blue bound book and cinnabar stick from a pouch on his waist. The pouch was about the size of two adult fists, barely enough to fit the book and cinnabar stick.

"Alright, line up it in order and write your names in here." The leading senior student waved for them to form a small line, away from the contestant entrance. One by one, the few students that stayed behind left their names in the little book. Some used the wall of the building to write, while others just used their knee. When it was Shen Tianyu's turn, she used the wall behind her and handed the tools to the next person in line before she left, giving the senior students a small bow as she did so.

After meeting up with Rong Jian, the couple toured the School, Zhu Wangye showing her a few places she had yet to visit and some secret shortcuts that a lot of people didn't know about. They ended their day with buying a few snacks from the stalls and meeting up with Bai Yaoxuan and Ningwu Liushan. Bai Yaoxuan said goodbye to her companion and left with the couple.

...

"Stinking girl! How dare you get married without telling me!" On their way home, a familiar voice sounded from in front of the Zhu Wangfu as soon as it came into view. Rong Jian and Bai Yaoxuan looked at Shen Tianyu whose lips were twitching. She let out a sigh and jumped down from the carriage, telling them she'll see them later inside.

"Master, should you be calling me that after not seeing me for so long? You're going to ruin my reputation if you keep belittling me with names like that." Shen Tianyu walked up to the familiar figure of an old man in his forties, hopping around in anger.

"Stinking girl, you still have such a tongue!" The robes on the man were originally good-looking and would have made him look like a wise sage but with his jumping around, it didn't fit his current state at all.

"And Master, I'm not married yet, merely engaged. Besides, didn't you receive the wedding invitation and that's why you're here? If you keep calling me names, I won't bother with you anymore." Shen Tianyu ignored the old man started to walk away when she was stopped by a slightly wrinkled hand.

"Now, now. Don't be mad, I won't call you inappropriate names anymore. Besides, it's not 'Master', but 'Father' right? Father was just upset that you didn't tell me about it beforehand. Don't be angry with father, alright?" The old man's demeanor completely changed as he smiled amicably at the cold faced girl, looking over her shoulder at him. "Don't be mad, don't be mad. Father was wrong to be so childish when first seeing you. You were right, we haven't seen each other for a long time, I shouldn't have acted like that when we finally reunited. Dad was in the wrong, alright?" The old man continued, slapping his own mouth for good measure.
