Rong Jian and Shen Tianyu stayed in the Imperial Palace last night in order to make it easier to get ready on the day of the wedding, since the venue was in the Imperial Palace.
"Ugh... How can you be so energetic this early in the f***ing morning?" Shen Tianyu groaned as she rolled over and peeked out from her closed eyelids. "Oh god... the sun isn't even up yet. What the f***..."

"That won't do, Miss Shen. It takes a long time to prepare you for the ceremony. If you don't get up soon, we won't be able to keep to the schedule." What seemed like the leader of the group of maids spoke up, neither haughty nor subservient.
"It's your big day, come on! You're the one who wanted to get married this fast." Bai Yaoxuan threw the covers off as Shen Tianyu clung to her blanket.
Bai Yaoxuan dragged a sagging Shen Tianyu off the bed and plopped her down on the chair in front of the mirror. The maids entered the room as if on a signal and set up the screen, makeup box and dress. A group of maids including the leader surrounded Shen Tianyu as they combed her hair and helped her wash her face.
"So what are you doing here?" Shen Tianyu asked her sister once she was awake enough. The maids were in charge of her makeup and dressing her up so there was no need for Bai Yaoxan to be there. Even if she wanted to escape, it would be impossible for the fifteen or so maids to not notice.
"I'm here so you don't yell at the maids and throw things at them." Bai Yaoxuan puffed her chest.
"What impressions do you guys have of me? I don't throw things at people for no reason." Shen Tianyu grumbled as the maids tilted her head up to draw her eyeliner.
"Hey, safety precautions." Bai Yaoxuan shrugged.
"Whatever, sit down and take a nap or something. Get some sleep in my place will you?" Shen Tianyu knew she couldn't nod off as they drew on her face since she needed to constantly be holding her head a certain degree or tilting her head.
As the maids left the room, Bai Yaoxuan came up to her, who was sitting in front of her mirror for fear of messing up an entire day's worth of work.
"... Are you excited?" Bai Yaoxuan looked at Shen Tianyu's reflection in the copper mirror propped up on the wooden table.
"Not necessarily?" Shen Tianyu didn't know how she was supposed to respond to that. It wasn't an arranged marriage but she wasn't head over heels in love with her spouse either. It felt more like a convenience marriage to her, though she did feel a bit sorry for Rong Jian, who was.
"Are you happy?" Bai Yaoxuan didn't comment since she could guess why.
"Yes." This time, Shen Tianyu didn't hesitate. She wasn't madly in love with her soon to be husband but she did like him to some degree. She didn't need to worry about his finances, other women, or his future. His social position wasn't a potential problem for her either. She didn't need to worry about fighting other noblewomen for him since he already gave up the throne. In accordance, she didn't need to worry about hard to spot vengeance from those women either. The women that had Rong Jian as a love interest were usually young and inexperienced in the way of scheming so it was easy to spot them. Because he had no future on the throne, the more ambitious and scheming ones were not targeting him.
"Then that's fine. Remember, just because you're married, doesn't mean you're obligated to deal with bullsh*t. Remember to be happy." Bai Yaoxuan lightly patted her shoulder.

There was a knocking on the door and Bai Yaoxuan went to get it. She invited the unexpected guests in.
"Xiao Tian." "Little Treasure." Muo Jeng and Elder Yu appeared behind her, looking at her through the copper mirror.
"I'm still not satisfied that you're marrying so suddenly and I'm not completely satisfied with your spouse but this is your life and your choice. If he ever dares to bully you, I'll tear him to pieces! I don't care how old these bones are!" Muo Jeng thumped his chest in confidence.
"Thank you. Father." Shen Tianyu replied simply. However, her calling him the title that he had yearned to hear more often all these years made Muo Jeng's eyes water. He immediately covered his eyes with his arm and dodged out of Shen Tianyu's view but she could still hear his sniffling in a corner of the room.
