"I have a business proposal I've been working on for a while now." She didn't specify how long she'd been working on it but it definitely was not something she came up with recently. The notebook she took out was full to the brim with notes and thoughts.

"A business proposal?" Big brother Li asked as he stared at the notebook on his coffee table.

"Mhm." Xuan Lingwen nodded before she launched into a well-prepared presentation about her proposal while big brother Li flipped through her notebook. 'I'm not of legal age yet so there are too many things I can't do. I need a proxy to start this business. Mother is already busy enough as it is and, unfortunately, she doesn't have much experience in this field so even if she wanted to help, she wouldn't be able to. I needed someone with good business ability and good enough character not to be overtaken by greed. Who thought I would stumble upon this chance in such a short while?' Xuan Lingwen chuckled within her mind. Though she says it's only been a short while, to an objective viewer, 6 years was not a short time.

Once Xuan Lingwen finished her presentation, she sat back and waited patiently for his reply.

"This..." Big brother Li looked at her with a complicated expression once he finished reading through everything.

"I understand that the proposal might not be very good as I am still young and have much to learn but I believe the premise and core workings should appeal to you." Xuan Lingwen calmly interjected.

"No that's not it..." Mr. Li held his forehead in his hands so Xuan Lingwen wasn't able to see his expression. Unable to gauge his emotions, she simply remained quiet. "This proposal is already quite good. Even better than some from interns that have worked under me back in the city." He finally told her in what she identified as an amazed tone.

"Okay? So, will you help me with this business?" Xuan Lingwen didn't really care what level he thought her proposal was at overall, what she needed to know is if he'll help her. Besides, interns weren't exactly part of the company, very low on the hierarchy, so being compared to them wasn't a definite agreeable answer.

"Though the proposal overall isn't quite at the high end level, the core elements such as the business model and structure is pretty good. You even have a clear goal and pathway. The supply chain is also pretty fleshed out. The amount of backups you have designed, with the limited resources you'll have, in mind are also astoundingly detailed. I think it's worth a try." Mr. Li stared at her head on in the end.

Xuan Lingwen's hands, which she had unconsciously been clenching her thigh with, slowly released. "Thank you." She replied to him without a change in tone or expression though.

... As Xuan Lingwen's middle school graduation quickly approached, Mr. Li was as busy as a bee setting everything up. Xuan Lingwen also visited some sites with him to check if they met her standards, the farmland and factory were up to her standards and she told him she didn't care where their office was as long as it was in a fancy-looking building. After all, they'll move once they rake in enough cash. It's just that clients and investors are really biased about appearances so if they based at some rundown building, their willingness to invest or buy would be cut in half.

Xuan Shuhan had some complicated feelings about those outings at first. Since she didn't know anything, she thought the two of them had become friends, which wasn't too far off since Lingwen did trust him. She was well-aware that her daughter didn't have any friends. She never stayed out late and never brought any of her peers back home. She was always there, in the apartment, doing homework or reading while she waited for her return. Therefore, she felt a joyful that her daughter had finally made a friend. However, the fact that this new friend was much older than her daughter, old enough to be her father even, was also quite concerning.

Having been asked about this matter one day, Xuan Lingwen had no choice but to tell her mother about how they met. Of course, she left out all the previous times it had happened and only talked about that one encounter. Hearing that Mr. Li had in fact saved her daughter, Xuan Shuhan's doubts were erased and she promptly apologized to the man, despite never having voiced her concerns out loud.

"I think it's quite understandable to be concerned if your 12 year old daughter was hanging out with an adult male old enough to be their dad." Mr. Li had an awkward expression on his face the next day. Xuan Lingwen had came over to continue their discussion about the factory rearrangements and worker pay. Mr. Li mentioned her mother's apology and they started talking about it. "And it's not like she was ever rude to me or anything."

"Mother is a good and kind person." Xuan Lingwen nodded in agreement. "People are just too biased."

"I'm kind of surprised no one has chased her yet." Mr. Li commented offhandedly.

"There might be, I just don't know it." Xuan Lingwen took out her homework from her backpack seeing as they weren't getting to their main topic of discussion. "There was that bastard from 12 years ago, who probably traumatized her and there's me weighing her down. I imagine even if there were suitors despite all this, mother would turn them down."

"How would you know she turned them down?"

"She's never brought home another man and no one has turned up at our door claiming to be pursuing her?" Xuan Lingwen stated it in a questioning tone but was actually just responding actually.

"That makes sense..." Mr. Li murmured. Seeing that Xuan Lingwen was doing her homework, he went to cook some snacks for her.
