... Xuan Lingwen was busy starting up her business behind the scenes and going to school. Not to mention she also had to attend the graduation rehearsals and had to prepare a speech as valedictorian of her year. Mr. Li was equally busy with setting up, since he had more to deal with legally. After all, Xuan Lingwen was not of age.

After her graduation, Xuan Lingwen had more time to prepare and flesh out the operations of the new business. By the time she was starting highschool, everything was already up and running and even had a few customers.

Since she didn't have to worry as much about her family's finances and saving money, she decided to finally talk to other people and maybe befriend one or two of them. That was when she met and got acquainted with Bai Yaoxuan. The two of them became fast friends and though Xuan Lingwen did not tell her about the business at the time, she promised in her heart to give her a place in the company in the future. That was only if it succeeded and she wanted a seat, of course.

...

Knock knock

...

The polite knock from the imperial room Shen Tianyu was to set out from reverberated throughout the silent room. The sound broke Shen Tianyu out of her reminiscent reverie.

"Yes?" She called out from her seat in front of the dresser.

"The groom has arrived, My Lady." One of the maids informed her.

"Alright." Shen Tianyu got up carefully, her layers of gold, silver and cloth weighing her down.

The groom, Rong Jian was supposed to set off from the Zhu Wangfu to pick up Shen Tianyu before going to the Ceremonial Hall, again, to give the three bows and kowtows. They didn't have the games that Shen Tianyu read about in Chinese weddings back in her own world, maybe because it was unbefitting of a Wangye to be participating in such silliness. In place of the games, the groom bribed his way to the bride by giving her relatives red packets. There would be some, like the parents, who gave him a small challenge but nothing too over the top.

Shen Tianyu walked to the door and stayed there, waiting for her to-be husband to open the door and lift her away.

Rong Jian passed the final hurdle and the maids opened the door for him. Naturally, Shen Tianyu was covered by a red veil so he was unable to see her countenance but he still let out a breath at her in red wedding robes.

"It must have been hard on you." He uttered in a low voice. He already knew women had to wake up early to prepare, even earlier than the grooms.

"I had some time to nap while I waited for you." She joked. She naturally wouldn't actually fall asleep lest she messes her clothes or makeup and had to fix it all over again.

Despite many officials and nobility objecting to this marriage, quite a few were there to watch, perhaps in anticipation of some show.

Rong Jian helped his bride down from the horse and led her by the hand towards the altar, while holding the red cloth flower with his other hand and keeping it between them, as tradition dictated. Shen Tianyu naturally held on to the other end of the ball as she let him lead her over the threshold and into the hall. With the red veil that was supposed to hide her countenance until her husband lifted it off, she also lost quite a bit of her vision.

The two of them knelt in front of the altar, where the Emperor and Empress were seated on the left with Muo Jeng and Elder Yu on the right.

Usually, even if the sect was more powerful than the kingdom or supported it, the Emperor and Empress were the ones who sat on either side of the altar and the Sect Master and Elders slightly below them. A lot of sects and organizations at least gave some face to the figureheads and allows this at events and weddings. However, Yaodu had no association with any kingdom or nation in the outside world.

Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, it was the Empress who asked for this arrangement and being the ever indulging husband that he was, the Emperor agreed without much thought. The reason was because of Shen Tianyu's unknown origins and status. The Empress was afraid that the other nobles would use some excuse to attack her because they saw her as an eyesore. That's why she asked for this arrangement so those nobles would see that the Imperial family fully supported this union and are determined to treat her and her family as equals.

Conversely, Shen Tianyu had initially refused as this would cause subjects to question the succession line again and some foreign rulers may even look down on them for it.

"So what? Our Rikui Kingdom is not so weak as to fall from a few unpleasant stares and rumors." The Empress had responded. "Besides, I finally get to have a daughter, let me spoil her a little bit okay?"

Due to the Empress's persistence, Shen Tianyu finally relented, and with her Rong Jian did as well. After all, the one running around preparing for the wedding was the Empress, it would be unfair to deny her a selfish request after all this hard work.
